Inexpensive, everything is delicious, nothing can go wrong! If you are not careful, you will order a full table. In Montreal, if you want to eat authentic food, choose a restaurant in a residential area. It can stand out among the neighbors & basically taste good.
Don't miss Coleslaw, which is the most satisfying one I have eaten in Montreal so far, it is'the WOW'level. Black cherry soda with smoked meat is traditional & perfect.View more

One of the more well-known smoked meat spots in town. The smoked meat was pretty good - tasty & satisfying - & the fries were decent too. Overall, the food hit the spot. That said, the service wasn't great when we went. It felt like we didn't get much attention, which was a bit disappointing.
Still, it's definitely worth checking out, especially if you're visiting & want to try a local favorite. Everyone has different tastes, & while I personally think there are a few places with better flavor, this place has its own charm. Give it a shot & see what you think!View more

Very nice smoked meat. We got both the smoked meat & smoked brisket sandwiches. Good price for the sandwich, the fries, a can of pop & pickels!
They even put vinegar in a spray bottle, which I thought was an amazing touch. They clearly put the customer experience first. We were helped by Elena. We told her it's our first time at Lester's & we got a great & thoughtful answer to all of our questions.View more

Fries were handmade & delicious (but soggy as a wet dog by delivery). No ketchup, mayo or any condiments included.
Smoked meat was large & delicious! Extra mustard requested & added. Would eat this 10x in a row. Got the Swiss cheese. Doesn't make a huge difference. The meat is the star. Only thing I'd change - I think it's medium hand cut & I prefer shaved. But, this was so good I might switch.
Hot dog (glitzy). I think it was $6 so I had high hopes for low cost. It was okay. Tasty but smushed. Would skip on delivery maybe try in person.

The classic smoked meat sandwich is simply phenomenal. The meat is tender, flavorful, & perfectly seasoned, making each bite a delight. It is one of the best sandwiches you can find. 🥪❤?
But don't overlook the sides! The dill pickles, potato salad, coleslaw, & peppers are all fantastic accompaniments. Each side is fresh & adds a nice variety.
& I have to give a special shout-out to their poutine! 🍟🤤 It is fantastic on its own, but when you add the delicious smoked meat topping, it takes this classic dish to an entirely new level. The combination of flavors & textures is simply irresistible.
We also had to wash it all down with the necessary cherry soda in their signature frosted mug, which hit the spot just right.
With its rich history, mouthwatering smoked meat, & great sides, it is a place that truly shows the history of our city through culinary traditions.View more

Lester's Deli took me back to childhood. For me it had that nostalgia of the old Jewish delis that I grew up going to.
My husband had the Montreal smoked meat with fries & pickles. I had the egg salad sandwich with a side of pickles. The pickles reminded me of the pickles my baba would serve growing up. The fries were also that stereotypical diner style that is absolutely delicious. The prices were also very affordable, especially given the amount of food you get.
The service was also fabulous. It has that family feel that you often don't get at restaurants nowadays.

Compared to some smoked meat spots in the city, their smoked meat was not bad. It didn't have as much flavour especially since it's apparently comparable to another famous spot. I do like that the portions are still massive & the smoked meat poutine was so good. The staff are friendly & it's nice to see so many locals that come here.View more

The smoked meat was rather disappointing. Bland in taste. I've had much better smoked meat in Montreal although this place came highly recommended. Fries were great & so where the pickles. One original thing was the spray bottle on each table to spray your fries with white vinegar. Interesting concept.View more

Food was delicious & the pickle 🥒 was crunchy & tasty. Loved the authentic feel of this Old school & very MTL deli. They had a bunch of quartered pickles & coleslaw portions on the counter just sitting there on a very hot day, not covered.( The restaurant was empty) That was a bit of a red flag for me but that's how they've been doing it for a long time so I guess it's fine right?. The smoked meat sandwich was great but still ranks 2nd Best behind Schwartz's Deli. It didn't feel like home made smoked meat but more like prefabricated meat from the package. I would not be back solely for this reason but it was still delicious & I ate it all.View more
