One of the more well-known smoked meat spots in town. The smoked meat was pretty good - tasty & satisfying - & the fries were decent too. Overall, the food hit the spot. That said, the service wasn't great when we went. It felt like we didn't get much attention, which was a bit disappointing.
Still, it's definitely worth checking out, especially if you're visiting & want to try a local favorite. Everyone has different tastes, & while I personally think there are a few places with better flavor, this place has its own charm. Give it a shot & see what you think!View more
Very nice smoked meat. We got both the smoked meat & smoked brisket sandwiches. Good price for the sandwich, the fries, a can of pop & pickels!
They even put vinegar in a spray bottle, which I thought was an amazing touch. They clearly put the customer experience first. We were helped by Elena. We told her it's our first time at Lester's & we got a great & thoughtful answer to all of our questions.View more
IYKYK Montreal Smoked Meat!!
Best fries & smoked meat❤?View more
4.4 / 5 is a great score. Takeout Uber - arrived in 20 mins on a Wednesday lunch to my hotel.
Fries were handmade & delicious (but soggy as a wet dog by delivery). No ketchup, mayo or any condiments included.
Smoked meat was large & delicious! Extra mustard requested & added. Would eat this 10x in a row. Got the Swiss cheese. Doesn't make a huge difference. The meat is the star. Only thing I'd change - I think it's medium hand cut & I prefer shaved. But, this was so good I might switch.
Hot dog (glitzy). I think it was $6 so I had high hopes for low cost. It was okay. Tasty but smushed. Would skip on delivery maybe try in person.
I'd order again.View more
Lester's Deli took me back to childhood. For me it had that nostalgia of the old Jewish delis that I grew up going to.
My husband had the Montreal smoked meat with fries & pickles. I had the egg salad sandwich with a side of pickles. The pickles reminded me of the pickles my baba would serve growing up. The fries were also that stereotypical diner style that is absolutely delicious. The prices were also very affordable, especially given the amount of food you get.
The service was also fabulous. It has that family feel that you often don't get at restaurants nowadays.
I highly recommend going to Lester's Deli!!View more
My kinda place! Smoked meat sandwich was delish. No line, was helped immediately by very nice people working the counter. Fries were great. Nice old school authentic sandwich shop feel to it. A place my grandfather would have loved.View more
Channeling my inner Outremont local since 1951 - devouring a large smoked meat sandwich, fries, dill pickles, & washing it down with a black cherry Coke. This legendary spot has been fueling generations, one massive bite at a time! 😊View more
The smoked meat was rather disappointing. Bland in taste. I've had much better smoked meat in Montreal although this place came highly recommended. Fries were great & so where the pickles. One original thing was the spray bottle on each table to spray your fries with white vinegar. Interesting concept.View more
I recently tried the traditional smoked meat sandwich at Lesters Deli in Outremont, & it's a must-try if you're in Montreal. The sandwich is packed with a generous amount of freshly cut meat, served with a pickle & fries. The deli itself is an old, charming spot with very friendly staff, adding to the authentic experience. Definitely worth a visit!View more
Now that Main smoked meat on Saint-Laurent is closed, this is my new favorite place to enjoy a very good sandwich. It was nice to sit on the terrace on a beautiful day. French fries are very good!View more
By far the best smoked meat in Montreal! Meat is so tender & fries are to die for -Definitely recommendView more
A step back in time. Best smoked meat sandwich I've ever had. Best fries too. Better than Katz's? By 10 miles.View more
Lester's is a must-have every time I visit Montreal. Can't go wrong with the smoked meat sandwich combo with a pickle, fries & a side of coleslaw. Add a black cherry soda for a quintessential Montreal deli experience. The smoked meat is excellent, & the french fries are some of the best I've had anywhere. Sure, they have lots of other dishes on their menu, but I can't bring myself to order anything else!View more
Had smoked meat platter which came with fries & a pickle & it was PERFECTION! Meat was flavorful & practically melted in my mouth it was so tender. We loved the platter & fries so much we also took a smoked meat poutine & OMG... CHEFS KISS! The smoked meat poutine was so good we got a slice of cheesecake & WOW, it was so fresh & delicious. Highly recommend. Will come back!View more
We had smoked meat, fries, pickles, Poutine, cheese cake & coffee. ALL SUPERB! the vibe is awesome, a real Montreal style deli. The meat is the best in Montreal!View more
Sandwich was OK but a bit dry. 24$ + tx/tip for 1 sandwich, 1 fries & soda is ludicrous. French fries were good.View more
Stepping into Lester's Deli, you're hit with the kind of expectation that only comes from the promise of Montreal's famed smoked meat! The smoked meat sandwich, let's be clear, is VERY GOOD. It's the kind of flavor explosion that makes you wonder if the chef isn't a Michelin-starred maestro hiding in a deli. The meat is so tender, so richly infused with flavor & spices, it's like the culinary equivalent of a symphony orchestra playing in your mouth, with every instrument perfectly tuned. But then, there's the bread... Oh, the bread. It's the understeer in our gastronomic joyride, the unexpected disappointment that leaves you yearning for a bit more grip on the culinary road. It's as if, in the midst of creating this smoked meat opus, the chef suddenly decided, "Let's just dial it in with the bread it's like pairing a world-class actor with a backup dancer who can't find the beat. & the fries. Where do we start? Calling them "awful" is a kindness. They're the culinary equivalent of attending a concert only to have the speakers blow out during the first song. Burned, flabby, & tasteless, they're a travesty, an affront to potato lovers everywhere. It's as if someone in Montreal decreed, "All fries must henceforth be as appealing as a rain-soaked weekend in the beach." It's not just Lester's; it's a city-wide conspiracy against the humble spud. I wonder if there's a secret society dedicated to ruining fries, meeting in dark alleys & exchanging soggy, burned potatoes as tokens of membership. In sum, Lester's Deli serves up a smoked meat sandwich that could easily become the stuff of legends, if only the bread & fries rose to the occasion making this a place worth visiting again.View more
The service is super friendly & exceptional. The smoked meat & pickles are fantastic. The fries are deceiving soft & dark brown like when cooked in old oil.View more
Unique in the world, Lester's smoked meat is simply the best. If you're visiting Montreal, you must go & try one of their delicious sandwich with fresh cut fries.View more
Smoked meat was amazing. French fries were very good as well. Busy but still had amazing & fast service.View more
Excellent meat sandwich, delicious hand cut fries & a super fun service. The decor is delightfully retro. Highly recommended, great alternative & / or complement to Schwartz's!!View more
I ordered the smoked meat sandwich with fries ans pickles. The sandwich was good. The plate for the fries was dirty with ketchup i didn't put on & there was fried ketchup on some of the fries.
I told the waitress about it. Her answer was that i probably put ketchup on my fries wich i told her that i did not. She then left the table rather rapidly.
