Service was attentive & pleasant throughout the evening.
At this price point, I would have expected bread & butter to be offered at the start, as is common in similar restaurants.
The food was good, but the plates felt surprisingly sparse. The Beef Wellington came with barely two small pieces of eggplant. My girlfriend & daughter ordered steak & replaced the fries with salad; the steak arrived alone on a large plate with only some sauce. It looked unfinished & poorly assembled.
To make matters worse, the steak knives were so dull they could barely cut the meat. The waiter ended up giving us a butter knife, which worked better than the steak knives provided.
I was prepared to pay the'Mont Tremblant premium,' but the overall execution felt underwhelming & difficult to justify.
This was, without question, one of the most incompetent & infuriating restaurant experiences I have ever had.
We arrived at 8:00 p.m. & what should have been a simple dinner somehow turned into a 2.5+ hour endurance test. It took 30 minutes just to order drinks, & the night only went downhill from there.
The drinks were horrendous across the board. I ordered a Hugo Spritz that was completely flat-no bubbles, no freshness, absolutely dead. When I pointed it out, the server said,'Okay, I'll bring you another one,' took it away… & still charged us for it. Yes, we were charged for a drink that was acknowledged as bad & removed. Unreal.
Then came the appetizers. Every single one was disgusting & completely bland, despite being overloaded with so many ingredients listed on each plate that you'd expect some flavor by accident. Somehow, they managed to throw everything on the plate & still make it taste like nothing. Just messy, pointless, flavorless food.
Every drink afterward was just as bad as the first. Not a single decent cocktail the entire night.
We then ordered two steak frites:
• One medium rare
• One medium
They got both of them wrong.
The medium rare steak came out completely rare, & the medium steak came out medium rare. So not only can they not cook a steak properly, they can't even get either temperature right when making two steaks at the same time. That's basic steakhouse-level incompetence.
The fries were so overcooked they were basically crackers-dry, hard, & unpleasant. The'truffle' was low-quality, artificial-tasting, & disgusting. Nothing about it resembled real truffle.
The escargots were a joke. The smallest snails I've ever seen in my life-embarrassingly tiny. I've seen bigger snails outside after it rains.
To finish the disaster, I ordered a steak tartare & very clearly asked for the mushrooms to be removed & placed on the side. Instead, they brought the tartare with mushrooms mixed in, & then-somehow thinking this fixed it-also brought a side of mushrooms. & yes, I was charged for everything, including their mistake.
So let's summarize:
• Over 2.5 hours for a basic dinner
• Extremely slow, careless service
• Flat cocktails
• Charged for drinks taken back
• Bland, overloaded appetizers
• Two steak frites, both cooked wrong
• Fries cooked into crackers
• Fake, bad-quality truffle
• Microscopic escargots
• Special requests completely ignored
• Charged for every single error
This place is overpriced, poorly managed, & shockingly incompetent, surviving purely on location rather than quality. If you're in Mont-Tremblant, do yourself a favor & eat literally anywhere else.
Bill was $400 CAD was DISGUSTING
STAY AWAY
Horrible ! My head still hurts from the LOUD music that does not match the ambience & the menu & price !!
They charged us OVER $70 dollars for truffle risotto ( vegetarian ) /one dish !!!!! Horrible !
If u want to eat an expensive mediocre risotto & pay the price of a steak & get a headache from club level loud music go here otherwise save your money & save yourself from headache !!! I asked our server twice for lowering the loud music blasting & it seems the manager of this restaurant is clueless about customer satisfaction & I feel the y billed us too high for a risotto which is INSANE!!!!!!
Our bill came over $260 for 2ppl
WOW. Wow. Wow. 10/10
This was probably our fifth time at Leo. If it wasn't our best experience, I don't remember another one. In fact, the last time we were at Leo last January 2024 we had our worst experience with food, ambiance & understanding. Let's just say we won't order oysters from Leo again.
Enough of that grumbling, it's behind us. This was a great experience. We love sitting at the bar wherever we go & that's where we were. Eliane, our server & master drink mixer, made us great cocktails & then suggested a very nice red wine to have with dinner.
We shared steak & frites & the hamburger. Again, Eliane stepped it up in asking if my wife wanted salad instead of fries with her hamburger. It's just a little touch, but was so nice.
All said. it was certainly a 5-star visit & we will be returning. We're in Mont Tremblant quite often in all seasons.
Thanks for the visit.
We were there over the weekend. I want to preface by saying my partner & I both worked in the restaurant industry as younger adults - we actually met at a restaurant working together over 15 years ago... I'm taking points down in service because we believe management would not have been happy with us had what I will share in this review made it to their ears where we previously worked… Attention to details was lacking. This is a higher end place & it just should not happen...
When we sat down, the wines glasses, the cutlery & bread plates were all in terrible condition… I didn't have the chance to take a closer look at the water glasses because water was promptly poured in them. Wine glasses, cutlery & side plates were heavily stained from dishwashing. As the server came with the wine, we had to put our hands over them because he was about to pour in them without a second look. We waited to the last minute on this because we were both wondering if the server was going to notice & replace them without us having to tell him. Looking around us, it seemed that a significant number of tables were in the same condition with wine glasses stained to the point it was visible from afar… My partner thinks this situation could be a problem with bad maintenance of the dishwasher.
We had bread, tomato salad & oysters as appetizers. The bread & tomato salad came promptly, before the appetizer plates had even been brought back. My partner once lost a table in his section due to side plates not being there before appetizers were brought over… & it was not a restaurant playing in the same caliber as Leo plays in.
Back to the food. The bread was fluffy & delicious. The tomato salad was interesting with the flaked foie gras. I liked it, my partner felt ambivalent about it. & then, the oysters… I suspect they might have upgraded us to the higher caliber ones due to the earlier situation: the server did mention they were considerably bigger than the ones he had served all night. They were absolutely fantastic too. However my complaint on the oysters is this : their «nasty sauce» (literally how it's called) should come with a warning. The servers should at least tell you how spicy that thing is. There is ZERO indication & we did not have a verbal warning either. I went on an splattered a spoonful on one of them (thankfully my last one because that citrus mignonette was absolutely FANTASTIC) but I spent several minutes regretting my life choices due to how spicy it was. Think Tabasco x10. I like spicy, don't get me wrong… but that needs to come with a little bit of a warning. My partner empties our stocks of hot sauce faster than anyone I've ever seen & even him thought that it should have been mentioned… So that's another reason I'm taking points off for service. In such a high end place, you definitely should not burn your mouth off like that due to not getting the full disclosure about what you're being served.
As a main course we both had beef Wellington with Rapinis on the side. My first beef Wellington was a some years ago at Gordon Ramsay's steakhouse in Vegas. It's something I've seldomly ate over the years & it has been hard to find as good as I had it there... I'm however not afraid to say this was of the same caliber. It was my partner's first experience with beef Wellington & he was glad to know that it definitely held up against the best one I had ever had. We were both unsure about the star anise with the Rapinis but other than that, after the appetizers & a very copious amount of food in the main course, we just couldn't do desserts.
So in general, excellent food but unfortunately underwhelmed with table set up & some missteps in service. Regardless of my criticism,
I'd come back for the food & I'd be attentive to the details that we found a little off on this first visit. Rather friendly service overall, just maybe not enough attention to details & bit lacking on the information shared about the food.
Just okay.
The Steak Frites? More like Steak Floating in Sauce.
Other fried stuff tasted fine-fried food usually does.
But $18 for a Negroni?
If the food had been extraordinary, maybe I'd consider coming back.
As it stands, there are plenty of better options out there.
Great cocktails. Bartender knows how to make good cocktails. Food presentation was nice & steak was perfectly cooked.
That said, food was lacking in flavor & seasoning, dessert included. Definitely not worth the price, but this is Tremblant, everything is overpriced & that's pretty much the best you can get in the Village. Your money would still be better spent elsewhere.
Most people will assume this is an overly expensive restaurant & skip but it has what arguably could be the best burger in town, & it was the same price as all the other restaurants nearby.
Also very good was the hanger steak which was cut a lot thicker than normal but still very tasty. While not listed on the menu, it comes with french fries.
The mushroom soup was also very tasty & recommended if on the menu. I'd skip the Leo salad as it was decent a bit boring
We went at the beginning of May which was a quiet period for Mont Tremblant as it falls between seasons. We had an incredible steak & potatoes. The Brussels sprouts were incredible & just as good as the dish I've had at Mckiernan in Montreal which is owned by same group as Joe Beef etc. The service was generally quite helpful & attentive. I think it's good Tremblant has some upper scale options available snd Leo fits the bill. I wished the wine selection was a little larger but good options none the less.
The dishes were amazing & the atmosphere was nice. Also, I loved my steak.
Had a wonderful dinner experience with my wife & two kids (8 & 10) last night. Our server Allen (We HIGHLY recommend him as your server) was first class from start to finish. Our dishes were prepared with attention to detail & technique. We tried the BEEF TARTARE, ESCARGOTS, ATLANTIC SALMON, RIB EYE STEAK, RISSOLE POTATOES, BRUSSELS SPROUTS & the chou a la creme for dessert for the table.
