Beautiful terrasse in the back, amazing wine selection & delicious dishes. Must have the carrot caramel cake for dessert. Everything was top notch! Perfect ambiance for date night !
This was one of the best dining experiences of my life. My girlfriend & I came here for a nice dinner on a weekend trip & couldn't be more pleased! We got the bread, the ham & cheese, vegetable plate with aioli, the chicken & the lamb for dinner along with the carrot cake cream cheese ice cream sandwich with hot butterscotch sauce & Guinness infused chocolate cake with mascarpone for dessert. I also had the lemon grapefruit vodka soda to drink which was wonderful.
The only thing better than the food was the service. Huge shoutout to Brian for being incredibly attentive, especially to my allergies.
Such a wonderful experience & will be back when I'm in Montreal!

Mon nouveau resto préféré! Le service a été impeccable, les plats ont du caractère, le goût est juste & l'ensemble est cuisiné avec des aliments de grande qualité. À prendre sans faute : plat de jambon & fromage & les pommes de terre dauphines avec moules. En dessert, je recommande sans hésiter le sandwich crème glacée! Merci Vin Papillon 🦋
Love this little place! We had friend with celiac so it's always a little more stressful to find restaurants that get it - this is the place! They are super & even had the most incredible carrot cake gf dessert! The mushroom dish & the carrot cake were my faves! Incredible!
Le Vin Papillon fait partie de ces rares restaurants à Montréal où l'on pourrait se déplacer uniquement pour ses desserts, chose que nous avons faite plusieurs fois déjà. Cela surprend, amuse ou intrigue, car les desserts ne semblent pas être au coeur de la carte - & pourtant, ils valent le détour.
Je suis obligé de mentionner le fameux sandwich à la crème glacée'gâteau aux carottes', servi avec son caramel chaud. Accompagné d'un petit vermouth rouge, c'est une parfaite façon de terminer sa soirée.
Mention spéciale également pour les maitakes aux champignons, absolument divins, mais aussi pour le jambon ou la merguez de lapin, tout aussi délicieux.
Bref, une adresse incontournable qui figure peut-être dans mon top 10 à Montréal.
Cute date spot. Highly recommend going with a reservation. The menu is supposed to constantly change. Classic French with a bit of a twist. Definitely a go to if you like to order a bunch of different small plates to share. Get the dessert. The carrot cake ice cream cake with toffee dripping was amazing. Would go back just to have that again.
Had a concert across the street & reserved a spot at this resto upon reading other reviewers noting 2/3 of the menu items were Gluten Free for my spouse. It was our first visit. Our server, Charles, took the time to explain the menu with gluten free options & indeed 2/3 of the menu were GF. Each dish that was brought to the table was also explicitly stated by the server if it had gluten (I ordered gluten containing dishes). The gluten free items we had were Shaved ham, Chicken dish, Maitake mushrooms, Charbon Fish (Monk fish) & Carrot cake dessert. Non GF item ordered were the Chouquette with tuna, Bread, & Crostata apple pastry dessert. Initially seeing the reviews of complaints of portion size had us doubt our choice & only the fish dish was a bit out of proportion but it was immediately made up with the prep & flavours of the dish. You have to taste the food here to understand why it's so highly rated & not judge it by pictures alone. The service, the food ingredients, the excellent prep & flavours of every dish we had were extraordinary with wine pairing recommendations. The GF carrot cake dessert was incredible. Even the final double shot espresso was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed our first dining experience here & will be back for the service & attention to excellent gluten free options & dessert.

Restaurant chaleureux & invitant. Plats exécutés à la perfection mettant en vedette les ingrédients frais du moment de leur menu changeant. Nous étions véganes & ils n'ont pas eu de problème à modifier des plats végétariens pour nous. Il y avait même un dessert végane incroyable (sorbet fraise rhubarbe). À essayer!
This place has amazing food & a really cozy vibe. Their dishes are perfect for sharing with friends. The server recommended that we get six dishes for our group of 3, & it was just the right amount. & the dessert was out of this world - we had a heavenly chef's special: a carrot cake ice cream sandwich with toffee. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great spot to hang out with friends & enjoy good food & drinks.
From start to finish the service, atmosphere (even amid the pouring rain), & seasonal menu are above & beyond Our server was very attentive & helped us choose very interesting wines that paired with the meal absolutely perfectly - the complexity of the wine evolved with the meal, in unexpected ways The plates not only came out quickly (within minutes after ordering), but used unexpected combinations such as radish with the most buttery biscuit you'll ever taste. For a party of 4 we had 9 dishes total, plus 3 desserts The difference between a great restaurant & a good restaurant leaves you thinking about the interplay between the flavors of the dish long after you leave, versus serving flavorful dishes you may have enjoyed before. This is a great restaurant. Many thanks to the staff here for such a great evening.
Je dois être honnête avec cette critique, si vous désirez bien manger, vous êtes au bon endroit. Beau plat à partager, plusieurs choix dans la fraîcheur, legumes, viandes sont incroyables. Par contre soyez avisé que votre serveuse vous avisera dès le début que vous devez quitter la table après 2 heures..... Nous étions 4, nous avions une réservation à 19: 30 & elle nous a clairement indiquer qu'a 21;30 il y avait un autre service & ce avant même de commander notre premier verre...Nous nous sommes senti très précipiter & la serveuse nous avisait que nous avions du retard dans nos choix si on pensait prendre un dessert..... De plus, j'ai réserve un mois en avance en demandant une table sur la terrasse arrière & nous ne l'avons pas eu. J'ai réitérer ma demande & j'ai reçu une des air bête les plus sauvage jamais eu en restauration. Pour une facture à 4 de 660.00$, malheureusement je m'attends à recevoir un service impeccable. Ce ne fut pas le cas. Bravo au gens en cuisine pour l'excellence des plats mais pour le service, un léger recardèrent est de mise... Ce fut la première visite & ce sera aussi la dernière...

We came here at the recommendation of a few friends, & it did not disappoint. Instead of choosing our own dishes we opted for the Blind Menu where they curated the entire dining experience for us, considering our food preferences. The jambon & fromage was the best of all that we got 2 plates! The tomato dish, & the biscuit & radish round out the top 3 for us. As for dessert, we got the carrot cake ice cream sandwich, which was also one of their bestsellers. Overall, a nuit parfaite!
Coziest space, with great service. The carrot cake ice cream sandwich is a dessert I will think about often. The shaved ham & cheese is a perfect starter, & the mushroom dish with its delicious sauce is an umami dream.
Première expérience au Vin Papillon. D'abord, l'endroit est petit, les tables sont proches les unes des autres, ça m'a un peu surprise ! Le service, immaculé, a toutefois été très rapide en début de repas, peut-être un peu trop. Par après, ça s'est ajusté, c'était moins précipité & plus agréable! Toutefois, la qualité des plats était au RV. C'est excellent. C'est créatif, délicieux! Le jambon est un incontournable, tout comme le dessert, sandwich crème glacée au gâteau au carotte. Excellent choix de vin. Le tout assez abordable! 7 plats partagés, 2 verres de vin, un dessert & un café pour 100$. C'est sublime ! Un 5 étoiles sans aucun doute !!!
All dishes are meant for sharing, but please note that the serving sizes are small. While ham with slices of cheese is out of the ordinary, nothing else impressed me at all. Desserts are so-so.
