We were driving back to Toronto from Quebec City & decided to stop at The Swaad Indian Restaurant for lunch in Montreal-& it turned out to be one of the highlights of our journey.
The restaurant has a warm, inviting ambiance with a cozy atmosphere, & the vintage bike at the entrance was an instant hit with the kids.
We started with the crispy corn & masala fries, both of which the kids absolutely loved. The paneer butter masala was rich, velvety, & perfectly paired with incredibly soft butter naans. Among the vegetarian appetizers, the soya chaap was the standout & an absolute must-try. For the non-vegetarian starters, the karivepaku chicken delivered bold, tangy flavors with just the right amount of spice, while the fish was exceptionally tender & juicy.
No Indian feast is complete without biryani, & both the mutton ghee roast biryani & the special chicken biryani were outstanding-aromatic, flavorful, & easily the stars of the meal.
The quality of the food, the welcoming service, & the inviting ambiance exceeded our expectations, especially for a Monday afternoon. If you're looking for authentic Indian cuisine in Montreal, this place is well worth the visit. We'll definitely be back on our next trip!
We recently organized my friend's wedding reception at Swaad for about 45 guests, & it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The food was delicious, & every dish was full of authentic flavor.
The staff were incredibly supportive & accommodating with all our requests. They even set up a special chaat corner along with other Indian starters, which was a big hit among our guests. We had people from different nationalities attending, & the team thoughtfully kept the spice level medium as requested, making sure everyone could enjoy the meal comfortably.
One thing we truly appreciated was that there were no restrictions on decorations. We were able to decorate the venue in a traditional Assamese style, which made the celebration feel very personal & special.
Overall, everything was well organized, the service was smooth, & the food quality was excellent. I would highly recommend Swaad for group events (20-40 pax) & special occasions!
Wow. This Indian restaurant is a gem. Even as take-out, the food was incredible. Rich spices, perfectly cooked dishes, & big portions. You can taste the care in every bite. Highly recommend!

So, I will be fairly said that I never tried dine-in the restaurant, only did take out but atmosphere looks subtle. As, per food i will say all veg briyani especially, Narmada briyani is awsm & Ghee roast is little bit spicy for my platter but good for people who like too much spice. Quantity is great no question about it.also, service is great do talk to staff for pricing & accommodation. Moreover, their paneer keema briyani & narmada paneer briyani are really good.
Awesome experience at Le Swaad. Every item is flavourful & rich in taste combined with the cheerful staff who caters to the spice level asked. Would keep definitely ordering & coming to the restaurant in future. Thanks to team Swaad for bringing it to the South shore.
I loved everything about this place because 1. You could choose the level of spice in your food & there were many choices.
2. The service was extraordinary the food came fast & when we ask for extra napkins they gave it to us fast.
3. The atmosphere was calming with the nice Christmas decorations.
Not sure what the bad reviews are about-our experience was excellent! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Le Swaad. The curries were rich & flavorful, the biryani had just the right amount of spice, & everything was served hot & fresh.
Highlights from our meal:
Biryani de Mouton Rôti au Chon - extra spicy & absolutely delicious
The space itself is striking-the walls are alive with beautiful hand-painted murals. We were served dish after dish of wonderful items that weren't afraid to bring the spice! Samosas that surprise you with how generously they're filled, curries layered with real spice & depth, every dish carrying the precision & warmth of home cooking elevated to something memorable.
A new menu launch pushes that spirit even further-bold flavors, confident seasoning, & a clear respect for authenticity without compromise. We loved our experience here.
Visited on a whim only to discover that we may have stumbled upon a local gem.
Le Swaad is the ideal destination for a heart-warmingly indulgent Indian meal to combat the cold seasons, all at excellent prices that won't break the wallet. Every bite left me salivating in anticipation for more.
The food is simply delicious with each dish a flavor bomb that reflects a perfectly balanced use of spices without leaving the dish spicy. The butter chicken was rich & decadent with its thick gravy bursting with aroma & chicken still tender & moist. The palak paneer creamy, earthy & fragrant. The kaju ghee roast mushrooms packed a punch of flavor with a warmth that softly lingers.
The service was accommodating. The staff were very nice & also showed us the ideal way to order for saving money & getting the best bang for your buck. We felt well taken care of.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience. Le Swaad delivered on the quality of the food, the service, & the overall atmosphere for dining.
This restaurant is definitely one of the hidden gems to discover, if you're fan of spicey exotic foods. The food are all good, but we especially loved the Apollo Fried Fish that was recommended to us by the lovely hostess, who took the time to explain every dish. The portions are generous. We will definitely return again.
