Le Surcouf is a welcoming French restaurant established in a Victorian home for over 45 years now. Dominique and the chef Serge will be pleased to help you discover the fine French classic cuisine. In the fall the restaurant offers a special game menu in addition to their regular table d'hôte that you create yourself.
Le Surcouf consistently earns praise for excellent French cuisine, impeccable service, and a warm, elegant atmosphere in a charming old house with multiple intimate rooms. The wine list is excellent and dietary needs are well accommodated with gluten free options, making it a reliable choice for special occasions and relaxed dinners alike. While some guests note that prices can be on the higher side and that service can be slower on busy nights, the overall experience remains memorable and consistently high quality.
Went here for the first time to celebrate my birthday & loved it. Cozy atmosphere, excellent cocktails, & beautifully presented, delicious food from start to finish. Appetizers & desserts were amazing too. The staff's attention to detail made the evening feel very special!
This place is our go to for a classic, elegant & exquisite dinning experience. I love the fact that they resisted modernizing their offer like all the other places that have become generic. Le Surcouf is a real, authentic French restaurant that remained true to the tradition like no other on the island.

We have loved Surcouf for many years . Last night for my husband's birthday was not the experience we have known & loved . Despite our reservation we arrived & our table was not ready & waited about 20 minutes after leaving & returning as we were informed it was not yet available. Although our appetizers were delicious our main course was disappointing. We have decided on Chateau brillant à la table - we'd ordered rare & it came raw . Not blue . It was heated more & still very raw . We sent my portion back to the kitchen & despite beautiful grill marks the inside remained raw & cold . It felt as if the waiter was making fun of me ordering a litchi martini repeating my order in a condescending tone . The waitress whom served our chateau brillant was cold & dry . After many years of loving this gem we will sadly not be returning after paying over 400$ & receiving better service in a pub setting .
The seared foie gras a 10/10, everything I dreamt of, one of the best. However, it all went downhill from there.
The fries that came out with the beef tartare were incredibly soggy & gross. Every single fry was an inch long or less, as if someone had scrounged up all the disgusting leftover bits in oil that should have been thrown in the trash. Not ok.
Long after I was done with my meal, the waitress said that's how the fries normally are, & that they may have just used smaller potatoes. Lol. Never saw her after that, other than when she walked by & just cleared my glass of wine away without asking if I'd like another or if I'd like dessert/the bill.
I asked for my check from the hostess as the waitress acknowledged every table around me, except for mine, & I proceeded to wait 20 min without any help. I literally had to get up from my seat & wait at the hostess stand to pay & leave. The service literally pissed me off & left a horrible taste.
