Le Surcouf is a welcoming French restaurant established in a Victorian home for over 45 years now. Dominique and the chef Serge will be pleased to help you discover the fine French classic cuisine. In the fall the restaurant offers a special game menu in addition to their regular table d'hôte that you create yourself.
Le Surcouf is widely regarded as a premier dining destination, celebrated for its exquisite French cuisine and welcoming atmosphere. Guests frequently praise the restaurant for its consistent quality, attentive service, and beautiful presentation of traditional dishes. Set in a charming, old-world house, it offers an elegant environment suitable for special celebrations, romantic dinners, or quiet gatherings. While experiences are overwhelmingly positive, with many patrons returning over the course of several years, the restaurant is recognized for its commitment to maintaining authentic culinary traditions and providing a memorable, well-managed experience for all its visitors.
We were a little surprised when we had to ask for bread. The service was great though. The food was delicious. We didn't get the little palate cleaner in between like we usually do & the dessert was to die for. All in all a nice experience.
Wonderful meal & exceptional service in a great setting. The experience surpassed my expectations & I am glad to provide a great recommendation . Topped off with a decadent dessert.
Mag & her kitchen crew shine as always !
Thanks for taking us in on a very short request. & a table by the fireplace to boot !! Excellent supper, never a let-down. Too full for dessert was my only disapointment but that's my fault.

Went here for the first time to celebrate my birthday & loved it. Cozy atmosphere, excellent cocktails, & beautifully presented, delicious food from start to finish. Appetizers & desserts were amazing too. The staff's attention to detail made the evening feel very special!
The seared foie gras a 10/10, everything I dreamt of, one of the best. However, it all went downhill from there.
The fries that came out with the beef tartare were incredibly soggy & gross. Every single fry was an inch long or less, as if someone had scrounged up all the disgusting leftover bits in oil that should have been thrown in the trash. Not ok.
Long after I was done with my meal, the waitress said that's how the fries normally are, & that they may have just used smaller potatoes. Lol. Never saw her after that, other than when she walked by & just cleared my glass of wine away without asking if I'd like another or if I'd like dessert/the bill.
I asked for my check from the hostess as the waitress acknowledged every table around me, except for mine, & I proceeded to wait 20 min without any help. I literally had to get up from my seat & wait at the hostess stand to pay & leave. The service literally pissed me off & left a horrible taste.
Wonderful Valentine's dinner, delicious mushroom soup, goat cheese phyllo entree, cheese bouchés !
Seafood marmite, amazing ! Great salad & fabulous desserts, mi- cuit au chocolat & dessert
au chocolat & framboise exquisite !
Thank you,
We really enjoyed it ! We are regulars at your restaurant & love it !
We've dined at Le Surcouf many times before & have always enjoyed the food & atmosphere. That's why we chose it as the place to celebrate our wedding anniversary with friends. Unfortunately, the service during this visit was far below the standard we've come to expect.
From the beginning of the evening, it felt as though our table had been forgotten. It took quite a while for anyone to bring us menus or a wine list. Once we ordered, the appetizers arrived & were excellent-beautifully presented & full of flavor. The main courses were also delicious, with one exception: my friend's lamb, ordered medium, arrived nearly raw-far closer to blue than rare. She's not picky, but this was clearly undercooked. It took some time to flag someone down to return it to the kitchen, & we noticed another table nearby also sending their meat back. Dessert was enjoyable, but our coffees were brought to us afterward & served lukewarm. After finishing, we asked for the bill-but again, we were left waiting. We had to ask three different staff members before my husband eventually got up to find someone. He discovered the staff gathered in the back, drinking. When we finally received the bill, the waiter offered only a weak apology & questioned who we had spoken to earlier. I simply told him this wasn't the level of service we were used to, especially for a special occasion. He said nothing in response.
We still appreciate the food & the setting at Le Surcouf, but this experience was disappointing. We hope this was an off night & not a sign of declining standards. We have been to the Surcouf many times in the past.
It was clear that no one on staff knew who was responsible for our table. Throughout the evening, we were approached by five different people, none of whom seemed to be communicating with each other. At a restaurant known for its typically high standards of service, this lack of coordination was especially disappointing.
Marvelous!! The food was impeccable… from start to finish… Also, management was very flexible & I could enjoy my scallops with a magnificent mushroom sauce on the side. The duck appetizer was thinly sliced & beautifully presented. The dessert of warm chocolate cake with flowing chocolate inside, was the very best. I thank Magali, the owner, for a truly superb repast.
