Le Surcouf is a welcoming French restaurant established in a Victorian home for over 45 years now. Dominique and the chef Serge will be pleased to help you discover the fine French classic cuisine. In the fall the restaurant offers a special game menu in addition to their regular table d'hôte that you create yourself.
Le Surcouf consistently earns praise for excellent French cuisine, impeccable service, and a warm, elegant atmosphere in a charming old house with multiple intimate rooms. The wine list is excellent and dietary needs are well accommodated with gluten free options, making it a reliable choice for special occasions and relaxed dinners alike. While some guests note that prices can be on the higher side and that service can be slower on busy nights, the overall experience remains memorable and consistently high quality.
This restaurant has been our regular haunt for the past 26 years. Always has wonderful food, & a warm fireplace in the winter months to add to the ye olde world cozy atmosphere. A veranda section is equally great in summer or winter. Their Bistro menu makes it reasonably affordable, but does not compromise on quality of the cuisine as is offered on their a la carte, both of which have always been most enticing. Last night's experience was equally enjoyable with my two French guests, whose culinary senses were fully satisfied with the main course of pork with camembert & apple sauce, & cuts of beef beautifully presented, accompanied with a nice bottle of the house Bordeaux, followed by their killer profiteroles, & mi-cuit de chocolat as finishing desserts! Highly recommended for anyone who likes a great night out, one you will remember for a long time to come.
Another amazing dinner experience at this fantastic restaurant. With the owner always omnipresent & helping staff while making rounds from table to table, great service is assured. The cooking team is outstanding, putting out plate after plate of what is, in my opinion, Michelin quality food.
Although the wine selection is very respectable, the house wine is awesome.
Food ,service & attention to detail are all excellent. The bistro menu on weekdays maintains the quality at an affordable price. No background music is a plus.
Many smaller rooms means the noise level is much lower so you can enjoy you own conversation
Never been disappointed

We hadn't been in a couple of years although it was always a favourite. Glad to see the quality & service are still at 100%. These days it's not easy to find traditional French cuisine...everything is molecular this, gastronomic that... usually some celebrity chef-du-Jour showing off his cooking skills. But Le Surcouf remains true to its origins & purpose...outstanding traditional French cuisine. Sure, the flourishes & extra touches are there, but the backbone is wonderful taste sparing no expense in terrific ingredients. After all, where can you still get a whole sole Meunière, filleted & cleaned table-side. Or crepe suzettes flambeed before your eyes. Not that I mind creative cuisine, but it's always good to get back to the traditions that set the stage for everyone else. Le Surcouf is a West-Island gem that can compete with the best of downtown, & in a gorgeous setting. I needed smelling salts when I saw the bill, but it was worth it!
Pleasantly surprised by the choices in the menu, quality of food & very French dishes. Only reason not giving full 5 stars, welcome on arrival could be improved & the tuna tataki seemed not at its best but the rognon was quite good
We had a lovely meal here. Food was delicious, & very beautifully presented, service was exactly the right amount of attentive, & price was very good for the quality. We dined very early, so the place was pretty empty, but the overall ambience is relaxed but classy.

This place would be a hidden gem if it weren't for it's already well deserved reputation. Spectacular food & service. The private ambience makes for a fine dining experience focused on the food, wine. Fair value as well, considering the quality of the food.
I've been to Le Surcouf a few times over the years, & it's always a great experience. The cozy atmosphere is perfect for an intimate meal, & the service is consistently excellent. The owner is very present, visiting tables & adding to the general atmosphere of refined bonhomie. What the menu lacks in variety, they more than make up for in quality & as a fan of French cuisine, I'm always impressed with the dishes. You really can't go wrong with any choice on the menu. This is real gem on the West Island, & must-try at least once.
I have lived in the West Island for 17 years & only finally tried this place 😍 I can admit I have been missing out on such a gem! The food was delicious, the flavours were simple with such high quality. The atmosphere was so cosy & sophisticated & the service was lovely. Had a wonderful time. Their speciality wine is totally worth it!! Already excited to come & try more dishes 😊
Le Surcouf is our special place & it always excels, in ambiance, food quality, & service. The staff are so friendly & professional. Our meals were perfectly prepared & delicious.

The Service was great, I came here based on the Google reviews & I was let down. The food is way to overpriced, & the quality was below average. They did give one of our meals for free because my wife didn't touch it. Don't be fooled by all these Google reviews!
