The vibe was just what we were hoping for. Our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly & attentive... & the veal special was one of the best meals I have tasted. Great wine list.. I recommend the Cote du Rhone selection.

This restaurant is QUIET. What a welcome change from the usual where you can't even hear your own thoughts let alone your companions voice!
Charming, unassuming artwork-adorned atmosphere in an old house. Beautiful.
Service was impeccable- there when they ought to be & not there otherwise. Perfect timing on everything from ordering to service.
Portion sizes were perfect as well with amuse-bouche & palate cleanser served without needing to order. Just perfect. Warm goat cheese with walnuts was delicious!
The chateaubriand was cooked to perfection. The molten chocolate cake rich & not too sweet. The only reason I didn't rate food 5 stars was the vegetables - the potato's & green beans were simply steamed - a little boring & plain. But the mushrooms were excellent!
There were many items on this menu that I'd choose ; we will definitely return to this resto within the next 3 months & highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys classic cuisine in a peaceful atmosphere. Perfect date night spot.
This restaurant has been our regular haunt for the past 26 years. Always has wonderful food, & a warm fireplace in the winter months to add to the ye olde world cozy atmosphere. A veranda section is equally great in summer or winter. Their Bistro menu makes it reasonably affordable, but does not compromise on quality of the cuisine as is offered on their a la carte, both of which have always been most enticing. Last night's experience was equally enjoyable with my two French guests, whose culinary senses were fully satisfied with the main course of pork with camembert & apple sauce, & cuts of beef beautifully presented, accompanied with a nice bottle of the house Bordeaux, followed by their killer profiteroles, & mi-cuit de chocolat as finishing desserts! Highly recommended for anyone who likes a great night out, one you will remember for a long time to come.
We spent our anniversary here last week & the service was amazing, great recommendations from the waitress to try a variety of dishes which were all incredibly tasty & savoury. The wine selection was great & very fair priced. Definitely recommend the foie gras, & filet mignon. Loved our experience & we will definitely return.
Nous avons eu le plaisir de célébrer les 90 ans de ma belle-mère dans cet établissement, à l'occasion d'un repas réunissant 10 adultes & 3 jeunes enfants. Un menu, préalablement commandé & comprenant notamment champagne, vin blanc & café, nous a été proposé. L'ensemble des plats s'est distingué par une excellente qualité gustative & une présentation soignée.
Le service a été irréprochable du début à la fin, avec une équipe professionnelle, attentive & accueillante. Tout a été mis en oeuvre pour faire de cet événement familial un moment particulièrement réussi.

Our office luncheon of 18 experienced polished service & great food. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays completing the experience. Always delighted to recommend this restaurant
Ce restaurant est un véritable trésor caché ; une expérience culinaire inoubliable ! Dès notre arrivée, l'atmosphère chaleureuse & le décor élégant nous ont mis à l'aise. La cuisine était tout simplement spectaculaire ; chaque plat était savoureux & impeccablement présenté. We were a group of 14 celebrating a special birthday. Everything was perfect. I love that there restaurant is divided into different rooms so we had a space all to ourselves. Service was perfect - the waitress was wonderful - patient, smooth & she made her job look effortless . We had what we needed. Everything was beautifully presented & very tasty. The fixed menu option had so many choices - everyone was happy.

We live in Ottawa, but for many years now we have come to Le Surcouf for my husbands Birthday dinner in June, usually with some friends. We have traveled a lot in our business life, but Le Surcouf remains one of our most favourite Restaurants, one that checks all the boxes for Food, Service, Atmosphere & Price.

Super soirée dans ce restaurant trouvé un peu par hasard.
Dans une petite maison d'époque, au calme des avenues passantes des touristes.
Super service, crêpes suzette préparée à la table.
Les plats étaient soigneusement préparés, petit amuse bouche & trou normand entre les services qui rajoute ce côté gastronomique.
Un gros plus pour le sans gluten, ma copine étant coeliaque a pu trouver son bonheur très facilement. (Personnel très a l'écoute des allergènes)
Prix très correct, je recommande très fortement.

Totally amazing restaurant. Me, my mother & my brother had bought a 12-inch pizza & a poutine for only a total cost of ~40 dollars. The service came really fast & was extremely respectful. As for the food, it was delicious - one of the best local restaurants in Gaspésie. 10/10 would recommend.
Food ,service & attention to detail are all excellent. The bistro menu on weekdays maintains the quality at an affordable price. No background music is a plus.
Many smaller rooms means the noise level is much lower so you can enjoy you own conversation

Today I finally visited this, in my opinion, legendary restaurant. Before this, I had several unsuccessful attempts to reserve a table for the dates I wanted, but unfortunately, it was always fully booked. & today I succeeded. 😊
What can I say? A very, very beautiful interior, creating a feeling of luxury & coziness at the same time. Many paintings, beautiful furniture, truly interesting French music that perfectly complements the atmosphere. 🎶
The waiters are friendly, very hospitable, they know the menu inside & out & can perfectly pair drinks with any dish, making the choice even more enjoyable. 🍷
