J'ai choisi ce restaurant pour célébrer mon anniversaire en groupe (10 personnes), & c'est sans hésitation la pire expérience au restaurant que j'ai vécue.
Dès le départ, le serveur s'est montré impatient, insistant & franchement désagréable envers les invités en retard, revenant à notre table à répétition (3-4 fois) avec une attitude pressante & déplacée.
Le malaise a atteint un autre niveau lorsqu'il a servi des cocktails à deux de mes amies & s'est permis de les traiter d'«alcooliques». C'est totalement inacceptable, humiliant & non professionnel.
Aucune honnêteté concernant les menus 3 & 5 services. Le serveur nous a fortement poussés à choisir ces options en affirmant que « ça valait la peine », sans jamais mentionner les frais supplémentaires. Les coûts sont cachés en minuscules caractères à l'arrière du menu, sans aucune explication claire à l'avant du menu. Rien n'est transparent, tout est flou, & on a clairement l'impression d'être piégés au moment de la facture.
Le service a été désastreux. Mon copain, qui avait commandé un menu 5 services avec moi, n'a reçu aucune assiette lors du premier & du deuxième service, pendant que le reste de la table mangeait. Plus d'une heure d'attente entre le premier & deuxième service. Quand nous avons soulevé le problème, le serveur est devenu défensif, en mettant la faute sur nous en disant que notre commande n'était « pas claire », ce qui est totalement faux, considérant que plusieurs autres personnes à la tbaleavaient commandé un 5 ou 3 services & avaient leurs assiettes....
Quand j'ai demandé à parler à un supérieur, il m'a répondu sans gêne que c'était lui le boss (ce n'était pas le boss mais le manager). Aucune solution, aucune excuse, aucun effort. J'ai demandé de réduire le menu 5 services à un menu 3 services étant donné les plats manquants & l'attente interminable : refus immédiat, sans la moindre empathie.
En tant la personne fêtée, on m'avait explicitement dit de ne pas commander de dessert, au début, car il serait offert.
Résultat : j'ai reçu mon gâteau d'anniversaire, mais mon copain n'a jamais reçu le dessert dans son menu 5 service. J'ai donc payé mon propre gâteau d'anniversaire, ce qui est franchement insultant.
Aussi, franchement choquant : lorsqu'il a apporté mon gâteau d'anniversaire, le serveur n'a même pas chanté bonne fête, il a déposé froidement mon assiette sur la table & est reparti immédiatement. Ça créé un malaise & un moment de silence avant que mes amis comprennent que mon gateau était servi. Aucun respect.
En plus de tout ça, le calcul du pourboire était après les taxes, ce qui n'est pas conforme aux règles du Québec.
Honnêtement, je ne recommande ce restaurant à personne, & surtout pas pour un événement important. Manque total de respect, de professionnalisme & de considération pour les clients. Cette soirée a complètement gâché mon anniversaire.
It was so good. I rarely give reviews online, but this was definitely worth it. Everything was great & the food was so flavorful. The only thing, I would have appreciated if the server did a last call at our table & asked if we wanted something else before closing the kitchen (like most places do for food & bar) because I would have ordered dessert before the kitchen closed...I was celebrating a birthday. Otherwise, everything was good.

Belle découverte ! L'endroit est super original avec une déco qui sort de l'ordinaire & crée une belle ambiance. Le service était correct, rien à redire. Les plats étaient bons & convenables, & surtout on en ressort rassasié sans se sentir lourd, ce qui est appréciable. Le dessert au Matchaaaa j'ai adoré ! Les cocktails sont un peu chers, mais ça reste une belle adresse à tester pour l'expérience.
Visited for the 4 course dinner. All the food options we tried were phenomenal, it's an amazing deal for $45. From our cool menu on a vinyl, to the first plate all the way to the desserts, we were very impressed & plan on visiting again soon.
The ambiance, the food, the Oysters!!, the wine!....all so amazing, so good, so tasty! Our waiter, David, is the classiest, most knowledgeable polite & kind gentleman to ever serve our table - he remembered me from my previous visit last fall, what I ate, what I was allergic to...unbelievable. The Creme Brule with Maple Syrup (complimentary birthday dessert), was to die for. I recommend Le Speakeasy to anyone who is looking to have a classy evening, with excellent food, drink & music. We are definitely going back, many, many more times.
Excellent service & nos plats étaient succulents. On aurait bien voulu gouter aux desserts mais notre entrée & plat principal étaient généreux, nous étions bien remplis!!
So we asked the Concierge at our hotel for a dinner recommendation, & he gave us several. While out checking them, we discovered a man standing in front of a door to a deli with a clipboard. When I asked him whether we could go into the deli, he asked if my name "was on the list." I said, I didn't know, but since he apparently had the list, he could tell me...& that opened the door to our visit to Le Speakeasy.
Once your name is confirmed to be on the list, the doorman invites you in to the deli. Nothing out of the extraordinary, just a deli...until he invites you behind the counter. There, he opens the massive door to the freezer (see the picture) & you walk..only to find yourself in a rip-roaring speakeasy from the 1920s! What a hoot!
But as if the concept wasn't enough, the food was excellent. We started with fresh poured, alcohol rich, drinks & a Plateau Charcute (cold cut platter) for an appetizer. Expert selection of meats, they were tasty & readied us for an excellent meal. My wife had the Tacos de Homard, which were a version of seafood tacos but one laden with delicious vegetables as well. I had the Japanese gyosa stuffed with shrimp, & they were better than those served in an Asian restaurant I've ever eaten in. Without a doubt, the culinary highlight was dessert. We ordered the Chef Table dessert, & it was literally that--dessert prepared on the table. They laid down a clean table cloth & the chef came out from the kitchesn & prepared in right on the table cloth--& then we ate it right off the cloth. Amazing & just a blast.
When we got back to our hotel, we urged the concierge to add this restaurant to his list of recommendations, & he immediately made reservations for himself to eat there the next day. When we return to Montreal, Le Speakeasy will be a definite return mean for us! Don't miss it!
