Le serpent, an institution since 2013
Le Serpent opened its doors spectacularly on December 23, 2013 in Griffintown. Located in the Darling Foundry, an art-dedicated space, its name was borrowed from the former foundry, from the time when a massive pollution control duct crowned it. Today non-functional, this industrial artifact remains very present in the building’s architecture and the neighborhood’s urban landscape.
Founded by Hubert Marsolais and Claude Pelletier, also creators of Club Chasse et Pêche and Le Filet restaurant, Le Serpent offers a menu with strong Italian accents in a contemporary brasserie spirit, with a strong personality and equipped with a unique, high-quality wine list. The team of associates is brilliantly completed by chef Michele Mercuri and sommelier Philippe Boisvert. Designed by architect Annie Lebel of atelier in situ in collaboration with Hubert Marsolais, Le Serpent enhances the industrial qualities of the space. Contemporary arrangements that contrast with the building’s raw and refined aspect, offering about 80 seats and a bar that can accommodate a dozen people. Wishing to be an accomplice to all occasions, Le Serpent is open in the evening from Tuesday to Saturday. Exclusive caterer for Darling Foundry events, Le Serpent also welcomes groups of different sizes.
Le Serpent is also a collector and integrates major contemporary artworks into the restaurant space that dialogue with the Darling Foundry.

The staff were friendly, so no complaints there. However, the food was subpar! I was expecting more given its reputation. Also, the food took a while to come out. Finally, we had a 5 person reservation, however, they sat us at a 4 person table. We felt squished, the server even struggled serving us due to the lack of space.
Excellent ambience, uniquely contoured menu choices, & impressive character serving our group this evening.
Soirée exceptionnelle! Service A1 & nourriture parfaite. Merci !!
Le service a été impeccable, de la description des plats jusqu'aux conseils d'accord des vins. Les services ce sont succédés avec un time stamp parfait & les saveurs étaient parfaitement agencées.
love it food & service are excellent. just a bit too much noise
Great service & very friendly staff, but the food fell short given the price. The hamachi crudo was served with the red bloodline, which gave it a metallic taste, & the sea bass had some tough bites. The halibut was fine but unremarkable. The bucatini was tasty & spicy, though at this price it would benefit from at least some protein. Overall, the execution in the kitchen needs refinement to justify the cost. I gave 3 stars only because of the excellent service.
I am from the USA but grew up in Montreal, it's was great to find this restaurant, I enjoyed the food & the atmosphere, the crew was so welcoming & treated us like family. Vanessa work & recommended the place & I'm glad we tried it 😀
I'm so glad I overcame my hesitation to visit this restaurant based on some of the other reviews. Our server Laure was excellent, & the atmosphere was warm, curious, & beautiful. The food was delicious, very fresh, & unique. I don't always order duck for risk of it being too rubbery but their magret de canard might have been one of the most tender & well-cooked pieces of meat I've ever had. The risotto was so tasty & had a sort of citrusy sweetness that kept it from being too cloying. Highly recommend this restaurant for an intimate occasion needing a little boost of ambiance.
Not only the food is delicious but even the service is amazing, definitely a must try! Thank you to everyone working there, for this amazing experience!!!!
We sat at the bar. We don't remember her name to be honest. Extremely real. Not an NPC. Amazing suggestions. We were in Montreal for 6 days. We haven't felt more seen than being here. The food, the conversations, expertise. You need to come, & you will LOL. 10/10
The fish main dish was delicious complemented by nicely grilled vegetables. However, the starters & pastas were disappointing, particularly their signature bucatini, which was rather bland & lacking in flavour.
Good food & good service . Today is my daughter 18 years birthday & I choose this restaurant for her to have unforgettable night. She very enjoyed the food.Hope she will have good life & all the happiness.
Très belle adresse. Restaurant chic au décor épuré style industriel. Le service y est très bien comme la nourriture excellente. Il est conseillé de réserver votre table. Vous ne regretterez pas.
Lovely evening at Le Serpent, we LOVED the bucatini, duck, lobster appetizer & tiramisu. Would definitely recommend.
The service lacked attention to detail so it wasn't on the same level as the food. Adam was kind & professional & took great care of us from the kitchen. I had the veal which was a special, & the crudo was delicious.
Best restaurant we ate at in Montreal. My husband had the duck breast & he said it was one of the best things he's ever eaten. The server went above & beyond for our family. My only nit to pick was there was only one scallop in the scallop risotto...but definitely recommend to other foodies!
There will be no surprise in my review...
Le Serpent was simply fantastic!
The food was hmpf ! Delicious. We were a group of 6 people, & we all loved our different dishes.
The service was impeccable, with a friendly waiter & smiles all around.
This restaurant intrigued me since its opening because of its industrial ambiance, & I'm glad that I got to try it.
Food was very good. Portions were ok… but service was insane!!
probably the best i've had for a while !!! 6star service. I think adding some music & adjusting the lighting would help a lot.
