Le Serpent opened its doors spectacularly on December 23, 2013 in Griffintown. Located in the Darling Foundry, an art-dedicated space, its name was borrowed from the former foundry, from the time when a massive pollution control duct crowned it. Today non-functional, this industrial artifact remains very present in the building’s architecture and the neighborhood’s urban landscape. Founded by Hubert Marsolais and Claude Pelletier, also creators of Club Chasse et Pêche and Le Filet restaurant, Le Serpent offers a menu with strong Italian accents in a contemporary brasserie spirit, with a strong personality and equipped with a unique, high-quality wine list. The team of associates is brilliantly completed by chef Michele Mercuri and sommelier Philippe Boisvert. Designed by architect Annie Lebel of atelier in situ in collaboration with Hubert Marsolais, Le Serpent enhances the industrial qualities of the space. Contemporary arrangements that contrast with the building’s raw and refined aspect, offering about 80 seats and a bar that can accommodate a dozen people. Wishing to be an accomplice to all occasions, Le Serpent is open in the evening from Tuesday to Saturday. Exclusive caterer for Darling Foundry events, Le Serpent also welcomes groups of different sizes.
Le Serpent is also a collector and integrates major contemporary artworks into the restaurant space that dialogue with the Darling Foundry.

Le Serpent was an incredible experience from start to finish. We sat at the bar, which created a very intimate & comfortable atmosphere. The team was attentive, warm, & knowledgeable - especially our server, who was exceptionally well versed in the wine menu & guided us toward great pairings.
The food itself was outstanding. The octopus was tender & flavourful, the pasta was fresh & beautifully executed, & the fish - seared to absolute perfection - was one of the highlights of the night. Portion sizes were generous, & the pricing felt very fair for the quality & craftsmanship of the dishes.
A fantastic dining experience overall. We're already excited to return!
Perfect food with knowledgeable & welcoming staff.
Excellent atmosphere, with interesting'Industrial Pea Pod' light fixtures, & some great pipe-work art above the bar area. Not too noisy.
We went with the large group, & it was an extremely nice experience. The dishes came out at just the right time.
Here is the list of the problems:
1. It was too cold inside
2. They dont have sommelier for wine selection & the waiter wasn't really knowledgeable.
3. Cocktails were really average.
4. Food was average & way below the expectation.
Way over priced for the quality of what they provide. Money wasted. NOT RECOMMENDED, won't visit again.
We had an incredible dinner sitting at the bar. The food & drinks were delicious, & Ana went above & beyond to make our experience special. We will be back!

I'm a local Montréaler & passionate foodie. Travelled 🧳 to 30+ countries & I can tell you this is one of the best - if not the top - Montreal restaurant.
The chef (Adam) creativity & attention to detail is world class, & the manner how he works with the various flavours etc., is just pure art.

Loud, pasta undercooked, crudo - pretty sure they had that sitting in the fridge with plastic wrap on top because the plate had so much condensation on it & smelled fishy!
Duck magret was delicious. Everything else disappointing.
What a great place! Beautiful space! Impeccable service! We had Ivana telling us all about the food that is extraordinary & she helped us matching food with wine perfectly! Highly recommend the restaurant!
Entrées were good, but main courses were outstanding. For the overall price though, service was not incredible (at the bar). As a couple times for the drinks, & no more water a couple times & had to ask for more multiple times too. It's fine normally, but at the price point of the place, it makes it feel overpriced.
Wow!! I loved this place. The food & service were amazing. We shared a few appetizers, the main course, dessert & wine were delicious. It has a great vibe. I highly recommend!! As an out of town guest I'm glad we had the experience to dine here.
Great food with nice staff, me & my boyfriend drive from Toronto to Le Serpent every year to try out different menu. Good vibes too, definitely will come back for the 4th time☺?

One of our favorite restaurants to visit every year. Nails the atmosphere, great staff who are attentive, organized, & friendly without being too much. & the food is exceptional. Best risotto of my life, & fresh pasta that competes with the best.
Not worth the hype unfortunately. The staff were friendly, so no complaints there. However, the food was subpar! I was expecting more given its reputation. Also, the food took a while to come out. Finally, we had a 5 person reservation, however, they sat us at a 4 person table. We felt squished, the server even struggled serving us due to the lack of space.
