Le serpent, an institution since 2013
Le Serpent opened its doors spectacularly on December 23, 2013 in Griffintown. Located in the Darling Foundry, an art-dedicated space, its name was borrowed from the former foundry, from the time when a massive pollution control duct crowned it. Today non-functional, this industrial artifact remains very present in the building’s architecture and the neighborhood’s urban landscape.
Founded by Hubert Marsolais and Claude Pelletier, also creators of Club Chasse et Pêche and Le Filet restaurant, Le Serpent offers a menu with strong Italian accents in a contemporary brasserie spirit, with a strong personality and equipped with a unique, high-quality wine list. The team of associates is brilliantly completed by chef Michele Mercuri and sommelier Philippe Boisvert. Designed by architect Annie Lebel of atelier in situ in collaboration with Hubert Marsolais, Le Serpent enhances the industrial qualities of the space. Contemporary arrangements that contrast with the building’s raw and refined aspect, offering about 80 seats and a bar that can accommodate a dozen people. Wishing to be an accomplice to all occasions, Le Serpent is open in the evening from Tuesday to Saturday. Exclusive caterer for Darling Foundry events, Le Serpent also welcomes groups of different sizes.
Le Serpent is also a collector and integrates major contemporary artworks into the restaurant space that dialogue with the Darling Foundry.

I would highly recommend the venison if it is on offer. The Rococo is one delicious way to end your meal. The dining room is somewhat small & quite ambient so if a neighboring table is loud it affects everyone.
Amazing food but I mean amazing. Better pasta & tiramisu than I ate in Italy! I recommend strongly the octopus as apetizer, the linguine with speck & the special of the day was beef & it was tender & absolutely delicious! Nice interior design & decor. Love the pub bistro chic vibe. Amazing customer service also. It shows they have the care for their guess to have a good time.
Quelle belle découverte !!! Tout y est pour une soirée parfaite : accueil chaleureux, service impeccable (merci Xavier & Mia), chef extrêmement talentueux, décor épuré & raffiné, nourriture exquise. Nous avons laissé le chef prendre le contrôle de nos plats & tout était absolument délicieux. Je recommande sans hésiter ! Merci à toute l'équipe !
Overall, it was a fantastic experience accentuated by high-quality dishes & attentive service. For appetizers, we had the special wild mushroom toast, which was simply divine, & the octopus dish which was quite solid. Main course we shared a branzino dish where for me the star of the dish was actually the vegetable medley. Our daughter chose the duck & it was absolutely lovely. Drinks were well made & the tiramisu dessert with an espresso shot on top was mind blowing. Highly recommend this bit out of the way restaurant
The food was good, especially the pasta dishes. The service was not... We were given the wrong salad, (we receive a bowl of lettuce with no dressing, nothing instead of the summer salad). I asked for the menu & did not receive it so I got up & walked to the front to retrieve it. It was not taken off the bill & it took us 30 minutes to receive the bill. Our drinks also arrived after our main course. Overall, bad experience & would not recommend eating in.
J'ai récemment dîné au restaurant Serpent & l'expérience a été délicieuse. Les plats étaient savoureux & bien présentés. J'ai particulièrement apprécié . Le personnel était accueillant & attentif, ce qui a rendu la soirée encore plus agréable. Je recommande vivement ce restaurant pour une excellente expérience culinaire.
It was my second time eating here (first time was last year). I came back because my first time was so good. I had lobster risotto both times, & both times it was delicious. Great food & great cocktails. Extensive wine list. Easily one of my favourite restaurants in Montreal! Reservations are recommended. My only wish is if they had more gluten free dessert options.
Excellente pâtes, notre serveuse était géniale, connaissais très bien les vins offert sur la carte ( son nom m'échappe malheureusement). Très belle soirée, je recommande!
Bel espace. L'équipe est aux petits oignons pour la clientèle. Les plats sont raffinés & d'excellente qualité. Les suggestions de vins sont toujours de très bons choix. Je recommande.
Located in some industrial building in an area seemingly with nothing going on is this restaurant. Cool lighting & atmosphere, good service & food came out quickly. Food portions weren't huge but rabbit & venison dishes were well presented & tasted very good. Definitely more premium pricing but recommended none the less.
Insanely delicious! Highly recommend. They had a truffle risotto special that was soo soo good! The cod was so fresh & amazing. You need to eat here!
