Great for pretending you're in Paris - minus the space, plus the BYOB. 🍷
Parking around this spot can be quite tricky. The food quality is decent - they serve a fixed menu concept, but with enough choices to keep things interesting. Big portion for Asian appetite
To be fair, for the price you pay, the food is more than reasonable. The real highlight is definitely that it is BYOB! We brought 3 bottles with no corkage fee…
The place is extremely small, truly giving off the vibe of a cozy Parisian bistro.
Would I go back? Probably not, since Montreal has so many other great French restaurants to choose from.
The restaurant doesn't open every day, so it's best to make a reservation in advance. It serves very traditional French cuisine with simple but solid ingredients - especially generous portions of meat. The set menu comes to about $80+ per person after tax. The restaurant is quite small but cozy, with a warm atmosphere. Every dish was delicious, & even ordering without much thought felt safe - nothing disappoints here. - Bread: Cold, butter softened, chicken liver pate - phenomenal. I could eat it all.
- Soup. Rutabaga, very clean, flavourful & perfect hotness for the mouth.
- The froe grois: Cold like a stick of butter.
- Creamy, smooth, bread was lightly toast very airy. Apricot citrus balance & roasted peanuts.
- Duck breast: cooked medium, it could be rarer. Flavour was on point. Very full with the potato like root in bottom. Crispy skin. Demi-glaze. Beans carrots & Bok choy.
- Crème brûlée: thin sugar brûlée on top. Creme was creamy with a touch of French vanilla. Maple syrup.
- Chocolate mousse : nice presentation, too sweet. It didn't need the extra caramel or chocolate sauce on top. The peanuts complimented the texture & taste.
The portion size for each dish is very generous. Cost to Quality to quantity 👍🏻👍🏻
We noticed many people brought their own wine to pair with the food.
Food came out quickly, after each dish was served.
Restaurant is very cozy & quaint. There is barely any room between the neighbouring tables. When the server was at the other table, his butt bumped into my arm twice. It was rather firm.
I would Highly Recommend it this restaurant to everyone.
I will come back.
Very small restaurant but everything was perfect!
The service, the environment, the food - literally everything was fantastic.
Will go again 10000%
Edit:
Went back again 5 months after & still fantastic!
Cozy & welcoming restaurant with the best atmosphere, food & service
Will continue to go back!
Nestled in-between homes was this cute & cozy restaurant. Everything from the starters to the dessert were great! I tried the beef profiteroles, joue de boeuf & the tarte tartin. My husband had the bison bavette for his main but was a bit disappointed with the flavour - it did not taste like bison, it tasted like beef. He had the pavlova for dessert - it is hard to choose which was the better dessert option - the tartin or the pavlova as they were both great!
The cons of the evening were the service - the waiters didn't take time to explain the menu options even though the menu is small & they aren't very attentive (they didn't
refill our water unless we asked them to). The AC also was not on so it was very hot & sticky inside the restaurant.
Overall - great food & we would recommend this BYOW restaurant!
What a charming restaurant! A hidden gem in Montreal with a cozy atmosphere. Tables are very close to each other but it only makes you feel like you are invited to a big gathering at a friend's house. Everything was absolutely delicious. The portions were generous & the prices are very affordable. They don't sell alcohol, so make sure to bring your own wine. & there is no corkage fee which is fantastic. The service was perfectly balanced - thoughtful without being intrusive. We are definitely going back to try other things on the menu which is constantly changing.
If you're looking for a cozy yet intimate date night, this is the one! Also works for small family gatherings. It's small, but loved it.
Cozy little French restaurant in a calm neighbourhood. Our waiter was very friendly & polite. Food was great, loving the Escargots & Trou Normand a lot. Will recommend.
An authentic French restaurant with great quality & freshness. I'd recommend you to go to this place if you want to try true French culinary delights & cuisine, without having to pay $4-500, like other French fine dinings. Their menu is traditonal & basic rather than too much of artificialities, which I like. Cozy French atmosphere is a plus!
I really like the restaurant - it's cozy & intimate. The service was also good & friendly. I think their appetizers & desserts definitely require some improvement in their taste. However, considering the price is really affordable, I think I will come back.
One of our favorite restaurants in montreal. Delicious four course dining, cozy atmosphere & very good value. Our fav is Profiteroles with Honey & Braised Beef, The Bison, rack of lamb & tarte tatin for dessert 😋
So authentic & cozy! This place feels like you're sitting in your own home with an amazing chef preparing your meal. The food is really tasty. They offer a fixed menu where you choose your starter, main course, & dessert. Pègase is a bring-your-own-wine restaurant. The dishes could compete with those from a fine dining establishment-they are super tasty. I was so happy with the service; everyone was incredibly friendly.
10/10! Great food & amazing price. The restaurant is small but cozy. The food is sooooo good! Will come back for sure
Cozy restaurant, staffs are friendly, food is next level. Simple sweet potato soup but taste is so comforting , my son finished the whole bowl in one go. Duck confit as appetizer is delicious. Short ribs is tender & juicy, the best I had. Creme Brulee is so creamy, rich in eggs & with a crunchy topping. We had a delightful meal, will definitely come back.
One of the best places I've been in Montreal. Delicious food & cozy place
Very cozy & homey restaurant. Delicious food & excellent service.great vibe!
This place is keeping the quality. Amazing food with cozy atmosphere. Just go & enjoy.
