I was here two years ago & had the best meal ever, the Maritime Poached Egg. However, when I returned this year the menu completely changed & the portions were half the size. I couldn't find the order I had last time, so I just ordered something else, the foie gras. It was okay, not as special.

I've been going to this restaurant for the past few years & have always had a great experience. The food has been delicious, the ambiance is great & the service as well. However, during my most recent visit this weekend, I ordered what I usually order, the foie gras poached egg, & I was disappointed to say the least. I'm not sure what has changed but the egg was cold, the foie gras was tasteless & the bread was dismal (honestly SO BAD). I'm not sure if there was something happening that day or not but I'm not sure I'll be returning anytime soon. At least the coffee & tea were good 🥲

Golden confit duck & silky bone marrow piled onto country-style bread, crowned with a perfectly poached duck egg that spills like velvet. Earthy chanterelles, sweet green peas, manchego shavings, & a creamy tarragon sauce tie it all together, finished with herb-salted crumble & fresh mizuna shoots.
Rich, comforting, & just refined enough to feel like a slow celebration rather than a meal. #RestaurantBrunchLePasseCompose #Montreal

I came here after seeing Le Passé Composé heavily recommended on social media & marketed as one of Montreal's best brunch spots. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the hype.
Our group all ordered the foie gras. I initially wanted to order the pancakes with maple syrup, nuts, & sugar, but they were already sold out. While the waitresses were polite & attentive, the food itself was disappointing. The foie gras portion was extremely small & felt more like a piece of bread topped with a poached egg than a true foie gras dish. On top of that, the food arrived almost cold.
Even though the wait time was reasonable, the quality-to-price ratio is simply not there. I paid $57 (including tip) for the foie gras & an iced matcha latte, which I would not recommend at all. it was about 90% milk & 10% matcha, & once mixed, it tasted like flavorless green milk.
Overall, I would suggest saving your trip & going to another brunch spot, such as Allô Mon Coco. While the food may be less'exotic,' the quality & quantity is noticeably better for the exact same price or even less.

The service was good but the food fell a bit flat, especially for the prices they charge. Grilled cheeses for $30+ that are decent at best. We also had the bone marrow duck confit poached egg which to be honest tries to be too many things at once & loses itself in the myriad of fancy ingredients. We were in good company so we enjoyed ourselves but I had much better food for a fraction of the price.

I went on a Saturday for brunch around 10am & was able to get a table for 2 easily but around 10:40, the host was notifying people that they could not fit them in until much later.

The food was AMAZING! I ordered the croque monsieur & it was perfection. My partner ordered the rustic poached egg & it was also amazing.

Our waitress was very nice but the service was a little slow but it allowed us to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere a little bit longer! I will definitely be back when I visit Montreal again.

I'd been meaning to try this place for over a year, so expectations were high. Finally made it in for brunch & went straight for the Eggs Benedict-hard to go wrong with a classic.

Except, somehow, they did. The poached egg came out fully cooked, yolk & all. I actually sat there wondering if Montreal had its own version of'poached,' & even double-checked the menu to see if this was some intentional twist. Nope. Just a regular Benny.

They offered to replace the egg, which is fair, but still-how do you charge this much for an Eggs Benedict & not get the poached egg right?

Kind of a letdown, especially after looking forward to it for so long.

Absolutely disappointed! From the moment we walked in, the restaurant smelled like eggs not what you expect from a place with such a strong reputation in Montréal.

I ordered my dish without meat, yet it arrived covered in meat. After chasing down servers, my plate was taken back. While waiting, we had to share the other plate at the table. When mine finally came, it was cold, unappealing, & the egg that should have been soft & runny was overcooked. I could barely eat a few bites of the brioche.

We were offered a few items as a gesture, but that doesn't make up for what was supposed to be a pleasant, refined brunch that turned into a very poor experience. In the end, we still paid for two plates: one we shared while waiting, & one that was practically inedible. No apology, no real care. Not the level of quality you expect from a place like this in Montréal.

We had breakfast here this morning when they opened at 9:00. The foie gras was quite pricey-$45 for two pieces of bread, two eggs, & two slices of foie gras, or $35 if you order just one slice with an egg & bread. The taste was good though; the foie gras was tender, rich, & a bit oily.

The other dishes were decent as well-overall above average, not bad at all, though I would say the prices are on the higher side. The location is nice, & the music adds to the atmosphere. It's a good place to try, but not necessarily a must-visit.

Beautiful setting, attentive staff, & food that was both well-presented & delicious. I ordered the mushroom'champêtre' eggs benedict &, as you can see, the presentation was beautiful. The taste matched the look. Without further ado, I recommend it!

OBS: I found it slightly more expensive than it should be, but at least they deliver quality

I went to Le Passé Composé for brunch with a couple of friends, & we had such a lovely time. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, with a warm, modern, & elegant vibe.

I ordered the Champêtre, & it honestly blew me away. The combination of flavors & textures was so thoughtful & creative - a poached duck egg on brioche, wild mushrooms, pulled pork, & a creamy sauce. The crispy potato chips added such a perfect finishing touch. Every bite was balanced without feeling heavy - truly next level.

We came to catch up & relax, & this place delivered on every front: amazing food, great service, & a beautiful ambiance. Le Passé Composé is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates an elevated brunch in Montreal.

food was really good, I got the eggs Benedict with mushrooms (it has a fancier name but in forgetting!) & a cocktail with matcha. The cocktail was really good as it had jalapeno in it which I didn't except to like but it had a really nice balance! The eggs Benedict was filling & very good.

Really great brunch spot. It's on the fancier side in terms of atmosphere, service & price. Quite a hefty price for brunch but it was worth it. The champêtre (mushroom & pork) poached eggs were amazing 10/10. Would order again. Lamb sandwich was also amazing. They unfortunately didn't have any soup so that was a bummer, we had to settle for the potatoes which weren't that good. The coffee was a bit lukewarm, would have liked it much hotter. The seating was also a bit crammed but I guess they need to maximize tables for their business

I enjoyed my time here. The coffee was perfect, served with a thick cream on the side. There was also a wide variety of cocktails, including special morning cocktails. My favourite breakfast option Egg Benedict, but there were several other delicious choices.

As a side note, I hope they replace the worn-out menu book.

Poached egg with bone marrow might just be the best meal I've ever had in my life. Had a large group & service was fantastic.

Brace yourself for some seriously DELICIOUS sandwiches! Amazing taste, cute place & veeeeery nice staff. With its art deco design, this restaurant gives a very romantic setting for a brunch/lunch/coffee date. As for the food, tasty, fresh, delicious, in one word, AMAZING! I tried a lot of sandwiches places in this specific neighborhood, & it's the first time I want seconds! I recommend the classic & the club. Finally, the coffee is also delicious & very flavorful. Also, if you want to try the brunch, make a reservation in advance, a lot of demand & for a very good reason, delicious food ! Try the French bread (deep fried with fresh fruits & a very tasty cream) & the foie gras with eggs (available without pork), it's to die for !
