Review Summary

Le Lafrance Bistro offers a picturesque orchard and a wide range of apple based products, with on-site tastings and a shop carrying items from cider and brandy to pastries and breads. Families and friends can enjoy a self-pick apple orchard, a spacious area for picnics, a playground, animals, and live music, while visitors describe the setting as beautiful and welcoming with friendly staff. The bistro provides a sugar shack style menu and meals that many reviewers praise for being delicious and generous, along with a good view from the dining area. Reviewers highlight the fried apple doughnuts as a standout and note the tasting in the shop as tasty, with a variety of products to take home. However, some criticisms appear about crowds and a more commercial feel, with an entrance fee for apple picking, extra charges for bags, and price concerns for some foods and drinks. Service quality is described as mixed, with several praising attentive staff and knowledgeable guides, while others report delays during peak times or lapses in service. Overall, Le Lafrance Bistro is seen as a family friendly and vibrant destination for apple lovers, local treats, and a lively atmosphere, best experienced early in the season or on weekdays to avoid crowds.

A large orchard with a wide variety of apples. It's especially worth mentioning that their brandy tastes great.

Place is nice, apples so good

The good: entertainment for kids & live musicians, animals & food options.
The Bad: Too commercial for our taste & the apple variety was limited. Also, some food options & drinks were overpriced compared to nearby farms.
The Ugly: You have to pay entrance fee for Apple picking & then pay your bag according to its volume at the end. Not cool.

Very friendly place. We went for a walk through the apple trees. Season is over, but we were still able to enjoy the place & our afternoon. The view from their food place is amazing.

The best fried apple doughnuts around! They are great for days in the fridge & are rugged enough to slice & toast like a bagel! Bonus: baby animals! Gorgeous terrain. We had a dégustation in the shop & everything was so tasty we took home one of each!

I visited this place recently after 5-6 years, & it's changed quite a lot. It's very crowded now, but still has a nice atmosphere & is full of life. However, I was not happy with the back bag inspection after finishing the pick-up, which felt unnecessary. There's a $4 entrance fee, plus additional charges for apple bags. Another issue is that the tractor ride back is only for return trips & tends to be very crowded, which could be managed bette

A very nice place with many apple trees. In May, you can visit to see the beautiful apple blossoms. There's a local farm market where they sell various apple based products. The on-site restaurant is clean & pleasant. I recommend trying the grilled chicken sandwich & sitting upstairs, where you can enjoy a nice view of the garden.

This is our go to sunny Sunday convertible drive destination. Spring through fall there is always something good to taste. Apple products, good food & for those that enjoy alcohol there is gin & wine & cider.

Amazing. You can pick different kinds of apple & outside you can buy apple wine. In weekends is super crowded & busy. In weekends finding a parking spot is not that much easy

Excellent locations, tons of apple varieties & well suited for kids & families of all ages. Tractor rides (included) for the young & old. I'd recommend getting a loaner wagon once you come in, apple bags get heavy quickly! Apple donuts are fantastic! Start with a stop at the bakery (just feet before the entrance) & grab an apple cider & apple donut. You won't regret it. Some of the best apples are at the back of the orchard, consult the maps all over the site & seek out some of the varieties you haven't heard of as much. Adults, take a quick visit to the distillery at the top of the hill & try some of the great spirits they make there, it's well worth your time to stop in & taste. All in all highly enjoyable, expect to spend about 2-3 hours here.

Beautiful orchard on a hill top providing amazing views of the rural landscape & Montreal from afar. Great varieties of apples to pick from. Small goat farm & plenty of activities for children & adults!

Huge place, huge orchard! Delicious apple donuts. It was very very packed though, I presume due to the popularity of their orchard, donuts & distillery!

A bit disappointed that there were no more honeycrisps or galas left to pick, & it was only the second weekend of the honey crisp season. I think that could have been mentioned at the entrance or communicated over social media, because most people come for those two kinds of apples as they are rarely offered for u-pick. Many people drive long distances, just for that. & yes, the crowds were insane, long lines at the store, washrooms, donuts, & we had to park quite far away along the road.

Creating high-quality indigenous cider in Lafrance that reflects the region's apple varieties, production techniques, & an original recipe would involve the following key elements: 1. Apple Varieties Unique to Quebec: Quebec has a rich heritage of apple varieties that can lend unique characteristics to cider. Some prominent varieties include: McIntosh: A classic Quebec variety known for its sweet-tart balance, often used in cider for its crispness. Cortland: Similar to McIntosh but with a slightly sweeter flavor. Empire: A cross between McIntosh & Red Delicious, providing a complex flavor with both sweet & tart notes. Spartan: A sweeter apple, good for adding richness to a cider blend. Lobo: A tangy variety ideal for adding acidity & crispness to the cider.
