Reviews often mention
egyptian(17) sandwich(16) cafe(12) coffee(9) ful(8) vibe(8) market(6) pita(6) bol(6) sandwiches(5) hawawshi(5) prix(5)im egyptian & i came here expecting an authentic egyptian experience, given the name, kahera. i understand its a fusion concept but nothing about my visit made me feel like home. its more of a progressive style, so keep that in mind. the price for one howowshi sandwich was a bit outrageous, $14+tax. the taste wasnt bad but it definitely isnt worth that pricetag for only one sandwich & no sides. it was also disappointing that i went for their koshari & was told they only serve it in the winter, they should make that clear on socials/website. overall disappointed in my visit but every establishment has their audience
Belle ambiance, bonne musique & bon service.
Cute little Egyptian Cafe. The owners are amazing & so many choices of local beer & wine.
Food is excellent. Def need to pass by if you're in the area.
Ful pita was so flavourful & vegan! It was so good I ate mine & then half my friend's, who was too full (pun intended) to eat the rest of her's as they are so big boys!
On reviendra !
I'm Egyptian, so my review is based on authenticity first,
The Ful: It has absolutely no relation to any authentic Egyptian Ful recipe, it was good, very good, but not Egyptian.
Beed (Eggs) Bastirma, too much western additions, 2.5/5
Hawawshi, very good, taste 4/5, authenticity: 3/5
Bread: Tiny, you'd need at least two. I was served a tiny piece of bread.
Overall experience was not bad, but I don't think I'll come back.
If you're not Egyptian though, you'll be very satisfied. Because you wouldn't tell the difference. 😅
Go-to coffee shop next to jean talon market. Quality coffee, amazing & food (must try their shakshouka, its in sandwich form!)
In the summer they have a watermelon salad that is delicious! Lovely staff as well, as a local to little italy, it's a must for your daily coffee run!
I was a bit excited when I found out about this place online & decided to go right away since I do miss Egyptian food but I got really disappointed from the way I was treated - totally unfriendly staff - maybe because I arrived 6:30 while they close by 7. If it is late, I don't mind getting told that the kitchen is closed like any restaurant & would walk away normally. But instead I got treated in a stressing way like that made me feel unwelcome & mistreated that got me disappointed a lot which made me decide to never visit this place again.
To be honest, the chef was friendly & nice person - the food I would give it 4/5.
Hope this kind of issues not to be repeated with other customers as this place has a good potential.
Note my order was a takeout.
The food was very tasty, only shakshuka could have some salt in it. I wish the owner install an AC as the place is filled with the smell of boiled oil & can be annoying for dine in.
