Review Summary

Le Colonel Moutarde is widely recognized as a vibrant and cozy destination for those seeking a mix of board games, well-crafted cocktails, and casual comfort food. Visitors frequently praise the friendly and attentive staff who are helpful in suggesting and explaining a wide variety of games, contributing to an entertaining and cinematic atmosphere highlighted by unique local murals. While many patrons appreciate the diverse menu, including creative pizzas, and the fun, social environment suitable for dates or group outings, some experiences are mixed regarding pricing and service expectations. A few visitors noted that the game fee policy and pressure to purchase food or leave tips can be unexpected, and occasional concerns were raised about game quality or food value. Overall, the establishment remains a popular spot for its lively vibe, thoughtful service, and extensive selection of tabletop entertainment.

We came here expecting to play games for a couple of hours, & potentially order a little something to snack on.

We had been to Randolph many times in the past, & normally just paid the entrance fee, played a couple of games, then left. We were never pressured to order drinks, food, or tip the employees.

The vibe was entirely different here. We were seated & the menu was explained to us. We said we would start with water. Waiter came back & asked if we were ready to order. We said that we wanted to play a game or two first. He told us to PROMISE HIM that we would order something later, as apparently it's policy for us to purchase something ? Nowhere was this listed on their website. He told us his colleague would come see us for a game. We waited 5 minutes, no one showed up. We had to get the game ourselves & figure out the rules. 45 minutes later, the game guy finally came to our table. Please note that at this point, we had ordered something. The game guy only came to our table once we ordered food, & took his time getting there (although the place was far from being full).

Also, the games were falling apart & missing pieces.

Finally, we got up to leave & paid the bill. The waiter from the beginning showed us a tip jar for his colleague who explained the games & told us that tips are encouraged. My boyfriend & I felt pressured to leave a tip. I paid the entrance fees & didn't tip, & my boyfriend tipped 15% on the food.

Please don't come here if you want to play games & chill. Come here & expect to be basically forced to buy their overpriced food & be pressured by waiters to tip them.

Let me tell you. The cocktails here are delicious. I got a'Le Foulard' cocktail & I would come here again just to drink this, it was so good.
I also got Butter Chicken as a meal. The sauce was delicious but the chicken was very chewy.

The service here was exceptional. The servers were attentive & the game masters were very helpful in choosing & teaching us how to play every game. There was a game fee but that's totally logical.

I was here with coworkers for about 4 hours & we had a lot of fun.

They include tax on the menu which I think is cool. The only thing I didn't like about the atmosphere was that it was cold & the music was very loud.

Anticipating a comprehensive review after sampling the food & cocktails. Initially, my visit was focused on enjoying a drink & engaging in some board games. The experience surpassed expectations. The staff exuded friendliness & warmth, with a special mention for the board games animator who took the time to guide through various games, offering intriguing suggestions. The ambiance struck a perfect balance between cool & cozy, making it an ideal spot for those chilly winter nights. Worth noting, the convenience of accessibility from the Mont Royal Metro station adds to the overall appeal. Looking forward to the culinary experience & updating the review accordingly.

I despise QR code menus. As does most people. Service good, a little ott. Good selection & drinks expensive & you feel a little pressured to buy more by the talk you receive at the beginning of sitting down. Great service on games, the guys are knowledgeable. Anglo Friend'y!!
