It's been closed ever since until May of this year when they reopened to diners. It was so nice to be able to eat here again, though the style has changed drastically. Still very pleasant. Good service, we had Thomas as our waiter, he was very attentive. The food was excellent, not large portions, but the quality was very good. Will go back, especially once they have their Sunday brunch operating. A bit of a shame that there are no tables for eating in the grand hall. This may change in the future, I don't know. However you can still visit the room.
I enjoyed my evening here. I had heard about the 9th floor restaurant since I moved to Montreal 20 years ago. Eating here was a definite bucket list event. I'm not exactly sure how everything works, but unfortunately, the restaurant doesn't seem to be located in that huge, tall room we have all seen black & white photos of. The space was fine & had a nice view though. The food was all well prepared & tasty although we all thought the menu was a little boring. The star of the show was the service. For me, the service was absolutely perfect. We were kind of hard on service to begin with. Our original reservation made months ago was for ten. People canceled in 1's & 2's over time & we showed up as a party of four. Since they were booked solid we ended up at a large table next to the kitchen door. Not ideal, but 100% our fault. Our server was fun, knowledgeable & was always nearby without pestering us with American style "how's everything tasting here?" check-ins every 5 minutes. Honestly, I think I would have given this place 5 stars even if the food wasn't as good, just based on the service. The noise level was comfortable & we were easily able to hold a conversation at the table (so rare in Montreal!). I thought the price was reasonable. Not necessarily a bargain but certainly worth every penny.
Excellent menu & service in a well appointed space. The original art deco interior details add a nice touch to the ambiance. All staff members we interacted with were courteous & knowledgeable regarding the menu. The oysters were the highlight of our meal. Highly recommended for those looking for an upscale meal in a nice setting.
Service is top notch & the esthetic of a fully restored dinning room is wonderful. I would recommend this place to anyone who's a fan of gastronomy but also historical places in Montreal.
Lovely restaurant in a historic art deco space. Server was kind & attentive. The food was divine: mushroom ravioli & the bread service were highlights.
C'était délicieux! Le service était impeccable. Aux petits soins!
Everything was superb...fish & chips...chicken breast...garlicky loaf of bread...our glass of wine...the staff...the atmosphere...want to go back!! The fries should be homemade or they should offer other side orders like rice or mash...
Shared a wonderful meal with family & friends last Tuesday. The food was absolutely delicious - the balance of flavors & the presentation were perfect. Great seafood, scrumptious vegetable & meat dishes (our group had lamb, duck & beef tartare). Super service in an beautifully restored setting. A jewel of an experience. Thank you, team 9ieme!
We ordered 5 sides at lunch to share. All were delicious. Impeccable service & stunning atmosphere.
Whether you're coming for cocktails or a bite to eat, travel back in time & enjoy the ambiance. Don't be shy to stand up & walk around & check the surroundings once inside.
lets start with good things, service is amazing. but the foods is so so for the price. Maybe there is still adjustment to do in the kitchen.
