L'avant gout is my go-to grocery store. The owner & his staff are always incredibly friendly, welcoming, & helpful. The products are consistently great quality, & they genuinely try to accommodate whenever you need something specific. It's always a pleasant experience shopping there. Highly recommend supporting this local gem.

L'Avant Goût Épicerie is a hidden gem, it's exactly what a neighbourhood grocery shop should be. The selection of local Québec products is thoughtfully selected - from artisanal cheeses & small-batch preserves to locally roasted coffee & unique pantry staples you won't find in big chains.

You can tell the owners cares about the quality & community. Everything feels intentionally chosen, highlighting regional producers & seasonal ingredients. It's the kind of place where you pop in for one item & leave inspired to cook a three course meal!

The staff are warm, knowledgeable, & happy to share recommendations, which makes the experience feel personal rather than transactional.

If you're in Montréal & want to support local while shopping for truly great products, this spot is absolutely worth the visit!

The products are local. The prices used to be fine, but within just three weeks the price of watermelons went up (in mid September), & unfortunately the quality was not good at all.
