Taken together, reviews depict Lattuca Barbecue as a standout Texas style smokehouse in Montreal with generous portions and a focus on tender, smoky meats like brisket and beef ribs that many visitors consider among the best outside Texas. The sides such as mac and cheese, coleslaw, and baked beans are frequently praised for flavor, though a few comments note issues with temperature or consistency and some meat being slightly dry or overly salty. A verbally delivered menu and the absence of a fixed menu are repeatedly mentioned, along with occasional service flaws, wait times, and higher prices, especially for sharing platters. The atmosphere is described as warm, casual, and welcoming with attentive staff and a clear passion for pit cooking, drawing locals and visitors from far away who often say the experience is worth the trip. Overall, the brisket and beef ribs emerge as the standout items that keep guests returning, even as some visits remind that peak times can impact service and value.
Beef brisket is one of my favourites when it comes to smoked meats/BBQ. The last time I was in Montreal pre pandemic in 2019, I visited Lattuca so I had to have it again during my visit in September 2023.
Somehow, it didn’t have the same deep smoky delicious flavour it had before but don’t get me wrong, it was ok, not bad, just a little drier than before (maybe a fluke this time? so I’m still giving it a higher rating 4* due to my good experience years ago).
The smoked beans were great & so was the coleslaw, not too sour. Can’t go wrong with their sides, pretty good.
Unfortunately it was very underwhelming. I heard good things about Lattuca but don't understand. The food was OK. The restaurant looks like minimal effort was done make it interesting (not much decoration, visible wires from the TV not working), the food is overpriced & the bathroom was filthy (urine on the bowl, dirty plunger on the floor, dirty floor & door). I'll likely not return but seems like this was built for tourist.
I would say, one of the best places in Canada who sell brisket.
Juicy, tasty meat flavor.
In my opinion, if the smoking flavor can be a little bit more stronger I would give them 5?
The Brisket & pulled pork was worth the drive into the city. The meats was tender, flavourful & good portions. The Mac & cheese was okay, the coleslaw was good just needed a bit more. The Beef Ribs was insanely large & delicious 🤤.
We had a small child with us & the menu doesn't have many options. The amount of food for the money was very little & the waitress didn't think to even bring us any paper towel even though we had a young child with us. You could at least add a filler like corn bread or fries. You could get that at the rib fest & more for the amount we paid.
I had the beef rib & pork ribs & the wife had the chicken & brisket. Sides were Mac n cheese, beans & coleslaw. Simply put, the BEST BBQ in Montreal! I’ve lived in FL & eaten BBQ across every state in the south including the famous Salt Lick BBQ in Austin,TX & I can assure you that this place is the real deal! 10/10

Outstanding casual dinner. We made a reservation online. They greeted our group of 8 obviously tourist & gave us the option to dine inside or outside. We sat inside. We sat at a table for 10. First beverages, we all had waters & a soft dink. The menu was simple & well explained. Service was nice & best of all the BBQ & sides were outstanding!
If you are looking for casual m & delicious. Give Lattuca a try!
Wonderful place for awesome meat. Everything is so tasty & just melts into your mouth 🤤
Plus the sides are great & actually change from the too often eaten French fries.
Lattuca owner is a really nice & humble guy.
Just book your table you don’t get to eat that good meat so often!
