We were supposed to go to another restaurant for our anniversary, but decided to pop in as this restaurant is closer to our place & the hostess was kind enough to accommodate our unexpected arrival. Right when you walk in, you notice the ambiance is spot on - never been to Rome specifically but everything felt right from decor to the menu. Mood was also amplified by the amazing Dean Martin classics they were playing.
Food was delicious, you can't come here expecting to be blown away with a culinary experience. Its a homey eatery that serves simple Roman classics, executed very well. The vitello saltimbocca was the highlight, reading some reviews saying its salty - not sure what they expected with a dish wrapped in prosciutto. The salt was nicely balanced with a squeeze of lemon & the buttery wine sauce they served it with, I cleaned the bone despite being full. Pasta was perfectly cooked & portions were generous. I thought the price of the pasta was high at first glance but the portion you get is certainly worth it.
We had the pleasure of being served by Liam who was attentive but for the most part let us enjoy our dinner (the way it should be). Someone, who I believe was the owner, came over to check in on us - its clear that these people care about their clients & the food they serve. I have very high standards overall, but with Montreal dining you get what you give, if you're an unreasonable & entitled person you will never truly enjoy a restaurant. The lower reviews I read seemed unjustified from my experience; disgruntled individuals who complain no matter what or come with lots of entitlement & very little understanding.
Thank you La Spada!Voir plus
Amazing ambience & ever better food! I loved everything at Spada. They have done an amazing job at delivering high quality food & great service.
We loved the Duck Ragu (super deep flavour) & Fritto Misto (fried seafood, I could drink the aioli it came with). Funghi Gnocchi & Brussel sprouts were highlights as well.
The service was very attentive (so attentive that a server offered to take my gum I spat into my wrapper; I did not let them). The bartenders made amazing drinks & servers always made sure things were clean & taken care of.
They managed to pull off an incredibly authentic Italian American ambiance without it seeming tacky or overdone. I felt like I was at a Nonnàs house or in the Sopranos in the best way possible. Bonus points for the large pepper mill & old phone.
I recommend this to anyone looking for Italian food in Montreal, perfect for a date or a group of friends or just a nice dinner out.
Prices were very fair for the quality even though on the higher end.Voir plus

I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time &, last night, I finally got the opportunity. It did not disappoint. Everything was on point from our greeting by our hostess to dessert.
Our server was very attentive & made a good wine recommendation. The dishes were delicious, plentiful & arrived at our table quickly.
The decor was casual chic & classic Italian songs played in the background.Voir plus
We ordered 3 appetizers (Cesar salad, suppli, meatballs) with carbonara & duck tagliatelle. Everything was just ok, this place did not add up to the social media hype. It was average at best.
Beautiful restaurant but the waitress wasn't attentive to what we were saying & kept cutting us. We will not go back.Voir plus
La Spada delivers an upscale Italian dining experience with exceptional attention to detail. The atmosphere is warm & elegant, enhanced by vintage chandeliers & tasteful decor. The open kitchen adds vibrancy to the space, & the cozy yet refined setup makes it perfect for special occasions. Despite being packed on New Year's Eve, the staff remained attentive, friendly, & highly professional. Service was fairly fast, & the evening flowed seamlessly. The dishes were beautifully presented & lived up to expectations. While the food was excellent, the price point is undeniably steep. With a $250 bill for two (without alcohol), a standard pasta starts at $40, & the lobster spaghetti was $70. The quality is there, but it might not justify the cost for everyone. La Spada excels in ambiance, service, & food quality. It's a fantastic choice for a luxurious night out, but be prepared for premium pricing. If you're looking to splurge on an unforgettable Italian meal, this is the place.Voir plus

La Spada is an absolute gem in Montreal! From the moment I walked in, the warm & inviting ambiance set the tone for a fantastic dining experience. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, & genuinely passionate about the menu, offering great recommendations tailored to my preferences. The food? Simply outstanding. Every dish was a perfect balance of flavor, presentation, & authenticity. The fresh, house-made pasta was the highlight-cooked to perfection with rich, flavorful sauces that transported me straight to Italy. Their wine selection was equally impressive, with options that paired beautifully with every course. What truly sets La Spada apart is the attention to detail. From the quality of the ingredients to the beautifully plated desserts, everything exudes care & excellence. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply indulging in a great meal, La Spada is the place to go. I can't wait to return & explore more of their menu. Highly recommend!Voir plus

I have been to Laspada twice now & the food has always been on point. My favourites so far are the generous fritto misto, the smokey rapini, the creamy tagliatelle con funghi & the airy foccacia. I also really recommend not skipping out on their original changing desserts. Overall, the food, the curated decor & the attentive staff make Laspada an "incontournable" establishment if you're in a mood for italian cuisine.Voir plus

Went to LA Spada on a Tuesday night & it had a really vibrant atmosphere. Staff was friendly... got to meet the owner. Started with the house made foccacia... & it was great. We ordered the Gnocchi with mushrooms. Very good... the Cacio & Pepe, & The chicken cutlet. All very good. I really liked the chicken because it wasn't your traditional basic chicken parm dish. There were a variety of flavors to it. Wait staff was friendly & attentive. If I had to really nitpick to find something to improve on... it would possibly be drink times...but even then when a resto is full its to be expected. All in all a great addition to the neighborhood, & I can't wait to go try more dishes soon!Voir plus
Just opened about 1-month ago but this place already feels like it's been here for years. The staff were super friendly, attentive, & well versed with the menu & wine selections. Our waitress was Absolutely fantastic. Her food recommendations were perfect & the wine pairing was spot on with our preferences. We will definitely be back. My only comment was that the music was a little too loud. One notch lower would have been perfect cause you want a good vibe musically but you don't want to shout all night across your table.Voir plus
Great vibe in the restaurant, the staff were attentive & courteous. Owner Scott was present & this is great for an owner to do ! Restaurant is very chic & has a great ambiance like being in a Roman restaurant. Antipasto Misto Fritta could use some more flavour as it lacked flavour & was soggy. Cacio Pepe was delicious!Voir plus
Coming La Spada is like taking a trip to Italy right in the heart of Montreal with having a beautiful restaurant where the ambiance matches the food that is being served. High-quality casual so that anybody who does come there has an amazing fun night with a journey of flavours. The restaurant itself is designed very well with the very casual type of nighttime dining where there is a bar there are multiple areas where you can see the kitchen from, overall the photos & painting all around the restaurant just give it a more cosy & vibe. With having that fine dining feel. & the iconic photo on the outside just gives it everything that you need to know that this is a simple but amazing Italian restaurant. Going to the food, the dishes that we were given were all high-quality, & made with the upmost care for the best combination of flavours. I would definitely recommend the bone broth tortellini, which is just Out Of This World & in flavours, the Caesar salad was made with care, & was so good. The veal wrapped in prosciutto was amazing as well. Overall, the food here is definitely worth the price that it is being served at & I definitely will come back again to try other items off their menu. My overall experience with the service, & the people who were there was amazing, the waiters & the maître d' were very attentive. My hats off to the host Liam, who gave us the best experience we could ask for & shout out to to one of the owners, Scott, who explained how the flavours were being combined to equal what I was tasting. Everything was top-notch to the point where I feel like this place deserves a Michelin star. I was done with one plate. The servers came & gave me a new one, water was always filled no matter when I looked at it. I definitely can't wait to see this place grow into an iconic location in Montreal.Voir plus
La Spada is a fantastic new addition to the dining scene. From the moment you walk in, the vibrant atmosphere & welcoming staff make you feel right at home. The owner Scott & waiters (especially Liam) are attentive & quick, ensuring a seamless dining experience. The food is simply exceptional. One of the highlights of my meal was the tortellini with bone broth. The rich, savory broth paired with the fresh bread on the side was an amazing combo that I can't stop thinking about. As someone who usually skips salads, I was surprised to find myself finishing the caesar salad, which was fresh & flavorful. The veal was the juiciest I've ever tasted - cooked to perfection. The pasta with mussels (forgot the French name) was also a standout, offering a perfect mix of quality ingredients & mouth watering flavours. La Spada is a must visit for anyone looking for an authentic & enjoyable Italian dining experience. I can't wait to return next time I'm in Montreal.Voir plus
