I unfortunately had a terrible experience at this restaurant. Never have I been treated so disgracefully. They told us to leave after 1:45 minutes because they had mismanaged their reservations for the evening. It was ok, we just wanted to finish our glass of wine. The waiter agreed. But somehow the hostess felt the need to come to our table again, two minutes later, to tell us to leave immediately. It made us all terribly uncomfortable & ruined the entire evening. This is simply not a way to treat patrons who just spent nearly 500$ in your establishment.
The service feels like home, this place is amazing & the food is always incredible. Scott the owner is also an amazing host & makes you feel like you are part of the family. 10/10 would recommend.
Great experience at La Spada! The food was great, the ambience was pleasant & the service was perfect! Would definitely recommend it
Possibly some of the best pasta & lamb chops I've ever had. The duck ragu was amazing & the lamb melts in your mouth. Also got the cacio e peppe brussel sprouts & they were quite good.
The service was a bit scattered as multiple people came to our table asking the same questions (do you want a to-go box, do you want a refill, etc.) without actually following up & the restaurant is quite loud, but the decor remains beautiful & the food is very worth it. Can't wait to come back & try out other things on the menu.
I really wanted to love it but…. How could I? The staff was not properly trained: the guy at the door was borderline arrogant, the girl serving us was nice but couldn't recommend nor explain the menu or suggest « the house bests ». The food was cold, the pasta was tasteless & so « al denté » that it felt uncooked & really overpriced. Like 32$ for what I would have given max 10-15$? The «boulettes de viande » were again tasteless & cold (& I usually crave them)…
I really love Italian food & I was looking forward to a new favorite spot… but it needs some improvements for me to come back again. Special mention to the decor that was nice & on trend.
'My recent experience here was incredibly disappointing. The food was not only cold but also bland. Nothing really stood out. The service was painfull! It would of been a good start knowing that we had a 2 hour timeline there before forcing us to leave. The manager Mike should get some'people' skills.
Spend your money elsewhere.
The food was so tasty & the pasta was very fresh! The service was also impeccable, one of the best Italian meals I had in my life. 10/10, such a great addition for Saint-Henri food scene. We will definitely be back!
Best service we've had in a while!! Many restaurants in Montreal lack good service not realizing how important it is for people to come back. This said, I will most definitely be coming back to La Spada. Food was beyond our expectations, we had the special porchetta & it was amazing. Pasta was 10/10, & the octopus was super tender.
On top of all this, the restaurant was busy & there was a great vibe. Totally recommend this spot!
As someone who was born & lived in Italy, I can confirm that La Spada is an authentic & exquisite Italian restaurant. From the menu, the condiment, the music (Italian classics), I feel home, but in the style & feel of a classic & trendy Montreal restaurant. The branzino I had last night was one of my top fish experience in a long time, absolute perfection.
Amazing ambience & ever better food! I loved everything at Spada. They have done an amazing job at delivering high quality food & great service.
We loved the Duck Ragu (super deep flavour) & Fritto Misto (fried seafood, I could drink the aioli it came with). Funghi Gnocchi & Brussel sprouts were highlights as well.
The service was very attentive (so attentive that a server offered to take my gum I spat into my wrapper; I did not let them). The bartenders made amazing drinks & servers always made sure things were clean & taken care of.
They managed to pull off an incredibly authentic Italian American ambiance without it seeming tacky or overdone. I felt like I was at a Nonnàs house or in the Sopranos in the best way possible. Bonus points for the large pepper mill & old phone.
I recommend this to anyone looking for Italian food in Montreal, perfect for a date or a group of friends or just a nice dinner out.
Prices were very fair for the quality even though on the higher end.
This is my favorite restaurant in montreal. The vibes, the food!!! The drinks. It's SCRUMPTIOUS! Highly recommend! 10/10
My friend & I were there last night. We sat at the bar. The service was beyond our expectations. Hamza made for us delicious drinks & gave us great service. Thank you!
Always an amazing experience. The staff & owners are super attentive & helpful. The vibe & food make it a rememberable experience. The ossobuco is to die for!
