It was definitely worth the wait. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable & the atmosphere had a very friendly, welcoming vibe. Our appetizers & main dishes were perfection. There are many interesting items on the menu that I would still like to try. I can't wait to go back. 10/10
Our staff has had multiple dinners at this fine establishment. This restaurant is constantly reviewing & perfecting their dishes. They have excellent cocktails as well. Highly recommend

La Spada is an absolute gem.
We had the most incredible experience from start to finish, thanks especially to Chanelle - truly one of the best bartenders & servers we've ever had. Her energy, attention, & creativity made the night unforgettable. The drinks she crafted were mind?blowing.
& the food… wow. The homemade pappardelle was on another level - rich, fresh, & easily one of the best pasta dishes I've had anywhere. Every bite felt like a little trip to Italy.
If you're looking for amazing Italian food, exceptional service, & a warm, welcoming atmosphere, La Spada is a must. We can't wait to go back.
We were there last night for my husband's birthday celebration. The restaurant has cosy atmosphere & great service. We ordered the calamari mix fried appetizer dish; it was very salty, seafood pieces had too much batter & they were overcooked, calamari wasn't tender & the dish was overpriced. I ordered the duckragú pappardelle, it was delicious but very salty. My husband ordered the day's special square spaghetti with beef but it was very very salty. We switched the plates halfway so we both could have less salty & better dish. I still could rate 4 stars, but unfortunately they even forgot to put a little candle on my husband's dessert although I kindly asked them in a message on opentable a couple of hours earlier & they replied me as'no problem'. When his dessert arrived on table with no candle, I was disappointed. Anyway we had a great night. I wish the dishes weren't so salty:(
Update to my previous review
Shortly after posting my initial feedback, Scott, the owner, reached out directly. He was genuinely concerned about the experience we had. It is rare to see that level of care. He invited us back for a meal so we could experience La Spada as it was intended.
We returned on November 13, & this visit was a completely different story.
The service was exceptional. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, & took the time to walk us through the specials & the origins of the dishes.
We ordered the Foccacia, Polpette, Casarecce alla Funghi, & the Agnolotti di Zucca e Ricotta.
The meal was outstanding. La Spada truly is the hidden gem people talk about.
The Funghi pasta was one of the best I have ever had. The balance between the sauce & the pasta was perfect. You could taste the depth of the mushrooms in every bite. Many restaurants serve Funghi pasta, but often the flavor disappears into the cream or the seasoning. Here, the mushroom remains the hero of the dish from start to finish.
The Agnolotti was another standout. Creamy, rich, & perfectly al dente. The subtle crunch of hazelnut added a layer of texture & flavor that tied the dish together beautifully.
The Polpette was the star of the night. Juicy, tender, & served in a generous amount of sauce. Simple ingredients, elevated execution. It was incredible.
The Foccacia was very good, although overshadowed slightly by how exceptional the other dishes were.
Thank you to Scott for inviting us back & showing us what La Spada represents. An elevated Italian culinary experience tucked away in Saint Henri.
We will definitely be returning to try more of the pasta lineup.
Visited on Wednesday, October 29. I had high expectations after hearing incredible things & seeing glowing reviews online.
The evening started strong. The hostess was warm & welcoming, & we were seated quickly. The space itself is breathtaking. Elegant, sophisticated, & thoughtfully designed, La Spada feels like a hidden gem the moment you walk in.
Unfortunately, the service & food did not live up to the setting.
We ordered the Pappardelle Ragù d'Anatra, Carbonara Special, & the Arancini Specials. Our friends chose the Caesar Salad & Radiatori alla Vodka.
The servers were kind, but the execution needs refinement. One of our appetizers was missed, & when it finally arrived, the plate was dropped onto the table, splattering cheese onto my pants. They apologized & cleaned up quickly, but the experience set the tone for the rest of the meal.
When our mains arrived, the same server accidentally dropped half a block of grated Parmesan into my pasta. Thankfully, I like cheese, but it added to an already shaky service experience.
As for the food:
The Carbonara Special was nearly inedible, overwhelmingly salty to the point where even water would not have helped balance it.
The Arancini were excellent, crisp, flavorful, & well-seasoned.
The Pappardelle Ragù d'Anatra was also very good. Tender duck & rich flavor brought that dish together beautifully.
The Radiatori alla Vodka & Caesar Salad were fine, but unremarkable.
Overall, La Spada delivers a gorgeous ambiance but fails where it truly counts, which is consistency, flavor, & service. At this price point, expectations are naturally higher, & unfortunately, the experience did not meet them.
It is a shame, because the space & potential are there. But after this visit, I highly recommend everyone to avoid. You can easily find better Italian food with better service elsewhere.
Visited La Spada for the first time this weekend & it did not disappoint!
I was in a group of 7 people celebrating my birthday & our server Zoe was phenomenal. She really went above & beyond. Service can really make or break an experience & she made our night that much better 💗
Also the food was insane. So rare to taste so many dishes & love every single one.
So thanks for making my birthday a great one!!

I was there for supper & I want to start by saying our waiter Alec was amazing. Even though the waiter was also busy with other tables we didn't wait long, he was always make sure everything was good with us. Smiling & made sure he explained the dishes to us . Again waiter Alec was fantastic. As so the good OMG tasteful , delicious ! Papardelle Ragù d'Anatra, Abbacchio, was amazing. Bistecca Fiorentina Very tender .if you like pesto I suggest Bucatini Pesto was amazing. As for the entree the meatballs , the calamari, Mozzarella Caprese…. Everything we ate was delicious. I would like to say thank you to Alec the waiter snd to the cooks & the whole staff & cheers to the owner . Thank you
Great decor, exceptionally kind service great music. & the food! Do yourself a favour & go with multiple people so you can share & try a bunch of different dishes.
This restaurant is nicely decorated & has a great atmosphere, although they could think of better music to play. The food unfortunately is overpriced for what it is. We enjoyed the branzino & the Brussels sprouts. The pasta was alright, but the portion was way too large for a primo. The tiramisu was really quite sad…
They seem to have issues with pacing of the food. When we had just received our appetizer, all our other courses were thrown at the table. Besides that these dishes didn't all fit on the small table at the same time & made it uncomfortable to eat, it's honestly just a big no go to serve mains at the same time as the primi…we felt rushed & most of the food was cold by the time we got to it.
We really wanted to love this restaurant but were disappointed in the overall experience provided.
From the moment we walked in, we loved this place. The atmosphere feels very warm & welcoming.
We had the pleasure of being served by Luca, the manager of the restaurant. He is very knowledgeable about the various dishes they serve & he guided us on what to order based on our wine choice. The food was incredible, everything we ate was flavourful & well portioned. Highly recommend.
One of my new favorite Italian restaurants. We've been back 2 times & loved it both times. They're menu changes here & there but the squid dishes are always fire. The Caesar salad is amazing too!
Overall a mid experience. The food started strong with our smaller plates, but the pasta dishes were disappointing. Overall, what stuck with us is how rushed the service felt, which took away from the entire experience. There is far better in MTL for the price point.
Pasta dishes are delicious & their focaccia bread is very good, one of the best I've tasted in the city. Tiramisu could've been better in terms of richness & creaminess.
I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time &, last night, I finally got the opportunity. It did not disappoint. Everything was on point from our greeting by our hostess to dessert.
Our server was very attentive & made a good wine recommendation. The dishes were delicious, plentiful & arrived at our table quickly.
The decor was casual chic & classic Italian songs played in the background.
Great atmosphere, decent service, mediocre food. The appetizers where okay, the branzino was nice, the lamb was wonderful but the pasta was terrible. Out of 4 pasta dishes tried, 1 was okay. The tortellini was the worst. Tuna tartare was not good, the tagliatelle was really really not good, dry papery shredded pork. Oh & the desserts, you could of knocked out someone with the cheesecake it was so dense & hard, & a grainy tiramisu followed…. Maybe they should outsource their desserts if no one knows how to make them in the kitchen…. Service was okay, but we had to serve ourselves wine a few times, asked for water a few times, at some point they were bringing food but half the table had no plates & no one had utensils….at the end of the night the waiter pushed back on us buying another bottle of wine because he said there was only a half hour left before closure, I've never ever known of a restaurant not wanting to make a wine sale (to be noted it was a sat night, the resto was still half full, & we were 8ppl so that's a glass each)! Overall it was okay but I won't be going back.
What an incredible experience with my father last night at Spada from start to finish! Immaculate atmosphere topped with fantastic service. Scott was a wonderful host, Lio & Hamza took amazing care of us! The kitchen creates magic as all the dishes we had were severely addictive & delicious. The focaccia is to die for, & the pasta dishes we had were perfectly executed. Big shout out to Chef D as well! Merci bcp & see you soon ! ❤️
La Spada delivers an upscale Italian dining experience with exceptional attention to detail. The atmosphere is warm & elegant, enhanced by vintage chandeliers & tasteful decor. The open kitchen adds vibrancy to the space, & the cozy yet refined setup makes it perfect for special occasions. Despite being packed on New Year's Eve, the staff remained attentive, friendly, & highly professional. Service was fairly fast, & the evening flowed seamlessly. The dishes were beautifully presented & lived up to expectations. While the food was excellent, the price point is undeniably steep. With a $250 bill for two (without alcohol), a standard pasta starts at $40, & the lobster spaghetti was $70. The quality is there, but it might not justify the cost for everyone. La Spada excels in ambiance, service, & food quality. It's a fantastic choice for a luxurious night out, but be prepared for premium pricing. If you're looking to splurge on an unforgettable Italian meal, this is the place.
La Spada offers fantastic Italian food in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The Gnocchi & seafood dishes were exceptional, & the service was friendly & attentive. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic Italian experience!
Absolutely amazing. Had the pleasure of dining here on a work trip. Everything was delicious, ingredients are clearly super fresh, dishes are prepared with care.
Nice atmosphere & good dishes... I wouldn't say is the best pasta or Italian food I have tasted in Montréal... but is a very good place to come back for sure.
