The restaurant is beautiful, the staff are excellent & the food is divine. We reserved a table for their collaboration event this past weekend. 80$ 6-course table d'hote. It was near perfect. I could describe the dishes, but most, if not all won't exist when you get there. Just go. You will not be disappointed.
amazing food (we loved the crudo, beef tartare, shrimp cocktail, focaccia, & brussel sprouts) & great service! only disappointment is that the vongole is listed on the menu as linguine but we were served bucatini (I hate bucatini) & it was barely warm when it got to our table... I would definitely come back & try other pasta dishes though!
TLDR - don't leave your umbrella unattended but great food, generous portions & not so great hostess. We booked reservations for this restaurant a month in advance & were really looking forward to eating delicious food. For entrees, we got the suppli, focaccia, tortellini brodo & fried calamari. The tomato sauce tasted amazing. Portions were very generous too. For the main dishes, we had the beef ragu & ravioli. These dishes were all easy to share between a party of four. We finished the dinner with a strawberry shortcake which was light & sweet. We did have to remind our waiter about the dessert a couple times though. What soured the overall experience at the end was the interactions we had between the waiter & hostess - one of the waiters had offered to put my umbrella at the front entrance on a coat hanger. As we were leaving, I couldn't find my umbrella anywhere. We asked the hostess about it & she looked at us dumbfounded & asked our waiter where the umbrella was. They had a small back & forth & proceeded to ignore us. The hostess continued sitting people down & answering the phone while we stood at the front entrance for over ten minutes, waiting for an answer. We ended up asking help from another server & the hostess came back to us saying "what do you want me to do? just send us the bill". There was no apology or compensation offered whatsoever. We found the hostess to be very rude to us & left disappointed with how our night ended.
This place just made my week. The level of attention to detail from the exceptional service to the fall down amazing food. Waiter selected a wine for us that we loved just off a few keywords. Huge portions of fresh authentic italien dishes. Went with a group & we didn't want to leave. Decor & vibe are on point. I hope to be back frequently ! Book now & wait a bit cause they're busy & rightly so.
Went to LA Spada on a Tuesday night & it had a really vibrant atmosphere. Staff was friendly... got to meet the owner. Started with the house made foccacia... & it was great. We ordered the Gnocchi with mushrooms. Very good... the Cacio & Pepe, & The chicken cutlet. All very good. I really liked the chicken because it wasn't your traditional basic chicken parm dish. There were a variety of flavors to it. Wait staff was friendly & attentive. If I had to really nitpick to find something to improve on... it would possibly be drink times...but even then when a resto is full its to be expected. All in all a great addition to the neighborhood, & I can't wait to go try more dishes soon!
Very pretty place & very happening for a Tuesday evening. Service was great. Drinks were excellent. I loved the pepperoncini (a spicy twist on a good martini). We had the eggplant parmigiana which was my favorite dish , the caccio e pepe & the ravioli francese. Everything was very tasty I just didn't find the pasta dishes were hot enough. Overall good experience.

Coming La Spada is like taking a trip to Italy right in the heart of Montreal with having a beautiful restaurant where the ambiance matches the food that is being served. High-quality casual so that anybody who does come there has an amazing fun night with a journey of flavours. The restaurant itself is designed very well with the very casual type of nighttime dining where there is a bar there are multiple areas where you can see the kitchen from, overall the photos & painting all around the restaurant just give it a more cosy & vibe. With having that fine dining feel. & the iconic photo on the outside just gives it everything that you need to know that this is a simple but amazing Italian restaurant. Going to the food, the dishes that we were given were all high-quality, & made with the upmost care for the best combination of flavours. I would definitely recommend the bone broth tortellini, which is just Out Of This World & in flavours, the Caesar salad was made with care, & was so good. The veal wrapped in prosciutto was amazing as well. Overall, the food here is definitely worth the price that it is being served at & I definitely will come back again to try other items off their menu. My overall experience with the service, & the people who were there was amazing, the waiters & the maître d' were very attentive. My hats off to the host Liam, who gave us the best experience we could ask for & shout out to to one of the owners, Scott, who explained how the flavours were being combined to equal what I was tasting. Everything was top-notch to the point where I feel like this place deserves a Michelin star. I was done with one plate. The servers came & gave me a new one, water was always filled no matter when I looked at it. I definitely can't wait to see this place grow into an iconic location in Montreal.
