Afficher toutsoup(29) mei(21) ice cream(19) ingredient(19) broth(15) selection(12) fresh(11) options(9) helpful(9) drink(8) seafood(6) bowl(6)The waitresses weren't very friendly & took a long time to serve us: a friend of mine asked for a fork instead of chopsticks, & the soup went from hot to lukewarm. They should offer a wider selection of noodles. The broth is excellent, & the ingredients (especially the seafood) are very fresh.
A great twist on a familiar concept. Call it hot pot, or soup noodle, it is a fun new spot & deserves to be highly rated. The establishment is clean, many choices for your personal bowl, great drinks & nice touch with the ice cream. Service is really fantastic & friendly. Expect to pay a small premium but, given you get exactly what you want, it is worth it.
Montréal has always been weaker in comparison to Toronto & Vancouver when it comes to good Asian food. I'm very glad that is slowly changing with many new fantastic establishments opening up, & one of the front runner in bringing this change is La Soupiere Malataang.
This is a truly incredible place. The raw meat selection is fantastic & very fresh. The vegetable options are decent but nothing to write home oabout. The meat selection is on the other hand is good. The broth options are fantastic too & they are incredibly rich & full bodied.
As a torontonian native & having tried Malataang in Toronto, I am happy that Montreal probably has one of the best Malataang restaurant between the both cities.
The drinks are great. The milk tea is an underrated cheat code in the city. For 3.99 it beats out many other milk tea spots in its vicinity.
The servers are incredible, extremely professional & will go out of their way to accommodate you fully. They are always checking in on you & serving you with a smile.
I really hope they can keep their early momentum going for a very long time.
We need more of these restaurants in Montreal
This was my first time coming here, & the staff were friendly.
However, I was disappointed with the soup. I tried both the mala & the tom yum, & neither of them tasted good. The malatang was bland & lacked the spicy, numbing flavor I was craving (I was really looking forward to it, which is why I decided to come). The tom yum was overly sour. I tried my best to finish the solid ingredients but left the soup. Overall, I'm very disappointed.
Similar to Chinese hotpot, the service is buffet-style with a selection of different soup bases. As someone who typically has a smaller appetite, I appreciated the pricing by weight (approx $4.49/100g). The soup choice is included in the price. The ingredients are quite varied, even for a vegetarian like myself. In fact, for a $35 pot, the serving was already more than plenty. The soup flavour for the #9 Singaporean was creamy & mild spicy. I really enjoyed the experience but I would say the soups are a bit too salty. I'd ask in future to see if this is something that can be modified. The staff were very welcoming & friendly, explaining well the system for a first-time customer. I would return, but with an emptier stomach.
My friends recommended me La soupière so I had high expectations. I went on April 6th on Easter Monday, took the Laksa soup base & it was just way too salty. Usually laksa soup should taste a bit sweet with coconot flavours but the soup base I got yesterday just tasted salty… I was super disappointed & will not go back again. Maybe the quality was less good as usual on a holiday but… again it shouldn't. I do not recommend.
There's a small waiting time but you can leave your name & your phone number & the restaurant will send you a message when the table is free. Do take in consideration that you might have to wait close to 30 mins for a table though. The restaurant is pretty small & it's pretty cramped inside. Going in between the tables is quite difficult so it made it a bit less enjoyable. The service was pretty friendly & patient, taking the time to explain to us how it works. The food was tasty as well. I really enjoyable the flavours of the soup, the light spiciness complements the rest of the flavour & the best part is that you can customise all of it. The meal can be different every time you go because you get to pick all the ingredients inside & that makes it so fun. It' only 4.99$ a pound but it does go up quickly so be mindful of that. In the end, it was about 20$ a bowl which is still acceptable for the portion. Especially if you are picking all your favourites.
Soup tastes great & a lot of options, premium ingredients that i dont see often. Signature drink tasted good. Overall slightly more expensive than other similar places.
(If this is your first malatang, I would recommend stopping filling your bowl at around 80% of what you think you should have in your bowl.) Otherwise, the price might go up faster than you expect.
Typical Chinese malatang place. Very similar to big way hotpot but more expensive. They have all sorts of ingredients/selections you can choose from & some very interesting seafood selections.
It's by weight ($4.49/100g) so some cheaper items may cost more than you think. Theres many soup base options to choose from including my personal favourite, the tomato soup base. They also have a sauce bar which includes all your hotpot sauce necessities.
At the end you get a free ice cream but I couldn't finish mine because I was stuffed from the actual meal. Service was good. Would come again but I find myself spending too much at these places, which is a me problem.
Their soup tastes so good. Definitely would come more often. The staff Mei is really nice & sweet. She responded so fast with cleaning my friend's accidentally spilled drink.
The food was very good! It's $4.99/100gr
You choose first & then you go to have your plate weighed & you choose your soup flavour.
I paid for mine $23 & my bf 31$
We didn't finish so took home the leftovers & we had dinner the next day.
The only'negative' thing is the waiting time, it's always around 30 minutes minimum. But it is worth it.
We are coming back because I do want to ey the bone broth!!
PS they give you ice cream for free once you're done. I really liked it!
On our first visit to La Soupiere, Julia made the entire experience exceptional. She was incredibly warm, attentive, & welcoming from the moment we arrived. Her service was thoughtful & professional, always checking in at the perfect moments & making sure everything was just right. It's rare to come across someone who makes a meal feel so comfortable & enjoyable, Julia truly elevated our visit. We'll definitely be back, & a big part of that is thanks to her wonderful service!
Staff was very friendly & the soup was good & there was a lot of choice but the seating felt tight & the tables were very close togethe
So much better than Soup Zen. Tried both, preferred here. Juline was so sweet. I'll be back.
Great variety of fresh ingredients as well as soup base options.
You also get complimentary soft serve afterwards. Great atmosphere & service.
I do find it a little pricey but definitely my fav malatang place right now.
First time going to a malatang restaurant. The waitress was really nice & explained to us how it works. So many types of meat, seafood, vegetables & noodles to choose from. Everything looked good so I had to pick a lot of things so my soup was a bit big (670g) but i ate it all! It's 4.49$ per 100g for everything.
We also tried Soupière branded tea, which looked & tasted really good. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture.
The only issue was that the place was cold, & I could feel drafts coming through the windows. While I don't usually get cold, it was quite chilly. Please fix this?
The ingredients are really fresh, interior super clean & amazing service. Viviane was so generous with the ice cream & helpful in helping us choose our soup base! Overall amazing experience, i'll bring my friends back!
The food is so good!! I've been looking for a restaurant with a good tom yum soup base & finally found one! They have a great selection of ingredients & really good service. The waitress Viviane was super sweet & got us extra ice cream!!! Will definitely come back !
Passed by last week with my friends & I have to say, one of the best malatang place in town! Their service is incredible, our waitress Viviane was super lovely & helpful, their seafood selection is super fresh! & there's many soup options! Will definitely be back!
