Really nice experience at La Soupiere Malatang & definitely a place worth trying if you like to do your own meal.

The concept is simple: you grab a bowl, pick whatever ingredients you want, & they cook everything for you afterward. There's honestly a huge selection & everything looked fresh. Lots of choices for meats, fish, vegetables, tofu, noodles, etc. You can also make your own sauce on the side, which is a nice touch.

One thing though: it's very easy to spend way more than expected without realizing it 😅. My honest recommendation is to avoid loading the bowl with heavy items like noodles if you want better value. The fish, meat, & other ingredients are definitely more worth it in my opinion.

For us, the wait was around 20 minutes, which was perfectly fine. If you're with friends or good company, the time goes by quickly anyway.

The place itself was clean, including the bathrooms, which are locked & require a key from the staff.

Overall, good food, fresh ingredients, fun concept, & a nice atmosphere. I'd definitely go back.

Impressed by the wide selection for malatang. I chose the tomato broth, which was rich & comforting, & the sauce bar offered more than enough ingredients to craft a delicious, personalized sauce.

Typical Chinese malatang place. Very similar to big way hotpot but more expensive. They have all sorts of ingredients/selections you can choose from & some very interesting seafood selections.
It's by weight ($4.49/100g) so some cheaper items may cost more than you think. Theres many soup base options to choose from including my personal favourite, the tomato soup base. They also have a sauce bar which includes all your hotpot sauce necessities.
At the end you get a free ice cream but I couldn't finish mine because I was stuffed from the actual meal. Service was good. Would come again but I find myself spending too much at these places, which is a me problem.

Everything was great except for the price. I paid +$40 which is super expensive for a dish that you have 1/ serve yourself 2/ queue to pay at the cashier. The quantity is good though it's a big sauce pan, so you leave there full but still very expensive. I read other customers reviews & apparently ice cream is free which the cashier didn't explained/offered. I wish I was told that, especially after a non mandatory tip & a total amount close to $50!!

Edit: If you say so I believe it, I wish it was clearer about the weight. I removed my comment on this weight thing. Still doesn't change the fact I was not offered an ice cream, but ok I will visit again. Thanks for the explanation, that gave you one extra star.

They charge you the weight of the bowl just to have it on mind; so you'll pay at least 15 dls only for the empty bowl. That's the only bad thing, for the rest, the place & food are very good.. even the beverages.
They have a bar of sauces & garnishes, I liked it. & at the end you can ask for a little ice-cream 🙂

Went there with friends. Honestly a bit underwhelming… I took the dry base & it was basically the ingredients I chose boiled with sesame sauce & chili oil thrown on… Not worth the 30+ I paid for. They give free ice cream at the end which is nice.

Good food, but rude host & unhygienic.
I wish I get a pair of chopsticks when I am waiting for food to mix the sauce

The price is calculated by weight so it comes to 4,49$ / 100g for ingredients of your choice. The sauce bar, the broth & the ice cream are included in the total price. Would really recommend !

Amazing services with good vibe & good food. I ordered the signature soup base for soup & white peach soda for drink. They all came out tasty & fantastic. The soup base has just the right amount of spice, not too spicy & goes well with the foods without having to use the dipping sauce. The drink has interesting popping boba that burst in my mouth with fun filling. Free yummy ice cream. Service is smooth, very attentive & helpful. My first time trying the malatang & it won't be the last time. Thank you so much for the service & the food!
Sincerely
Tracy
