This was an incredibly nice experience & I cannot express how happy I was to find this place.
It's not a far walk from the Guy-Concordia metro & the entire dining experience is very straight forward. I love their little promotions & the fact that they have an ice cream machine! After you're done your meal, you can ask the servers for a cup of ice cream which is honestly the cherry on top.
The atmosphere is very relaxed, the food is clean & super fresh, the staff is welcoming & the place is very clean. I'm unfortunately used to Malatang places being dirty & food usually swarming with flies or just looking like it's about to go bad. La Soupière actually cares about the quality & freshness of their products. Please don't change!
Food is priced acceptably & if you're Asian & tolerant to spice, definitely ask (if possible) for a spicier malatang lol.

Amazing food, so fresh everytime & amazing service too! It's my comfort go to place & I've already tried 3 of their soup base. I'm obsessed with the laksa one! I like how you can make your own sauce & especially the free ice cream after the hot meal 😝 The price is really reasonable, it depends on how much you add :3

5 out of 5. It's the best Malatang place in town-authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, & tons of options. I've been going there all the time since it opened.
Honestly one of the best authentic self serve hot pot restaurants in Montreal. They have fresh ingredients, diverse soup options to choose from, & the whole vibe in the store is amazing!
?I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience here. They offer an exceptional variety of fresh ingredients for curation, ranging from pork, beef, fish, crab, & chicken to fresh vegetables, noodles, & octopus. Once you select your ingredients, they are expertly prepared & served in your choice of customized broth (you pay based on the ingredients weight, almost 5$ per 100g).
?A helpful tip for first-timers: the soup retains heat incredibly well & takes a long time to cool down. If you want to enjoy your meal right away without the wait, opting for the dry sauce style is an excellent alternative. My only minor critique regards the octopus; because all ingredients are cooked together for the same duration, it came out a bit undercooked & chewy for my taste. However, everything else was absolutely outstanding & well.
?The ambiance is cozy, welcoming, & comfortable, complemented by a genuinely kind & attentive staff. They offer complimentary ice cream at the end of the meal, a delicious, refreshing palate cleanser that is absolutely perfect after a hot & spicy bowl.
One of the best new spots in Montréal - fresh ingredients, bold broths, & a fun build-your-own concept that never disappoints. Friendly staff, great milk tea, & free ice cream at the end make it an easy recommendation!
Really nice experience at La Soupiere Malatang & definitely a place worth trying if you like to do your own meal.
The concept is simple: you grab a bowl, pick whatever ingredients you want, & they cook everything for you afterward. There's honestly a huge selection & everything looked fresh. Lots of choices for meats, fish, vegetables, tofu, noodles, etc. You can also make your own sauce on the side, which is a nice touch.
One thing though: it's very easy to spend way more than expected without realizing it 😅. My honest recommendation is to avoid loading the bowl with heavy items like noodles if you want better value. The fish, meat, & other ingredients are definitely more worth it in my opinion.
For us, the wait was around 20 minutes, which was perfectly fine. If you're with friends or good company, the time goes by quickly anyway.
The place itself was clean, including the bathrooms, which are locked & require a key from the staff.
Overall, good food, fresh ingredients, fun concept, & a nice atmosphere. I'd definitely go back.
