Open since 1985, our restaurant offers a Swiss and European cuisine which is very comforting, including our traditional raclette dish. Founded in the Swiss Alps, this typical dish is offered here with the same authenticity as where it came from. La raclette, which is also the name of the cheese used for this dish comes from the action of scraping the cheese melted by a heat source to your plate. So you can enjoy this dish already prepared for you in your plate or using our oven that allows you to heat and scrape the cheese at your table. Also, in the purest tradition, this dish is served with cold meats (ham and beef) which comes from the region of Grisons in Switzerland, our pickles and pickled onions and potatoes. The quality of ingredients and simplicity are all the charm of this traditional raclette.
Moreover, apart from our traditional raclette dish, we offer a variety of other delicious dishes that stem from a long tradition of Swiss and European cuisine, such as our fondue cheese, thinly sliced veal Zurich and other delights to discover...
Reviews describe La Raclette as a cozy, inviting spot with a warm atmosphere, generous portions of cheese and potatoes, and a range of raclette and fondue options that pair well with charcuterie, while some guests feel the prices are high for simpler meats and the BYOW approach is seen as a plus by wine lovers or a drawback for those expecting inclusive drinks; service is widely praised for friendliness and attentiveness, the cheese is noted as high quality, and many guests appreciate the BYOW option and the convivial, shareable experience that makes it good for dates or gatherings, with several noting they would return.
had an AMAZING time at la Raclette. Had melted Raclette cheese to start & then fondue as our main. amazing & authentic. Would presume that we went through about 5 baguettes & the wait staff was definitely good about topping it up. Brought our own wine so we had a lot which is always great on a Saturday evening when you're tryna get toasted. The chocolate bomb was iconic. The wait staff were the sweetest most out of this world amazing people. I wish I could go back every day but I don't live in MTL. My bestfriend who DOES live in MTL should (& might) go back every day. I will 10000% be back next time I'm in MTL
Vegan meat was awful, the cheese was good though. Should just serve with vegetables next time.
Bread, cheese (fondue) & salad was good, but the rest was disappointing.
Not impressed. Very average.

Our group told them ahead of time that we were all vegan. They gave us awesome huge plates of vegan cheese & vegan meat. Best vegan Raclette in Montreal!
I was disappointed, we ordered the European cheese fondue & got raclette. Instead of paying 36$ per person we ended up with a bill of 48$ per person. Waiter kept getting our order wrong. & we had to pay for it. All in all, food ok, nothing worth that much money for a meal.
The food was delicious. The service was just okay. I ordered a small raclette as a start to my dinner, but it did not come with any accompaniments. This was confusing. Just a plate of cheese & 2 potatoes halved. I eyed everyone in the place, & everyone had pickles except us.

Tucked away on a residential street is a most charming & wonderful restaurant! We made a last minute reservation to La Raclette to finally try raclette & after our experience here, were so happy we did. We were warmly greeted by our host, & seated by a window, which we had requested. Our waiter was extremely welcoming & explained how the menu worked. After receiving some delicious French bread & a jar of small cornichon pickles, we ordered the raclette for two, & a kid's fondue meal for our child, who was very excited to have gazpacho with it as well.
The German Beer soup I got as an appetizer was delicious & a heartier version of French Onion soup.
My husband had the scallop app, which was a thinly sliced raw carpaccio, very fresh & mild tasting.
For the main course, we were presented with a burner box & small square tray for melting the cheese. On top of the box were two small square dishes containing quartered boiled potatoes in one dish & sautéed mushrooms, red peppers & asparagus pieces, as well as a large plate of the cheese slices, thinly sliced ham, salami, dried prosciutto & a serving of a lovely green salad with thinly sliced beets on it.
My son received a smaller version of their fondue & it was perfect for him (as well as us to sample). He too received a dish with salad, some ham & veggies to dip & a basket of bread pieces as well.
We had so much fun melting our cheese & figuring out different combinations to eat our melted cheese with, & both meals were outstanding. Since we brought our own wine as well, it was even more enjoyable. The service was also excellent & attentive, with our water cups being refilled quickly (such rich food makes one thirsty, after all!).
Finally for dessert I ordered the Chocolate Dome which was presented with flair & melted for us by our waiter with warm butterscotch. Inside the dome was ice cream, small cubes of pound cake & fresh berries on the perimeter. It was like a chocolate fondue without the pot!
This had to be the best dining experience we have had in Montreal so far & beyond the excellent food, we had such a wonderful experience visiting this outstanding place! If you are deciding whether or not to visit, seriously, go now, you won't be disappointed!
We have been to La Raclette many times & it is one of my family's favourite restaurants in the city. The restaurant's is named after the shareable Swiss dish of melted raclette cheese served with various meats (e.g. viande séchée), potatoes & other vegetables, & pickles (cornichons). However, the restaurant is so much more than the raclette -- we always order their other various menu items that change seasonally. This weekend we also had the beef tartare & shrimp cocktail to start, as well as the pork Schnitzel & New Brunswick black cod as mains, all excellent as per usual. We had the chocolate cake & hot chocolate dome for dessert, which were amazing & is no surprise since the very talented chef is also a trained patisserie. The outdoor terrace is also a very romantic in the summer. In September, we booked the restaurant for a private party to celebrate our marriage as the restaurant can be booked for private parties of about 60-80 people. The event went amazingly well, we were extremely pleased with how the event was planned & executed by both the management team & the chef, who also created our amazing tiered wedding cake. So many of our guests complimented the food & we were happy to share our favourite restaurant. La Raclette might not come up as a trendy Montreal restaurant, but as avid restaurant patrons to many various restaurants in the city we consider this spot a not-so-known secret spot. There is a reason the restaurant has endured years of operations, & we are happy to share this place with others. La Raclette is highly recommended.
