Since 1999, the restaurant LA PRUNELLE is a bring your wine that imposes itself on the popular Duluth in the heart of Plateau Mont-Royal. The chef conveys her passion in each of her dishes, working with products of Quebec dotted with Mediterranean accents. Respecting both the producers of the province and seasonal changes, the menu leads us into an adventure filled with happy detours. One feels immediately at home in this lively and friendly restaurant, overseen by Annie the co-owner and her team. The place is a beautiful and charming space, with large windows that open completely in the summer. One thing is certain, LA PRUNELLE is a very good value for money and is surely one of the finest dining experiences on the Plateau Mont-Royal.
Reviews describe La Prunelle as a warm, intimate French spot in the Plateau with excellent service and consistently delicious dishes. The menu features tartare de boeuf, magret de canard, ris de veau, octopus, and creme brulee, with many noting refined technique, appealing presentation and thoughtful flavor combinations. The atmosphere is cozy and charming, with soft lighting, a lively street view and a pleasant terrace in summer. Bring your own wine is a popular feature, offering good value for both date nights and small gatherings. Some critics note occasional drawbacks such as fries or certain dishes being too salty, or service slowing a bit when the restaurant is busy, and the space can get loud. Service is repeatedly praised as impeccable, attentive, and professional, with staff making guests feel cared for. Repeat visits are common, with guests praising consistency, warmth and quality ingredients. Overall, La Prunelle is seen as a standout neighborhood gem for classic, well executed French cuisine in Montreal, delivering memorable evenings and a welcoming atmosphere.
We're not certain if there has been a change in management, but the service & food quality was poor this time around. The service was very fast, the food just practically dropped on our table & off went the server. The hostess that greeted us was not friendly at all, almost bothered by the people in general. The food was not up to par. The duck was very simple, served with two pieces of cornbread which was burnt underneath. We have dined at La Prunelle on several occasions in the past & always had an amazing experience. This time was a bit disappointing.
WoW!

great bistro in the Plateau- Bring your own wine- $1 oysters on Mondays are a fab deal on a summer night... meats are treated exceptionally well- very tender, lovely sauces... service is spotty when it's busy, so don't go there if you're in a rush...

unpretentious Bring Your Own Wine in the Plateau - charming waitstaff, but service can be erratic & slow on busy nights... for starters, i'd go with oysters & the trout tartare - the lobster salad entrée was too salty & heavy with mayo - the mains (duck, veal) were moist & generously portioned - make sure you leave room for dessert: lime cheesecake & profiteroles
