Reviews describe La Prunelle as a warm, intimate French spot in the Plateau with excellent service and consistently delicious dishes. The menu features tartare de boeuf, magret de canard, ris de veau, octopus, and creme brulee, with many noting refined technique, appealing presentation and thoughtful flavor combinations. The atmosphere is cozy and charming, with soft lighting, a lively street view and a pleasant terrace in summer. Bring your own wine is a popular feature, offering good value for both date nights and small gatherings. Some critics note occasional drawbacks such as fries or certain dishes being too salty, or service slowing a bit when the restaurant is busy, and the space can get loud. Overall, La Prunelle is seen as a standout neighborhood gem for classic, well executed French cuisine in Montreal, delivering memorable evenings and a welcoming atmosphere.
Ambiance conviviale, magnifique terrasse! Service courtois & efficace!
Ordered the Octopus appetizer. The restaurant owner provided a second serving after I mentioned that it was not tender. The second serving was perfect. I was impressed by the owner’s reaction.
I ordered the Sweetbread with Alsatian Sauerkraut for the main dish. Dessert was a goat cheesecake with raspberry coulis. Everything was perfect. The owner is all class!
So, here's what I think - the beef tartare was a bit too chewy for my liking, & the pieces were on the larger side. Even though I typically enjoy beef tartare. The egg was a nice touch to the plater, I must say. The mushroom dish was a bit disappointing, I have to admit. The main plate - the Riz de Veau was downright amazing! I did appreciate the great service & the overall nice vibe.
OMG. La Prunelle of My Stomach. Trop trop bon. The oysters PERFECT I SAY Les Champignons Wow. Mon Steak . Les patates EVERY DAY PLEASE. Crème Brûlée Oh la la. The amazing Waitstaff got us a table. & we forced them to celebrate some Peeps from Vermont they brought them some ice cream & candles. Love your mouth go there & IT IS A BYOB. AMAZING 😍
