To the review right below mine (newest to oldest):

'I've been a loyal customer of La Perle for years': So, you've been coming to this restaurant for years & had a good experience every time except for one time, & that is the moment you decide to write a review? You enjoyed coming to a place nine times out of ten, & the one time it wasn't a good experience, you decide to write a bad review? The math isn't adding up. You enjoyed your visit 90% of the time, & then you decide to give a 1-star review the one time you didn't enjoy your visit.

'one of my family members found an ant in their rice. When we raised our concerns, the response was dismissive, a $20 credit on a $400 bill. This isn't about the money.': The staff apologized to you guys & offered free drinks & a $20 discount as compensation; yet, you were giving the staff a lot of attitude. You emphasized the $20 credit on a $400 bill as if it is insufficient. What else did you want? It is an all-you-can-eat restaurant, so you can simply reorder the dish. Moreover, you said that'this isn't about money'; however, in reality, you demanded a free bill for one person, which is $44. If you are going to post a review, at least don't spread lies & pretend that you'didn't care for the money' or'money compensation wasn't the issue,' which clearly it was when you wanted more than a $20 compensation-even though in your review you state,'This isn't about the money.' I am not sure how one can attain this level of greediness. You found an ant in a bowl of steamed rice worth $3.50 & demand $44 in compensation. This is more than 10x the compensation you are asking for, so don't even say that'this isn't about money.' Unless you suffered mental trauma & psychological damages from an ant in steamed rice, I find the 10x compensation unjustified. You ate all the main courses & appetizers, & at the very end of your meal, you find an ant in a small plate of steamed rice & demand a free bill on your entire meal-including the main courses & appetizers you already ate, which were in good condition. Make it make sense. Found an ant in steamed rice = Free bill including main course, appetizer, & dessert? Next time, go to The Keg & try asking for a free bill (including steak & appetizer) when you find a fruit fly in your soup & let's see if they comply. One's life must be very miserable & sad if they lie in their reviews. What does one gain from this? Must be leading an unfruitful life... must be quite pitiful

I have lived in multiple countries & traveled to more than 50. This is by far my favorite restaurant that I have EVER been to. Well worth the price. We book flights with layovers in Montreal just to be able to make a stop here to eat.

Very good food. A lot of variety. Take the'All you can eat' so that you can have the most choices. Everything is prepared specifically for you... It is not a buffet. Do not worry about the quantities as they will figure it out depending on what you order. There are a lot of choices. Need to go many times to be able to try the different menu items.

Really disappointed in the service. La Perle is a West Island staple. Truly the best Chinese food you can eat in the city but the service is to be left desired. I had driven specifically from downtown to pick up food & when I arrived home, I noticed a dish was missing. A simple mistake surely, I called to advise them to get a refund for the dish or a restaurant credit. The woman on the phone sounded shocked & said they'd need to check the cameras & call back. Pretty surprised by her response considering it's a little strange to have cameras watching their kitchen staff but I said no problem & thank you for checking. It's now three days later, no call back & no apology from the restaurant. Really disappointed as a long time fan.

This used to be a great all you can eat restaurant. They closed it for 2 months. Now, it's not the same. Be careful about "all you can eat" part. If you ask for more than one of the popular dishes, you must insist & must insist & must insist to get them. It's really annoying (I am talking about peanut butter dumplings & canape). We waited for over 1.5 hours for main dishes. We were 6 people & ordered 3 peanut butter dumplings & 2 canape for entry. After 0.5 h we got only one & one. They insisted that they are going to bring them later. Didn't happen but after a heated discussion with the waiter. Still didn't get ever our second canape asked. In general, the food is very good, but it used to be better.

I've been going to this restaurant since 2013. I've never ate peanut butter dumplings as good as theirs. Food is fresh & delicious, great atmosphere to go in a group. You definitely should try this place! The best all you can eat, keeping it classy. Note: please add a changing table for babies in your restaurant, us parents we would totally appreciate it

Very popular Chinese Thai restaurant on west island of Montreal, the entrance is on the back of building, through building main entrance for several business, spa, sushi restaurant, bit confusing, & the door of restaurant is not easy to recognize 😀 😜 😉, the food is good, you have two options, all you can eat or pay what you order, you are give pencil & a piece of paper note, write down the number of dish, wait stuff bring the food to your table, they claim general tao chicken is their signature dish, try the dry fried shrimp 🍤 with garlic butter sauce, ask waiting stuff what ethnic Chinese ordered, mostly you will get delicious food, they close at 10 pm, there are fortune cookies & cookies 🍪 with the bill

West Island location with plenty of parking. Restaurant has great seating arrangements & not cramped in. The choice of pay by plate or one set fee all you can eat order by number. Prices fair, but not cheap. Food overall good. Everything I ordered came quickly, warm presented well. I would return if in the West Island again, but wouldn't go out of my way to return if not already in West Island.

La Perle has been our go to place for, IMHO, the best Szechuan & Thai food in Montreal. We often go as a group & opt for the all you can eat menu. The choice is amazing & the quality is outstanding. La Perle has not disappointed since we move to the West Island over 40 years ago. Highly recommended.

The food was very good. We took the *All you can eat" ($43.95, 1/2 price for kids under 10) & the waiter was very helpful in explaining all the choices. Our daighter asked for a second bowl of ice cream & she got it 🙂 I would totally recommend.

This is a true hidden pearl of the west islands. Love the food & the high class service. I recommend making a reservation. If you are hubgry, chose the all you can eat option.

My husband & I went to eat there last night & our experience inspired me to write this review - the food is EXCELLENT every single time we go. Fresh, hot, tasty, flavourful... the list goes on. You can eat to your heart's content & never be disappointed. Staff is always friendly & the restaurant is consistently packed, which is no surprise.

Arrived here with my wife on Valentine's Day 2019 for a 7:30pm reservation. Sat down & the first question the waiter asked me was how I was paying. A strange question to ask someone before ordering but I answered cash. After 25 minutes my order was placed officially according to our manager (more on that later). We had our entree served around 20 minutes later. At around 9pm our main course never arrived & we witnessed two tables leave due to the main courses not arriving. We were unable to stay any longer as being there for 1.5h without a main course at an all you can eat restaurant is just plain unacceptable. So we decided to leave & asked to be charged for just what we ate. Our soups, shrimp toast, salad, peanut dumplings & a beer. We asked the waiter for the bill & he came back with the full amount 95$. I then told him this was unacceptable & offered him half the bill as there was no service performed. Plus they never even came once to remove the dishes on our table the entire time we were there. The manager refused this offer & demanded we pay the full amount & that if we didn't he would call the cops. I told him this was completely unacceptable & then he threatened to take my license down & chase me down. Talk about customer service here. At 9:30 he brought me my food in a take out bag & out of shear disappointment I paid the full amount. Please stay away from this shameful restaurant & what a true horrible experience for my wife & I to experience on Valentine's Day.
