a super intimate & cozy little place with extremely enthusiastic & friendly staff, & INCREDIBLE food that was clearly made with so much love & care. it tastes like the kind of food that people would have secret recipes locked up in a safe for. the portions of the mains however, were on the smaller size for their price (but it definitely made up for it with its quality)

the star of the show is their focaccia barese, their most popular being the mortadella & che figa one. each bite was like a circus of flavours: the fragrant, luxurious aroma of virgin olive oil wafting into your nose (an EXTREMELY generous drizzle at that); the sharpness of the sea salt melting onto your tongue to complement the strong scent of rosemary; a slightly burnt, charred taste of the baked focaccia; & the milky freshness of the creamy burrata piled on. the mortadella one was enhanced further by the buttery nuttiness of its crunchy pistachios & delicate savouriness of its velvety smooth mortadella; while the che figa was a burst of intense, concentrated sweetness from its honey & fruity tomatoes, alongside bold, salty slices of prosciutto. it was also my first time trying figs, & i was immediately in awe: it was like a combination of juicy melons & fresh kiwi (but without the sourness), made even more succulent by the honey. the focaccia base itself was obviously phenomenal as well; masterfully baked to give the softest, pillowiest dough that sinks & rises with every bite. my only gripe would be that the focaccia is not served warm, so the bread didn't give the impression of being right-out-of-the-oven fresh (even though it was fresh in every other sense).

i was also blown away by the fritte di san nicole, which were like airy, hollow pockets of dough paired with an onion aioli with a bit of sweetness. the dough was a lot like donut dough, with the same slight chewiness & fragrance. they were warm, not greasy, & the perfect snack. could not stop taking bite after bite, it was so addicting.

even for someone who doesn't LOVE pasta, the pesto pistachio one was delicious. the earthy pesto sauce was soooo creamy & its deep, complex flavour was enriched immensely by the olive oil (i'm starting to think olive oil is their secret weapon). the warm pasta was contrasted with their cold, creamy burrata & complemented with a slight fermented cheese undertone & buttery, crunchy, nutty, sweet pistachios.

I recently visited on August 1 & unfortunately left feeling very disappointed with the overall experience, primarily because of the service. It was exceptionally slow, & at times it felt almost nonexistent.

I noticed the owner has responded to other reviews by mentioning staffing shortages. However, that did not appear to be the case during our visit. While we were there, one employee spent most of their time chatting with customers, while another was sitting on a chair talking with what appeared to be a friend or coworker. Meanwhile, we were unable to get anyone's attention. We wanted more water & also hoped to order drinks to accompany our meal, but no one ever came to check on us. We genuinely felt overlooked & unimportant.

If the restaurant has security cameras, I would encourage the owner to review the footage from that day. The only employee who appeared to be actively working was focused on setting up new tables & greeting incoming guests, while those of us who were already seated received little to no attention. It felt as though bringing in new customers had become the priority, rather than taking care of the ones already dining.

I had to get up several times just to try to get someone's attention for a simple refill of water, & it wasn't until the fourth attempt that I was finally successful. Despite wanting to order drinks with our meal, no one ever returned to our table. Throughout the entire meal, we essentially received no service.

The focaccia itself was good, although I personally found it a little too salty. Unfortunately, the quality of the food wasn't enough to compensate for the poor service.

Overall, I left very disappointed. I had heard so many great things about this restaurant, especially through TikTok, & I was genuinely excited to try it. Sadly, the experience did not live up to the reputation. I truly hope this feedback is taken constructively, as the food has potential, but the level of service we experienced fell far short of expectations.
