La Maison Dumplings (The Dumpling Hut) comes across as a cozy hidden gem where handmade dumplings are prepared fresh and served in a warm, homey space, with the option to watch dumplings being made behind the counter. Reviewers describe the skins as chewy and the fillings juicy, with favorites including pork and dill, lamb coriander, beef and onion, and a variety that often includes cucumber salad and miso soup; many say the dumplings are among the best in Montreal and praise the wide variety and quality. The menu accommodates both steamed and fried dumplings, with vegetarian options noted as well and prices viewed as fair for the portion size. Service is described as fast and friendly, though crowds can make it feel busy and a couple of visits note the service at peak times was not perfect. The atmosphere is charming and intimate, sometimes a bit noisy, but the space is appreciated for its cozy house vibe and the chance to sample a range of flavors with friends or family. Overall, this spot is widely recommended as a reliable, tasty option for dumplings, with many finding it a go to for fresh, well seasoned, homemade style bites.
Really cozy & charming spot near mount royal. I discovered this place accidentally because there very little advertising. It looks like an apartment but actually a cozy restaurant. Small & quiet place with great food. The menu is nice, service is great. We had 2 plates. One steamed & one fried. The friend dumplings were better. We will be back for sure.
The Dumpling Hut is a small, cosy spot with a warm, homey feel, the kind of hidden gem you might walk past if you don't look closely. The entrance is tucked in, & inside you'll find a wall covered in handwritten Post-it notes that adds a lot of charm & personality.
The dumplings are fresh & clearly made with care, & you can watch the prep happen behind the counter. We shared a mix: chicken & mushroom, lamb & coriander, cabbage & mushroom & seaweed & cucumber salad. Everything was satisfying & well-balanced, nothing too oily or heavy. The chicken & mushroom stood out, & the cucumber salad on the side was a refreshing touch.
Service is quick & friendly. The space is simple & unpretentious, but the food more than makes up for it.
Tips:
Go with two or three people so you can try more dishes without waiting long.
Order a mix of steamed & fried dumplings, depending on what's fresh that day.
Expect a short wait at peak times.
A relaxed, local spot for handmade dumplings that feel home-cooked & comforting. I'd go back for sure.
you can choose to have your dumplings either steamed or fried, but for whatever reason the fried dumplings don't even come with a SKIRT!! also the fried dumplings cost extra & are barely any different than the steamed ones
cool little spot anyways with an area where you can write your own little post-it at the entrance
Walked 30mins to get here. I ordered fried pork, zucchini & shrimp dumplings to go. I didn't realize it wasn't fried (but steamed) until I had left. I liked the meal but would have very much preferred the fried option, more so because I paired extra for it.
Genuinely my favourite dumplings in mtl. I always get the beef & onion steamed & a cucumber salad. Having tried many dumplings restaurants in mtl this one is by farrrrr the best. Highly recommend. & service is always great & super fast. Also prices are very fai
It felt like walking into someone's home, in the best way possible. I really appreciated the unassuming, cosy atmosphere & being welcomed with warm smiles. The menu was concise & the food simple, but very flavorful & made with quality ingredients. I highly recommend the shrimp & zucchini steamed dumplings!
Dumplings are really good! There is one vegetarian option with egg & two vegan options available. A little card but very good dumplings. Dumplings can be steamed or fried (both is very good). Can recommend

I hate giving away secret spots. This place is amazing. Dumplings were perfectly cooked. Got steamed & fried. Only thing missing is a good beer. No alcohol license it would appear. Still, place stands in its own for the dumplings. Not to be missed.
