La Cave à Manger est une adresse intime du Vieux-Montréal où les pâtisseries font l’unanimité, croissants croustillants et rouleaux pistache, éclair au chocolat et pains au chocolat étant souvent cités parmi les favoris; l’offre sucrée se mêle à des options salées comme des sandwiches et une pizza, le tout servi par un personnel chaleureux et efficace. Le cadre est petit et parfois en sous-sol, ce qui peut limiter les places assises, mais l’ambiance cosy et la terrasse extérieure compensent largement. Absolutely loved the croissants here! If you're in Montreal & craving something fresh & buttery, this spot is a must. So fresh & so delicious highly recommended!

We visited one early morning on a tuesday so it was still nice & peaceful. We went down the steps to a cozy bakery with a few seating inside & friendly staff. The pastries were made fresh & we got to enjoy a perfectly cooked smoked salmon sandwich, ham & cheese & fresh-out-the-oven pistachio croissant rolls! everything was sooo good! simple but quite satisfying for some reason.
Outside seating is a delight if you dont mind cleaning up some bird poo a bit so you can sit comfortably. Overall we really had a great time.
It would be nice to have the garbage bins moved to a location not by the steps though. But I get that maybe a'high-traffic' area would be best so the birds dont mess with it too much.
if you stop by, definitely try their croissant rolls!! the pistachio one was just amazing!
La Cave à Manger Boulangerie in Old Montréal is an iconic, rustic patisserie that's definitely worth a visit! They offer a highly curated selection of pastries, & we went for the chocolate croissant éclairs & the tiramisu croissant roll. Both were absolutely delicious-the fillings were rich & flavorful, & the pastries themselves were fresh, flaky, & buttery without being overly sweet. Every bite was a delight!
I also loved the ambiance of the place. It's rustic & charming, with a perfect outdoor seating area to enjoy your treats. It's a great spot to relax & take in the vibe of the Old Port. I'll definitely be back to try more of their amazing pastries!
Top pastry choice for when visiting Montreal. Their chocolate eclairs are unreal, so rich in flavor. Croissants are fluffy, & crispy, at the same time which was perfect. Nice European-style patio outside to enjoy your food. Great service - friendly, fast, & efficient. Would definitely be coming back here again!
🥐'Tree Ring' Croissant - Very sweet, with a gooey filling that oozes out from the center. If you like dessert-level sweetness, this one's for you - but it was a bit much for me.
🍫 Long Chocolate Croissant - Loved this one! Not overly sweet, & the chocolate filling in the middle was perfectly balanced. Definitely my favorite of the two. 💯
J'ai essayé plusieurs fois & chaque fois je trouve ça très décevant & overpriced. Les viennoiseries sont grosses & belles en apparence, mais la texture & le goût ne sont pas particulièrement bons. Même si le prix était bas je n'irai pas à nouveau, bien honnêtement, on a de bien meilleurs endroits en ville.
How to tell our family we are leaving them all & moving to Montreal because of this bakery & their'rolls'. Everything here in this underground bakery is EXCELLENT, but their truck tire-size rolls of croissant dough with heavenly fillings put us over the edge. It's so good that we are torn to post this because you will come & try the fresh orange juice, great coffee & baked goods produced with the highest standards & best possible ingredients (not easy to do these days) & - then it will be even more crowded. But such an amazing place & the world needs all the amazing it can get these days. Making the world better, one pastry at a time. &, no, I am not even their mom. ❤?

The hazelnut noisette (basically what they have at lafayette bakery in NYC) was so fire. Also got a chicken banh mi (but in french 🥖) & it was crazyyy. Chocolate eclair croissant was pretty good too! Cool idea / texture, but the hazelnut one was bette
Je suis venue initiallement pour les New York rolls & j'ai été déçue du Tiramisu Roll… il était sec:( & l'intérieur bien trop sucré, on aurait dit de l'érable… MAIS j'ai été étonnée par leurs sandwiches délicieux (tellement bon je l'ai avalé sans prendre de photos)!! Copieux, frais, & bien remplissant! On a gouté aux 3 & tous délicieux!
donc… Peut-être assurez vous que les pâtisseries soient fraiches du jour même? En tout cas, très bon plan lunch!
It's sorta hidden but once you find it, it offers delicious bakeries & good coffee.
The bakery was a bit pricey but it's located on a touristic spot.
I would recommand the Tiramisu Roll, its crunchy on the outside, & soft on the inside that is filled with sugary filling!
