About

La Carreta specializes in the preparation of authentic Salvadorian cuisine, featuring pupusas as the cornerstone of the menu. These thick, handmade corn tortillas are stuffed with various combinations of savory ingredients like seasoned pork, refried beans, and melty cheese. The kitchen maintains high standards by pairing these staples with curtido, a vibrant fermented cabbage slaw, and a tangy tomato-based salsa. Beyond the signature pupusas, the menu offers traditional staples such as fried yuca with chicharron and plantains served with crema. The dining atmosphere focuses on functional simplicity, allowing the bold flavors of Central American spices and fresh ingredients to remain the primary attraction. Every plate reflects deep culinary traditions by utilizing time-honored techniques to ensure consistency across every meal served to patrons seeking genuine regional flavors.

Awesome Salvadoran restaurant with some familiar Mexican picks on the menu as well. The prices are fantastic & so is the quality. Service was very friendly & personable. The interior is well put together, the mural in the corner paying homage to Bukele is unique.

Delicious pupusas, friendly staff - but expect a wait on busy nights

The restaurant is well located & the staff is very friendly & welcoming. The pupusas & the accompanying salad were absolutely delicious & very reasonably priced.

The downside was the long wait: over 45 to 60 minutes to get a table, & then another 30 to 40 minutes for the food to arrive. This happened on a Friday night, which is understandably one of their busiest times.

To avoid the long wait, I strongly recommend making a reservation through their website in advance.

Despite the wait, the kindness of the staff & the quality of the food made it worth it. Definitely a place I'd go back to without hesitation.

Recently renovated & expanded without sacrificing cost, value, or quality. One of my favourite spots in the area, hands down
