THE HISTORY OF LA BINERIE MONT-ROYAL June 11th, 1938 Joachim Lussier is the founder and first owner of La Binerie MONT-ROYAL. Assisted by his brother Leo, he decided that the traditional Quebec cuisine and family spirit are the pillars of the establishment. During the first 60 years, several members of their families worked at the restaurant and left their contributions and memories with the customers. La Binerie Mont-Royal has become a culinary institution in Quebec, which is proud to offer authentic Quebec cuisine to all those who want to remember the good experiences of family meals. Memorable experiences are created for all new customers! July 13th, 1966 Leo buys his brother's restaurant. In October of the same year, he hired a "new kid", a waiter, Fernand Groulx rapidly integrating with the Lussier family. In October 1969, Fernand weds Claire, Leo’s eldest daughter. So when Leo decided to retire - he knew that there was someone to take his place! August 4th, 1978, after 40 years of service, Leo sells La Binerie Mont-Royal to Fernand and Claire. The two work together for over 30 years! March 10th, 2001, the secret recipes of La Binerie Mont-Royal are given to a trio of restaurants in Quebec which brought some physical improvements to the restaurant. In March 2002, the torch of Quebec cuisine was purchased and continued by Suzanne Touchette and Bernard Deschamps. November 17th, 2005, Jocelyne and Philippe Brunet became the happy recipients of La Binerie Mont-Royal. They were looking for several months for a restaurant that offered food and special experience, which also had development potential. In hopes of making a cozier restaurant, the bar and the tables are now solid maple and walls are covered with pictures of our family traditions from the great Quebec illustrator Joseph-Edmond Massicotte. Several improvements in the menu were made and continue to be, so that the dishes offered can live up to the required quality, while respecting the authenticity of the Quebec cuisine! They like to offer their loyal customers and the many visitors from other countries, the pleasure of enjoying traditional dishes, making sure they leave with a good memory! Déjeuner normal mais correct. Les bines sont incroyablement divines!! Les serveurs très sympathique. Endroit chaleureux.
Le gros turn off sont Les toilettes du 2e étage n'ont pas été nettoyé depuis des semaines.
Voici une version naturelle, réaliste & style québécois :
Super belle découverte pour un déjeuner à la québécoise ! L'ambiance était excellente, le proprio & le staff super sympathiques, on se sent tout de suite bien accueillis. La nourriture était très bonne. J'ai même essayé le boudin pour la première fois - pas trop mon style, mais c'est une question de goût ! La décoration est vraiment incroyable, on dirait presque un petit musée tellement c'est beau.
En général, je donne un solide 5 étoiles pour leur travail impeccable & leur attitude super chaleureuse. Bravo à toute l'équipe !

Première visite dans ce qui semble être une institution
Un belle sélection de plats simples mais bien préparé . Les portions sont généreuses, la préparation est bien faite, la cuisson au four évite la surcharge de gras
Sympathique
J'ai commandé sur Uber Eats le pâté chinois format repas au coût de 28.50$ & j'ai reçu le pâté dans un petit contenant en plastique, des bines & du pouding chômeur. L'autre option est le plat de pâté chinois à 18.50$.
Dans les deux cas, ça ne vaut pas du tout la peine.
À ce prix, je m'attendais à une portion beaucoup plus grande du pâté & qu'il soit grillé au four & non réchauffé du congélateur.
Cependant, le dessert avait du goût & le pâté était correct sans plus.
Nous sommes allé vendredi dernier a midi, nous avons pris un déjeuné traditionnel oeuf, bacon jambon, fèves aux lards , patate roti & pain. Malheureusement les patates & les fèves aux lard étaient froids dans notre assiette & le café probablement réchauffé, goutait l'eau. Nous l'avons mentionné au serveur. Cela nous a coute $47 très décevant pour un resto avec une tel reputation. Nous irons ailleurs déjeuner la prochaine fois car ce ne sont pas les offres de resto qui manque à Mtl.

Beau restaurants moi mon déjeuner bien ordinaire patate maison sans goût des fève au lard blanche moi je trouve ça abominable 2 pauvre tranches de bacon 2 saucisses aux lard comme a l épicerie & jambon un peu plus épaisse que je mets dans mes sandwichs pour $20 & $5 de pourboires ça vaut pas le prix ce resto qui fut une institution anciennement sur la rue Mont-Royal Est devenue très décevante
Je n'ai aimé ni la nourriture ni le service.
Le serveur a été très impoli au moment du paiement parce que je ne voulais pas payer le pourcentage de pourboire qu'il voulait.

Nous avons passé un excellent moment pour dîner ! Le restaurant est situé dans une rue animée, le service était impeccable & très gentil pour nous qui découvrions les repas locaux, merci encore de nous avoir fait vivre cette expérience !

How can a meal transport you back home? Ask this amazing man, who will diligently introduce you to every dish. Every bite feels like being at a family dining table, even if you're from abroad. We had the Traditional Québec Meal, but do not skip the black sausages.
Cela fais un moment que j'y suis allée avec un ami, mais la nourriture est tout simplement délicieuse. Le propriétaire est très chaleureux, passionné & il nous a raconter un bout de l'histoire de son restaurant. Un lieu unique avec une déco nostalgique. Puis les bines sont tout simplement incroyables & délicieuses. Les meilleures bines que j'ai manger à vie. J'en salive juste à y penser. 🫶🏻 Je recommande plus plus plus & j'y retournerais certainement bientôt. Le seul bémol & ce n'est en rien avec le resto, mais plutôt l'emplacement. C'est le parking 😬 juste bonne chance pour trouver un parking sur Mont-Royal. Je conseil de s'y rendre en transport en commun, mais ça vaut mille fois le détour. Vous allez manquer quelque chose si vous n'y aller pas & prenez des bines 😍🥰.
An absolute Must Stop if you want to tary authentic Quebequois fare beyond poutine. Brightly painted yellow, seating is mostly a deli-counter style, with some tables here & there. Vintage photos & signs line the walls, reminding or teaching visitors of Montreal's past. We were invited to look around & then seat ourselves anywhere.
Everything is made in house. My husband had the shepherd pie, & I had the Tartiere (beef & pork pie.) Ketchup was provided - a staple'seasoning' for both. We also had pea soup & a caramel pudding & coffee for dessert. It was good, solid, native comfort food, probably made exactly how the cooks' grandmothers made it. Not highly-seasoned, not special food with seasonal availability but filling meals to keep you going all day long. They also had a selection of pies & proper Canadian pork & beans to purchase & bring home.
The friendly server talked with us a for a while in flawless English, & helped me with a little of my Quebequois pronunciation. When he discovered that we had a common interest, genealogy, he introduced me to a cook with the same family name as the one I was researching. Small world.
Definitely would go back again.
