THE HISTORY OF LA BINERIE MONT-ROYAL June 11th, 1938 Joachim Lussier is the founder and first owner of La Binerie MONT-ROYAL. Assisted by his brother Leo, he decided that the traditional Quebec cuisine and family spirit are the pillars of the establishment. During the first 60 years, several members of their families worked at the restaurant and left their contributions and memories with the customers. La Binerie Mont-Royal has become a culinary institution in Quebec, which is proud to offer authentic Quebec cuisine to all those who want to remember the good experiences of family meals. Memorable experiences are created for all new customers! July 13th, 1966 Leo buys his brother's restaurant. In October of the same year, he hired a "new kid", a waiter, Fernand Groulx rapidly integrating with the Lussier family. In October 1969, Fernand weds Claire, Leo’s eldest daughter. So when Leo decided to retire - he knew that there was someone to take his place! August 4th, 1978, after 40 years of service, Leo sells La Binerie Mont-Royal to Fernand and Claire. The two work together for over 30 years! March 10th, 2001, the secret recipes of La Binerie Mont-Royal are given to a trio of restaurants in Quebec which brought some physical improvements to the restaurant. In March 2002, the torch of Quebec cuisine was purchased and continued by Suzanne Touchette and Bernard Deschamps. November 17th, 2005, Jocelyne and Philippe Brunet became the happy recipients of La Binerie Mont-Royal. They were looking for several months for a restaurant that offered food and special experience, which also had development potential. In hopes of making a cozier restaurant, the bar and the tables are now solid maple and walls are covered with pictures of our family traditions from the great Quebec illustrator Joseph-Edmond Massicotte. Several improvements in the menu were made and continue to be, so that the dishes offered can live up to the required quality, while respecting the authenticity of the Quebec cuisine! They like to offer their loyal customers and the many visitors from other countries, the pleasure of enjoying traditional dishes, making sure they leave with a good memory! Eating at La Binerie Mount Royal... is putting Quebec on your plate! At the La Binerie, you will feel at home!

La Binerie Mont Royal serves traditional Quebecois breakfasts and comforting dishes in a warm, nostalgic setting, with generous portions and homemade flavors that make beans, tourtière, soupe aux pois and pouding chômeur standouts. The staff are friendly and attentive, the atmosphere is welcoming and cozy, and the menu showcases authentic, hearty cooking made on site. Some tables are a bit small and a few visits note minor inconsistencies, but the overall experience pairs history, value and delicious Quebecois fare that makes guests want to return.
Was 3 mins away from our stay, decided to check it out. Wife & I both got the eggs Benedict & were very satisfied. The beans are delicious, & the portion was filling. My only regret is that I didn't have the appetite for the tourtiere. Service in English was impeccable.
Unique spot inside, the beans are legendary & this morning we learned why - they are fabulous. The service was welcoming from the moment we entered. Seating also different - sit at a counter with stools (a few tables exist for party of four). The classic omelettes were plentiful, served with sliced potatoes, & beans! My son gave me recommendations on eateries from his last visit & now I have this place to suggest to HIM!
I really don't understand the hype... the food was pretty awful for the price point, potato uncooked & unseasoned, it took forever even though we ordered two classic breakfasts, toast tasted like burnt pan, overall very disappointed in the food. Service on the other hand was excellent, we were seated quickly offered menus & serviced with a care, I guess that saves the place.
This place serves real Quebec breakfast food, so if you are expecting fancy picture perfect food, don't give them less stars bec it's not that. Food was just as the menu described, & service was great. Place is clean & well decorated. We were a party of 4 & we were seated promptly. Didn't feel rushed & the server was friendly.
Came here because all the "viral" spots were packed with lineups out the door but I'm so happy we did! A cute quaint little spot with nice service & decor. Ordered the eggs Benedict & black sausage. It filled us up & allowed us to try some authentic quebecois food. The beans were so flavourful & everything was made fresh & so yummy! & coffee was on the house!

I came to try the Fèves au Lard, & they were excellent; especially with toast made on a wood fire. Friendly service & good conversation with the other diners. I really felt welcome & will return.
