Le restaurant est sympa, l'ambiance est familiale mais malheureusement notre expérience n'a pas été la meilleure. Nous sommes arrivés tôt, seulement 2 tables étaient occupées & la nourriture a été servie 1h30 après. C'est très bon & véritablement "fait maison" mais les plats sont un peu chers pour la quantité servie. Peut-être qu'un peu de musique dans le fond serait plus convivial. Il faut également payer uniquement en argent comptant & ce n'est pas forcément clair à votre arrivée. Le personnel est sympathique mais le service laisse un peu à désirer.View more
Decided to try this out since it's in the neighborhood, & I like supporting local businesses. Also because the last Ethiopian restaurant I tried was a bit disappointing to say the least. In short, the food here was the BOMB dot com!! Bursting with flavors, & just the right portions, laid out on freshly-made injera. Sure: the place is not the fanciest, & the service is a bit slow (expect at least a 30-minute wait for your food). It's a mom & pop shop in its truest form; Mom & Pop (owners) are the only 2 employees I saw. But once you take your first bite, everything is forgiven. Definitely going back. OMG!!! What a delicious discovery! The injara was heavenly light & fluffy & the dish (mix of tender meat stew, yellow peas, lentis (red were a little spicy & yellow were mild) cooked potatoes & carrots) was out of this world! Excellent! Ethiopian food is one of the most delicious culinary experiences across the globe. They will bring you a large circular plate full of rich flavor with the soft & spongy injera which will be enough to scoop up your entire plate. You can bring your own wine here, if that's something you like.View more
This was easily the best restaurant I've been to in Montreal by far. The food is absolutely amazing & so flavorful & the owners are the kindest people ever. Excellente cuisine éthiopienne dans une atmosphère simple & détendue. Si vous avez très faim, **arrivez tôt** car les mets sont cuisinés par une seule dame & servis suivant l'ordre des commandes. Autrement dit, si quatre clients ont commandés avant vous, vous risquez fort d'attendre votre repas pendant plus d'une heure. (Apportez-vous de la bière...) Cela dit, je peux vous assurer que votre attente sera toujours récompensée par un repas exquis! Longue vie à ce petit'trou dans le mur', qui est l'un de mes restaurants préférés de Montréal. Je vous le recommande vivement! -- Excellent Ethiopian cuisine in a simple & relaxed atmosphere. If you are very hungry, **arrive early** because the dishes are cooked by only one lady, & served in the order of arrival. In other words, if four clients have ordered before you, you stand a very high chance to be fed more than one hour later. (Bring some beer...) However, rest assured that your wait will be rewarded by a superb meal! Long live this small'hole-in-the-wall'. It is one of my favourite restaurants in Montréal, & I will never recommend it too strongly.
Excellent restaurant éthiopien. Si vous voulez goûter des choses délicieuses, allez-y sans vous posez de questions. Vous serez ravi.
Petit resto familial charmant absolument sans prétention, mais on y mange très bien (& avec ses mains comme c'est la coutume). C'est frais & c'est bon (il faut aimer les mets relevés & un peu épicés), les portions sont correctes, mais pas excessives. Les prix sont très raisonnables & on apporte son vin. Réservation obligatoire, sinon vous risquez de ne pas manger tellement c'est bondé & petit, surtout les soirs populaires.
Le service approximatif semble être assuré par les proprios qui compensent par leur sourire & leur bonne humeur. Sachez-le, l'attente des plats est incroyablement longue (60 à 90 min).
Allez-y entre amis & amenez beaucoup de bonnes bouteilles & vous allez passer une bonne soirée. Si vous êtes pressé ou que vous vous attendez à un service impeccable, passez votre chemin, vous allez détester.
Since the restaurant is run by only 2 people, the wait for our food was extremely long.. 2 hours! We were so hungry to the point that we & another table of four girls were debating on leaving or not. We felt bad so we stayed.. but as we were sitting there we noticed that the long wait could be due to the take-out orders, I assume the wife would try to cook the take-out order first & whatever people order she would cook from scratch.
Once we finally received our food, we (2 people) each made our own order so being super starved, we pictured it to be individual plates but it was one big plate with a small portion of meat that we each ordered with tiny sides of veggies.
Positive note, the man who served us is a very charming & funny waiter! but this is probably our first & last time going to the restaurant. The wait was almost unbearable.
So if you decide to try it.. either order it to-go or BYOB to the restaurant with good company to kill time ;)
Ce petit restaurant, semble rien de l'extérieur, mais les 15 places à l'intérieur sont très coquettes ! Le service est excellent & en français par un couple (propriétaire) tout à fait charmant. Ils ont aussi le désirs de partager la culture. On se sent presque dans une maison, la chef cuisinières, revenait tout juste de faire les course pour le soupé même. Les produits sont frais cuisiné sur place.
Il ne faut pas être pressé, ce n'est pas de la cuisine commercial, mais artisanal, maison. & je vous conseille le vendredi samedi dimanche de reserver, car c'est plein & ils ne sont pas du genre à poussé les «clients» à la porte, au contraire !
Belle endroit pour y passer la soirée !
