Had a lovely meal at Khyber Pass! The Kabuli Pulaw with lamb & the mantu were both delicious. The portion sizes were generous & the prices were reasonable, especially for the area.
Our waiter was fantastic. The atmosphere was relaxed, & the terrace seating was a really nice touch, especially on a pleasant evening.
I do wish they served bolani & chapli kebab, which are some of our favorite Afghan dishes & would round out the menu nicely. Interestingly, most of the diners were not Afghan. Would go back if in Montreal!View more
Amazing food & customer service. The wait staff were very attentive. The atmosphere very peaceful & green (we were in the backyard). We ordered the lentil & Mashawa soup (very tasty), afghani dumplings (Mantoo), mourg chalaw (very tender) & Tikka kebab. If we had one more day in Montreal, would have gone back for their signature dish, the lamb shank.View more
This is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Montreal. Wow, just amazing food. For the entrée we got the leek stuffed pasta, & it was amazing. For the main we got the quail, it was juicy & deliciously seasoned to perfection (apparently the spice mix is a secret that the chef keeps to himself!). We also got the lamb shank, it was so amazingly tender, falling off the bone. I've never eaten such delicious meat in my life. Just wow. The rose pudding felt like a soft cloud inside my mouth, aromatic with notes of pistachios & cardamon, perfect to finish the meal. I recommend going there when you're hungry, because the portions are quite big. The table d'hôte is quite worth it. Our waiter was very nice & fast. Overall an amazing experience. 10/10 highly reccomend.View more
Go for the Kabuli pulaw, succulent & soft lamb shanks are totally worth it!
The eggplant for appetizers was delicious 😋 😍View more
Amazing!!
Staff & service was perfect. The lamb shank, fillet mignon & the rose water pudding were great .. love this place .View more
We were greeted by the host on entrance & asked if we wanted to sit inside or on the terrace. We were served three sauces, I liked the yogurt one, with some Afghani bite-sized naans. We ordered the 3 course choices that they had. Both of their soups were spot on, & so was the dessert pudding. The dessert was not very sweet, which is how we like it. The tea at the end was the cherry on top. The lamb shank I ordered was decent. The meat was coming off like butter, but it didn't wow me with its taste. We were a bit disappointed by the meatballs. They hardly looked like meatballs but rather two big pucks of meat. The sauce tasted better than the lambshank but was overly tomatoey. The service was outstanding! The waiters were really nice! The atmosphere was fantastic. It took me back to Afghanistan with all the cultural decoration.View more
Delicious traditional afghan food & very cool atmosphere. Maybe I'm biased because I'm half afghan, but I loved it! The lamb shank withe the kabuli palaw was so tender. I recommend get one of the table d'hote options for someone with a big appetite & wants to try the soup, maybe an appetizer, & desser with tea or coffee. Very cute patioView more
Such a great place, the lamb is amazing.
The service is A+, very friendly & a nice decor.View more
My first time trying Afghan food & it's so good!! we ordered Set 2 (comes with soup, main course, dessert, & tea/coffee) & everything was delicious. Also, I don't normally like lamb but I heard that it's really good here, so I ordered it & it's the first lamb I've actually enjoyed! The pistachio rose pudding was absolutely heavenly & the tea was so floral & spiced!View more

I have no bad things to say about this restaurant. The ambience was super cozy & I felt very welcome. Their value for the table d'hôte is incredible if you want to sample many dishes. Everything we ordered was so so flavourful & well spiced. The lamb was incredibly tender. I highly recommend the ashak dumplings & the pumpkin appetizer. This restaurant is well worth the visit.View more
Stumbled across this place while exploring the neighborhood on a visit to Montreal, & went in because we had never tried Afghan cuisine. Lucky for us they had 1 unreserved table. My wife & I each had a different lamb shank dish, & the lentil soup. From the flatbread they brought to the table, to the soup & the entrees, everything was exquisite. Khyber Pass was a definite highlight of out trip to Montreal. If we go back to the city, this restaurant will definitely be on the itinerary.View more
Tasty food, not dissimilar from Lebanese in flavour, but portions were rather small. I had lamb & it was super soft, although the sauce was a little spicy, for which I paid a price overnightView more
Nestled in the heart of Montreal, Khyber Pass offers an authentic taste of Afghan cuisine that delights the senses. The lamb kebab & shank are simply excellent - tender, flavourful, & perfectly seasoned. The rice, infused with interesting spices, complements the dishes beautifully. The table d'hote menu provided a generous selection at a very fair price, making it a great value for money. One of the highlights is the beautiful terrasse in the back, providing a peaceful & charming ambiance for outdoor dining. For drinks, it is BYOB, maybe add some non-alcoholic beer? Just a thought 😊. The cardamom-infused green tea is fabulous, but served in a small cup, & the waiter did not offer a refill, which was a slight letdown. Despite this, the overall experience at Khyberpass was delightful, & it is a must-visit for anyone looking to explore Afghan flavours in Montreal.View more
Do not miss out on the Kabuli Palaw (lamb shank). We also loved the Borani eggplant & the lentil soup.View more
We ordered Kabuli Pulao & another lamb dish. The food was okay. However, above 33 dollars per person per dish, it was not at all worth it. Apart from that, they have a rule that "there has to be a minimum of 1 dish order per person". Through this, they make sure 2 people can't share a plate of their expensive food. The atmosphere was not great. The interior was very cramped. Without even asking, they had already included a 15+% tip. Not worth it. & the food is definitely not worth what you're paying for.View more
Best place to eat the best lamb shank in town. Perfect exotic ambiance , friendly staff, excellent service, delicious dishes & BYOW! You will not be disappointed. A must if you are in town.View more
The exterior of this restaurant always intrigued me. Finally went. The food is great (lamb was so tender & everything was wonderfully flavorful) & good value for the amount you get. Love the ambience & the service was excellent. I will definitely be going back & taking friends.View more
An amazing dining experience in all domains! Our service was friendly, kind, & attentive. Our food was amazing, with flavorful lamb melting off the bone. The borani à la citrouille was particularly tasty, as was the rose water pudding. The space was itself was warm & cozy, & the price point very reasonable.View more
We had a fantastic dinner here. Every dish we had was flavorful & they use some delicious spices as well. We got the table d'hôte menu (a 4 course menu) & the lamb in tomato sauce was my favorite dish. The lamb was falling off the bone & the sauce was spiced & balanced. It's BYOB which is nice too!View more
