Had a lovely meal at Khyber Pass! The Kabuli Pulaw with lamb & the mantu were both delicious. The portion sizes were generous & the prices were reasonable, especially for the area.
Our waiter was fantastic. The atmosphere was relaxed, & the terrace seating was a really nice touch, especially on a pleasant evening.
I do wish they served bolani & chapli kebab, which are some of our favorite Afghan dishes & would round out the menu nicely. Interestingly, most of the diners were not Afghan. Would go back if in Montreal!View more

Delicious traditional afghan food & very cool atmosphere. Maybe I'm biased because I'm half afghan, but I loved it! The lamb shank withe the kabuli palaw was so tender. I recommend get one of the table d'hote options for someone with a big appetite & wants to try the soup, maybe an appetizer, & desser with tea or coffee. Very cute patioView more

I've been here twice, the second time within a few weeks of the first because I loved the food so much. Highly recommend going with the set menu in order to sample all of the dishes; really great value for all the food you get. I've enjoyed every dish I've had, from the bread & dips right to the dessert. Highlights for me are the sambossa, borani aubergines, kabuli palaw, & korma chalaw. We got lucky the first time as a group of 5 people without a reservation, but in general I would recommend making a reservation. The only suggestion for improvement would be more consistent service. The first visit, we had very attentive, helpful service where the waiter explained the dishes & also told us our options for different types of tea. The second time, a few weeks ago, the service felt quite impersonal & almost rushed, & I received a black tea instead of being asked for my preferences. That said, the host noticed I was quite cold & actually turned the heat up for me, & the timing of each course was great.View more

Amazing afghani food & beautiful restaurant! It's like entering another world. They have so many amazing dishes & their table d'hote options is amazing. I chose the mashaba soup, mantou, & kabuli palaw. It also came with bread & dipping sauce, tea (or coffee) & the pistachios rose pudding. It was a feast. We ordered Kabuli Pulao & another lamb dish. The food was okay. However, above 33 dollars per person per dish, it was not at all worth it. Apart from that, they have a rule that "there has to be a minimum of 1 dish order per person". Through this, they make sure 2 people can't share a plate of their expensive food. The atmosphere was not great. The interior was very cramped. Without even asking, they had already included a 15+% tip. Not worth it. & the food is definitely not worth what you're paying for.View more

Great spot for Afghan food in the mile end. I had the table d’hôte with Kabuli Palaw. The lamb was tender & fall off the bone, the rice was very flavourful. The rose pistachio pudding was delicious. BYOB, good portion size & the staff were kind & attentive.View more

nous visitons notre restaurant préféré 2 fois par an. nous prenons toujours la soupe Kabuli à l'agneau & l'entrée au choix Ashak & manto le service est super comme toujours notre dernière visite ce mois-ci a été décevante, notre pates bouilies farcies avec boeuf hache & poireaux bien secs & sans sel ni epices ..il faut en changer. J'espère que le propriétaire changera ou achètera un produit frais & savoureux. pourquoi changeraient-ils quelque chose de délicieux en quelque chose de différent. j'écris ce commentaire pour partager mon point de vue. j'adore ce restaurant nous sommes heureux que vous soyez ouvert bientôt nous vous rendrons visite avec un grand groupe pour notre bureau de fête de noël merci
