I'm so glad I decided to give this spot a try! The Udon Katsuya (a comforting soup) was absolutely amazing. We also had the takoyaki, & hands down, it's the best I've had in the city-& I've tried plenty. Of course, we couldn't leave without ordering the Supreme Sweet Chili Chicken Katsu, & it did not disappoint. Everything was bursting with flavor. I'm 100% coming back!View more
I really enjoyed the rose udon. The service was great & the waitress was so sweet. Definitely a comfort spot & will for sure come again!View more
The food is too sweet for my taste palate & so I didn't enjoy as much. The hot spicy sauce felt just like siracha so I don't think I am fan. However, the food is fresh & the service is great.
We tried the hot spicy sauce katsu & the karaage chicken supreme appetizer. The garlic spicy sauce katsu might have been better.View more
good portion of katsu. Rice is not tasty. BBQ sauce with the japanese katsu item is strange. Sesame is hard to make into a paste because no space to do it. Everything is korean style, sweet, garlicky.View more
amazing food! the service was very friendly as well! I recommend the cheese balls & sweet potato cheese katsu. it's life changing, everyone needs to try it at least once in their lifetimeView more
Every katsu we tried were delicious! My favourites were the garlic sweet chili katsu & the sweet potato & cheese katsu. You get 2 pieces of katsu if you don't order the cheese or sweet potato katsu. The sweet chili sauce tasted similar to the yangnyeom sauce & the addition of the sweet potato & cheese to the katsu gave it a nice sweet & savoury balance. The service was good & it wasn't too packed on a Saturday lunch. You get unlimited soup, rice & salad refills which is nice. For the price & portion, I think it was worth it! Will come back again!View more
My partner & I ate here on Friday August 9th around 4PM. This is a small restaurant conveniently located steps away from the Guy Concordia/St Mathieu exit of the metro. It's close to the university & many other great asian restaurants. Decor is modern, clean. Recently renovated as it opened in June of 2024. I heard about it through social media, they have other chains throughout Canada & the videos I saw all featured beautifully presented, generous portions of fried pork, chicken, fish or cheese drizzles in sauces & curries. My experience was just as advsertised, & delicious! Since we dined early, the restaurant was pretty empty. We were seated right away, offered a jug of cold water & showed how to retrieve the menu. They do not serve a printed menu, you will need to scan a QR code at the table to open up a PDF menu. This is easily accesible on their website as well. The specialty is fried chicken, pork cutlets, fish or cheese deep fried in a light breading & coated with a curry or teriyaki, mayo style sauce. There are different types of curries & sauces to choose from, including carbonara which is an original idea. The dishes are served with a small soup, white rice & pickled slaw/vegetables. We ordered an appetizer of the "snow cheese balls" which are deep fried mozzarella balls covered in a sweet honey type powder. Our main meals were the chicken katsu with carbonara & the pork katsu with original curry. The portions were generous, enough to share, & flavors were amazing. Meats were super tender, the curries were mild, not spicy & the breading on the meats were krispy, cooked perfectly. There's a lot I'd love to try, highly recommend coming with more people if you want to order more food & share. Service was friendly, food was speedy & everything was tasty. Must try!View more
The food was excellent & very filling. Staff was friendly, & atmosphere was relaxing. Definitely recommend the original supreme porc katsu, & cheese & sweet potato katsu 👌View more
The portion is HUGE, well worth the 20$ price. This shop specializes in fried cutlets (katsu) : you can choose the type of meat you want (chicken, pork, fish) or vegetarian (cheese or sweet potato & cheese) & also the sauce that you want. They have several options to choose from. I tried the curry one & my friend got the sweet chili supreme. Both were nicely fried & sauces were good. Earlier in the month, I tried more stuff from the menu & the quality was maintained. Get the fried cheeseballs & the yuzu highball. Overall, a good place for lunch, for takeout or just a easy supper.View more
There's a complementary soup that goes with every meal. I got cheese balls as an appetizer, which are satisfyingly crispy with a melty center. They taste surprisingly sweet, & comes with a sauce that tastes like ketchup. The Japanese pork katsu was good. It is a good portion, with two cutlets, perfectly crispy. The sauce tastes like ketchup too. The service was good despite the restaurant being busy when we went. However, there is no air conditioner or fans, so it was extremely hot since it was so packed & it was about 30 degrees Celsius outside. I personally wouldn't go back for this reason.View more
First time here with the missus, I tried the Terri Mayo Katsu which is basically a katsu with the toppings that come with takoyaki (sweet bbq sauce, mayo & dry fish flakes). They gave us some cold entrees & soup (refillable) to start which was pretty good. The Katsu itself was really tasty. The place is a bit cramped when it gets busy, there are a ton of small tables for 2 & they're all kinda crammed together in the middle. At least that's how it was for dinner, might be different for lunchtime. All in all, pretty good. Thanks Katsuya MTLView more
First time trying & my friends & I absolutely loved it! As appetizers we had the cheese balls & the honey fries. The fries were so crispy & flavorful. The texture of the cheese balls was out of this world. We got the original, the curry & the spicy one. All of them were so good. Especially the spicy one, please get it with the sweet potato cheese katsu; the best combo. & a plus, servers were so nice.View more

Everything was so so good & it's amongst my top restaurants in Montreal! Service was friendly & fast. I recommend that you go in the morning, as soon as it opens to secure a spot & to get the best service :) Dishes that I recommend : - Cheeseballs : fan of cheesepulls & mocchi like texture? This is THE appetizer for you. Plus, they add honey butter powder on top, which makes it so addicting! - Brick cheese gold & silver katsu : if you visit Katsuya, you have to take this (it's like their signature dish & why they are so popular!) - Original sweet potato cheese katsu : it was recommended by the owner as this is his favorite dish. I must say, it's mine too now! - Finally, as a udon lover, their udon dishes are so worth it! If I have a udon craving, I could see myself coming back for it.View more
I've had Katsuya multiple times in Vancouver & I love it so I was really exited to try this one. It was delicious! We had a couple of appetizers (cheese balls, cheese crabmeat croquettes, tartare shrimp, & honey fries) & my favourite was the croquettes! For their main dish I had the hot spicy fish katsu. My 2 favourite flavours & the hot spicy katsu & the sweet chili katsu! The plates are very big & filling. It also comes with miso soup but I didn't find the soup that good to be honest.View more
The restaurant has a very welcoming atmosphere. We were treated to free miso soup & free whatever that thing with the jalapeno is. The cheese balls have a nice chewy texture to it alongside a sweet kick. The katsu was cooked to perfection. My friend ordered the red carbonara udon as well. It was too spicy for my liking. The rice was fluffy & the coleslaw was delicious.View more
