Used to live in Chongqing & have been craving proper Sichuan food since there's a serious lack of good Chinese food in Québec City. I got the fish soup, extra spicy & green beans with white rice, 100% satisfied.
I'm no expert on the Canadian version of Chinese food so take that into account. The place is sparse & cold feeling. Cheap tables. You basically hear everything going on in the kitchen. Food was pretty bland & overly sweet for both of our meals. Lunch special was a decent price. Food was served very haphazardly. One soup. Then eventually another soup. Then one entree. Then a long wait. Then the second entree. Not very conducive to a nice lunch outing. Just alright. Nothing more.
Pretty obviously the best Chinese restaurant in Montreal, though perhaps a little more expensive than some almost-as-good options (e.g. Aunt Dai or Chez Chili).
Kan Bei is a fantastic spot for authentic & flavorful Chinese food! The portions are generous, the presentation is beautiful, & the taste is absolutely delicious. We tried the crispy noodles with shrimp & vegetables - the shrimp were fresh & juicy, the veggies perfectly cooked, & the sauce tied everything together with amazing flavor & texture.
We also had the Kung Pao-style dish with rice, & it was packed with flavor - tender bites, crunchy peanuts, & just the right balance of sweet & spicy. Every bite felt fresh & satisfying.
The service was friendly & quick, & the atmosphere is warm & inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a meal with friends or family. Definitely one of the best spots in the area for authentic Chinese cuisine.
Fantastic authentic Chinese restaurant! I have been coming frequently & the taste is great! I haven't been living in Montreal for 6 years & the taste is still as good as it used to be! Thank you very much! ❤?❤?❤?
Delicious northern Chinese cuisine!
The sautéed cabbage is the best I have ever tasted when dining at a northern chinese restaurant. The salty, sweet, spicy, & sour flavors were perfectly balanced.
We ate at this restaurant three times already & it has been consistently good!
We ordered spicy cold tofu, sautéed cabbage, green beans with pork, beef chow mein with black bean sauce, spicy deep fried chicken.
Highly recommend trying this restaurant. We will be back when we come to Montreal again.
We were searching around the area to eat, & suddenly we saw this place on google maps, & we gave it a try. This is our second time in this restaurant & it is AMAZING. The quality, the service, the food is fricking amazing. For me, it is one of the best chinese foods ever tried, we come from Spain & this place is AMAZING
My favourite chinese restaurant in Montreal. Had a lot of beautiful memories with this restaurant. I used to order over 30 dishes from them for my party. Fabulous services. Missed them a lot after move out of QC.
Amazing Chinese restaurant! Great service & authentic dishes. Loved everything I ordered & the portion is quite large. What I ordered could easily feed two! Will certainly be back next time I am in Montreal!
Came to Montreal on holidays but craving for Chinese food. The Sichuan dishes here lack of Mala flavor (numbing & spicy flavor) but I guess it's adapted to local taste. Although not completed satisfied, it did give some sort of comfort to my cravings. Service here is slow & not excellent. Also they have two types of La Zi Ji ( spicy chili chicken) which I haven't never seen in any restaurants, one with bones & the other without bones. The one without bones is actually not authentic at all, it's just fried chicken with some chills, more catered for westerns. The one with bones? My advice is not to have La Zi Ji with bones as most authentic La Zi Ji dishes don't come with bones.
Kan bei is THE BEST chinese restaurant I've been to in the one year that I've been living in Montreal. we ordered the chicken fried rice (#809) beef with satay sauce (#315) stir fried shrimps, spring roles & shrimp soup. All of them were absolutely delicious. Will definitely visit again. If you're looking for good portions, great prices, & a succulent chinese meal, Kan bei is the right place for you.
I've been to Kanbei for dinner a few times & I really like this restaurant. The environment is clean, especially the bathroom, which is really clean. The waiters are very good & the food is served quickly. It's rare to find a restaurant with classic Chinese food & reasonable prices in the city center.
