K2 Bistro offers an all-you-can-eat dinner like no other. I say all-you-can-eat dinner, not buffet, because the food items are individually ordered & plated, sometimes even individually finalized. & the food is of restaurant quality.
We really came for their fish. I mean, raw & cooked fish. The restaurant's theme is Japanese anime. Naturally, most dishes - if not all, are inspired by Japanese seafood tradition & lean heavily on sushi & sashimi. (Despite the Japanese facade, the restaurant is owned & operated by people of Chinese heritage like many suishi restaurants are.) Raw fish dishes here are a good showcase of their care in ingredients & in preparation. They also distinguish themselves from sushi buffets in the varieties of dishes offered.
Ville-Marie where K2 Bistro is located in is a busy commercial district. But the restaurant has a small storefront & comparatively less flashy exterior. Combined with their pricepoint, most diners must be seeking them out. Shortly after we entered around 5pm in a December evening, the dining hall on the second floor was filled with what could only be described as repeat visitors. Once inside, you are immersed in Studio-Ghibili-themed decors from wall to wall. Whether ceiling-to-floor panels or 3D installations, they are crafted with care.
Once seated, you use a touchscreen on the side of your table to order. Compared with full service restaurants, food comes relatively fast. Food is prepared somewhere on the first floor & fetched through the same staircase you walk up from. I was facing the staircase, & was amazed by the lack of real danger of servers clashing with guests the entire time! Some food items require a finishing touch, such as a torch-over. This is performed on a narrow counter on the second floor. When there is no food, that counter looks like a normal space divider. When something needs a finishing comes up, someone magically appears, torch (or other equipment/ingredient) in hand. Nothing theatrical. But if you think of the logistics, K2 Bistro is nothing short of magic.
All in all, K2 Bistro offers an enjoyable dining experience - & a satisfactory meal. It has certainly attracted a dedicated following among Montreal's digital economy participants. But if you are from out of town, &/or not from the digital-native generation, seek them out. You won't be disappointed!

La nourriture est d'une qualité incroyable !
Tout est frais & bien assaisonné.
La décoration est très sympa, le personnel est aimable & le restaurant n'est pas trop bruyant malgré le monde.
Nous avons payé environ 50$ par personne.
Je recommande vraiment cet établissement.
Le point négatif est le temps d'attente pour être servi qui était à chaque commande d'environ 30min (le restaurant était plein donc peut-être plus rapide en temps normal)

Alors déjà la décoration wow vraiment, on est plongé dans un univers. & sinon très bon resto à volonté, énormément de choix & tout était bien bon !
Je recommande, le nouveau local est bcp mieux, un buffet varié, les suchis sont frais & délicieux, un petit bémol le service est un peu lent ☺?

Le K2 Bistro dépasse vraiment toutes les attentes ! Les sushis savoureux sont un vrai régal.ht, avec une variété qui garantit que chaque bouchée est une nouvelle aventure. Le personnel accL'accueil chaleureux & convivial contribue à rendre l'expérience culinaire encore plus agréable. Le cadre merveilleux, associé à une superbe décoration, crée une atmosphère accueillante, idéale pour toutes les occasions. De plus, le système de commande simple vous permet de passer moins de temps à attendre & plus de temps à savourer de délicieux sushis. En résumé, c'est un endroit fantastique que je recommande vivement à tous ceux qui recherchent un buffet de sushis exceptionnel !
The decorations were beautiful. Studio Ghibli theme is just amazing & I love the Rouleau Quebec. One of my favorites ♥?
I really wish I could give this restaurant more stars, because the food itself was good. Unfortunately, the service completely took away from the experience.
From the moment we walked in, the waitress was cold & unwelcoming. When we politely asked to sit at another table (since the restaurant was empty & the table assigned placed us tightly between two larger groups), we were abruptly told'no' without any explanation, & in a very rude tone. It felt unnecessarily dismissive & uncomfortable.
Good food can't make up for poor service. Sadly, I wouldn't return because of how we were treated.

Trés déçue du service 1 h d'attente pour avoir une mini place & des serveurs qui font la gueule dès qu'on leur demande quelque chose.
Ni merci ni de rien ni rien au final c'est déplorable pour un endroit aussi beau ! & en plus ça viens pas débarrasser la table ni demander si tout va bien EN PLUS DE JETTER LE TICKETS DÉS QUE LE POURBOIRE PLAIT PAS !

Les plats sont mangeables mais petites portions pour un buffet a volonté & on vous affiche pas le prix donc ATTENTION A ÇA !

Ambiance manga très bien fait & super fun. Service ultra rapide / menu à volonté avec plats pour tous ( chaud & froid) & très bons plats ! Je recommande 💯 mais réservez avant de venir car l'attente est super longue .
