Unfortunately 5 of the dishes were not available & we resorted to some alternatives. The crudo was ok. The only vegetarian dish of cabbage was tasty. The short rib was amazing, the Pulpo was overcooked & not upto par. Service was very friendly, but the vibe was not what I was used to for the authentic Filipino street food awesomeness of'Junior'. At the price point (>500 C$ for 4 pax) there is some adjustments to be done to bring this experience in line with its price point.
One word wow!
The staff were very welcoming & helpful. The owners/managers recommendations were on point. The food was amazing. Everything was delicious. For the ambiance, I loved that they played early 20s R&B songs!
I will definitely return to try their other dishes!
Cool atmosphere with vibey music. Inventive dishes bringing Filipino traditions & flavours to a fine dining-esque presentation. Everything was rich & flavorful & service was charmingly vibrant. The beef short rib was rightly a signature dish - must have. Oliver & Ella were amazing, & kudos to chef Lorenzo for making us feel very welcomed.
Exactly what we hoped for a date night out. Relaxed & hip atmosphere, amazing dishes (the octopus, lime prawn & short ribs are OUT OF THIS WORLD) & incredible friendly service. Thank you Rey, Marvin, Chef Lorenzo.. everyone made us feel like family. Definitely an authentic spot & what Montreal's food scene is all about.
Brunch was amazing! It was my first time trying Junjun & it was definitely not the last time. Filipino cuisine is really underrated & they did an amazing job in combing the traditional flavors & dishes with a new/modern twist. We also talked to one of the owners & it was so interesting to hear about some dishes & story behind. Would definitely recommend & will come back to try their dinner ☺?
The drinks are very well executed. Func mix of sweet & savory.
The food, well the food keeps true to it's Filipino origins. The heat is there, but it's controlled. Ot adds to the dishes.
Octopus with peanut butter was very nice. The humble cabbage gets a major upgrade. As the lest expensive item on the menu when we visited, it packed a real punch.
Will be back!
As someone who's been to this restaurant over 5+ times, I can tell you each experience has been better than the other. The kindest & most welcoming staff I've experienced hands down. The owner, Rey, makes sure that every client is tended to & satisfied with their overall experience. Initially, I had never considered Filipino cuisine since there aren't too many spots in Montreal. The aesthetic of the restaurant is what initially reeled me in, but the staff, service & food is what got me to come back time after time. Heads up for those who have never tried Filipino cuisine, most dishes are on the sweeter side & mildly spicy! (If you don't like the spice, tell them beforehand so they can modify some of their sauces for you, they're super accommodating!). If it's your first time, I highly recommend their tasting menu to be able to discover the different items on the menu! If not, the octopus (pugita kare kare), shrimp bisque & smoked mackarel (kinilaw) have been my go to-s! The drinks are always tasty & aesthetically pleasing. Each dish is always thoroughly explained & they all have their own unique backstory. One thing I really appreciate, they change the cutlery & plates after every service! You can tell that they really care about their customers. They always keep an open mind & want feedback from their clients as they change their menu items from time to time as the season changes! I 100% recommend JunJun & I will keep coming back! Thank you guys for such a great time!! :)
One of the best restaurant experiences Montreal has to offer for sure!!! Such great menu options & they really think outside the box by not just limiting themselves to traditional Philipino dishes!! What a great move! Thanks to Ray Ray for the awesome service & excellent food!! Definitely going back!!
I had the pleasure of dining at their sister restaurant, Junior, & have been wanting to try Junjun for some time now. I must say, the experience was incredible & truly unforgettable! Junjun exceeded all my expectations. The service was exceptional, with friendly & attentive staff. Our waitress, Margarita, was fantastic, & Manager Ray was a wonderful host, bringing both humor & warmth to the evening. He enriched our experience by sharing the story behind Junjun & its journey, adding a unique & personal touch to our visit. As a Filipino growing up in a Filipino household & enjoying traditional Filipino dishes daily, I was truly amazed by how this restaurant has elevated & modernized the cuisine. Each dish on the tasting menu showcased unique & distinct flavors, & every plate was a visual masterpiece. I'm already eagerly anticipating my next visit, especially for the unforgettable Octopus Kare Kare-it's a dish that has left a lasting impression. Maraming Salamat! Proud Filipino I highly recommend Junjun & will definitely be returning for another remarkable experience!
Amazing restaurant! If you've never had filipino food, this is the place to go! They offer a tasty & unique tasting menu that allows you to discover all type of flavours & textures. The dishes are a beautiful blend of traditional & modern cuisine. Highly recommend it!
We came here for my partner's 30th birthday & the staff were incredible, fun, passionate, & knowledgeable. They made the dinner so special. We had the tasting menu & all of the dishes were beautifully balanced. One of my favourite places in Montréal. We'll be back to try the rest of the menu.
Absolute highlight of our trip to Montreal. Fantastic creative modern Filipino cuisine. We were a group & so sampled most of the dishes, though, as usual, dove in before taking pictures - at least on the first several. Absolutely exquisite well thought through & executed dishes. You can't go wrong. Fantastic to hear Rey talk about the history of the restaurant & the menu & hear his passion about Filipino food tradition & his idea about taking the tradition to the next level. It is a tiny bit off the beaten path but so so worth it. Made our evening!! Thank you!
We came here for our anniversary dinner & got the 5 part tasting menu. Firstly the food is amazing. On top the staff were not only friendly but also explained all the dishes & were just lovely people. Would highly recommend.
unforgettable experience! We opted for the 5 & 6-course tasting menu, & every dish's presentation was nothing short of art. The flavors were equally impressive, with each course offering a delightful mix that showcased the creativity of modern Filipino inspired fusion cuisine. From the unique twists on traditional dishes to the innovative flavor combinations, every bite was a new adventure. The atmosphere of the restaurant added to the overall experience & our waitress was incredibly kind & attentive. Highly recommend!
We had the 5 course tasting menu & it was great. The server was lovely & explained every dish to us, the memories they invoked for him as a Filipino, & how he would suggest we eat each. The dishes were flavourful & unique. I particularly enjoyed the Mackerel & the leek dish. The desserts were also truly spectacular. Highly recommend this spot !
Me & my friend wanted to eat somewhere close by especially because it was raining. Having been to Juniors so many times, we wanted to try something different. I've always noticed Junjun since it opened officially but never had the chance to visit. Today we decided to go when it was a quiet night for them due to the rain. We were served by Rey who went out of his way to create an unforgettable dining experience & was lovely to chat with about the history of the dishes. We decided to try the $85 6 course menu. I asked if the Pandesal was included in the 6 course menu & it wasn't but Rey served it to us as a complimentary dish which was very kind of him. How could I resist bread at a restaurant? Every single course went beyond my expectations. My absolute favourites were the seared scallop on top of a leek puree & the beef carpaccio with a bone marrow sauce. There was 1 menu item that paled in comparison to the other 5. That was the ravioli filled with langoustine. I found the langoustine's natural taste was being covered by the thick ravioli itself & the overpowering sauce which consists of mushrooms & truffle oil. I let Rey know of my friend & my personal ranking of the dishes & he took our opinions very seriously. We ended up having a talk about constructive criticism & how it's good to hear the good & the bad. Rey's friendly attitude & open mindedness was a refreshing experience that complimented the food. At the end of the meal, Rey asked us if we would like to try the dessert on the house if we had room. Knowing me, I always have room for dessert so I said absolutely! Unsurprisingly, even the dessert was delicious. The fermented coconut topped a rice cake dessert along with a coconut caramel sauce. It wasn't too sweet & can be compared to the cassava cake at Juniors. However, the cassava cake will always hold a special place in my heart. Once again, I would not hesitate to visit again & the food is absolutely worth the pricing. Thank you to the chefs & to Rey.

By far one of the best restaurants Ive been to in Montreal in 2024, we went last night & I can't wait to return. The food being to die for is an understatement, every bite was better than the last!! They really elevate simple & delicious dishes. The server was friendly & helpful, she checked on us often & the owner was very kind & informative about the inspiration behind the dishes. We were 2 people & shared 2 dishes each, we had the jalapeno oysters, the scallops, the lions mane mushroom steak as well as the duck breast. At the end of the night we finished with coconut rum & a coconut cake that just melts in your mouth! Not a single complaint aside from wishing we had room to order more!
The food was good, but it was a little pricey for my taste. We were two & ordered two appetizers, & two plates. After these 4 dishes we were still hungry so we ordered another plate.
