Was excited to try the Duck adobo & Kinilaw. Unfortunately 5 of the dishes were not available & we resorted to some alternatives. The crudo was ok. The only vegetarian dish of cabbage was tasty. The short rib was amazing, the Pulpo was overcooked & not upto par. Service was very friendly, but the vibe was not what I was used to for the authentic Filipino street food awesomeness of'Junior'. At the price point (>500 C$ for 4 pax) there is some adjustments to be done to bring this experience in line with its price point.

Some places are so good I want to gatekeep them so I'll always get a table but I just can't do that to Junjun.

Everything is incredible - the food is edible artistry, I particularly loved the scallop crudo which somehow tastes like oysters (???), Ray the co-owner is a blast to hang out with & he genuinely loves the craft of restauranteuring, & I love how intimate yet energetic it always feels.

It's the kind of place that I'm shocked the Michelin guide missed covering. Filipino food made into high end magic. Thank you Ray for making our date night so special 💗

Where to begin? This restaurant has blown me away. From the moment I walked in, I sensed that I was welcomed into someone's home. The service throughout the evening stayed that way & the staff at this local restaurant were nothing but knowledgeable & courteous from start to finish. As someone who has gone to many of our local businesses throughout the years, very few captured the essence of service the way that this restaurant did.

I would strongly recommend trying their $75 tasting menu & as it gives you a good variety of land & sea. Each preparation was thoroughly thought out & used very fresh ingredients. Our attentive wait staff guided us from our first bite to our our sweet bite, without ever feeling like they were imposing themselves upon us.

We had a scallop crude to start, a Filipino octopus peanut butter dish as our second, followed by a creamy mushroom pasta dish before finishing with a beautiful short rib that was tender to the bite. For dessert, an innovative churro dish topped with their homemade ube ice cream. What a delight!

All the while, the ambience was that of a'90s r&b club, mixed with a upscale restaurant vibe.

I would not hesitate to come again & bring my family & friends along for the ride. For the next experience, I will be definitely trying their full tasting menu of six courses.

My family & I had had the tasting menu & it was great. We could tell the chefs cooked with passion & pride, & the service was more than exemplary.

Food-wise, the highlight was by far the short rib in our opinion: fall-off-the-bone tender, great flavor combinations, good variety of textures, appealing presentation. An absolute banger to wrap up the savory portion of the menu. That is not to say we didn't like the other courses-the mushroom pasta & the dessert were to die for!

Go support these folks who hail from the humble Filipino hood of CDN! Also, s/o to Oliver & Chef Lorenzo. Will come again!

It was my first time trying Filipino food, interesting to see cultures blend. Cudos to chef Lorenzo!!! The pasta was sooo good, as well as the short rib. Cocktails were interesting Ella! But the music!! oMg couldn't stop dancing the whole dinner.
& last but not least….Oliver! So much vibe ❤?

Cool atmosphere with vibey music. Inventive dishes bringing Filipino traditions & flavours to a fine dining-esque presentation. Everything was rich & flavorful & service was charmingly vibrant. The beef short rib was rightly a signature dish - must have. Oliver & Ella were amazing, & kudos to chef Lorenzo for making us feel very welcomed.

We had such an incredible experience here! It's Filipino cuisine with a modern twist & the chef truly outdid himself. Every dish we tried (yes, we tried almost everything on the menu) was even better than the last. The flavors were bold & creative. The cocktails were just as impressive, perfectly crafted to match the food. Service was top notch the entire team was warm & attentive & our waitress was so sweet & made us feel right at home. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a memorable dining experience!

Nous avions beaucoup aimé le Junior Filipino (hélas fermé depuis). Espérant trouver la même expérience sinon mieux, nous y sommes allés au Jun Jun. Nous avons eu la chance de croiser un des proprio, une personne vraiment passionnée voulant mettre en valeur la culture & la cuisine philippine, ça a été un vrai plaisir d'échanger avec lui. Comme on voulait goûter à un peu tout, on a pris le menu dégustation, 6 plats & le dessert inclus.
En toute honnêteté, tout était bon, magnifiquement préparé. Un plaisir pour les yeux avant d'être un plaisir pour les papilles. Chaque plat était savoureux, frais, on sentait toute la recherche derrière chaque plat pour magnifier les aliments. Saveurs subtiles & délicates à souhaits Cela dit, j'ai trouvé que certaines portions étaient un peu petite & si on regarde les photos, au milieu du repas, on a eu des gnocchis revisités, certes mais ça reste des gnocchis? Le début était magnifique, je m'attendais plus à ce qu'on continue sur cette lancée avant le dernier plat.
Mention spéciale pour les mocktails qui étaient excellents !
Petit irritant au moment de la note, c'est de voir que par défaut les tips étaient à 18 ou 20%. C'est dommage de forcer la main, je comprends très bien la difficulté de la restauration en ce moment mais le ressenti côté client est que''l'établissement profite de moi'' ça n'envoie pas un beau message (ce n'est pas spécifique à cet établissement, d'autres le font aussi). Je pense qu'il y a moyen de faire en sorte que les 2 parties ressortent gagnantes mais pas de cette manière.

There was 6 of us & we had the tasting menu. I have no words. Im still tasting everything in my head over & over again. Every single bite burst with so much flavour. It was the best orgasm in my mouth. Ray, one of the owners was so attentive & made every table welcome. He has the best personality. That's what Filipinos do. Make sure you walked away happy & full. He absolutely succeeded.

What they did with the dessert. The blend of different flavours into one piece of artwork on a plate. The BEST!!! Even when I was bursting out of my pants full of dinner, I shoved that dessert down. I couldn't leave it behind.

Im coming back to Montreal just for this restaurant because the weather wasn't anything to write home to.

Ray great job! Definitely coming back.

Brunch was amazing! It was my first time trying Junjun & it was definitely not the last time. Filipino cuisine is really underrated & they did an amazing job in combing the traditional flavors & dishes with a new/modern twist. We also talked to one of the owners & it was so interesting to hear about some dishes & story behind. Would definitely recommend & will come back to try their dinner ☺?

The drinks are very well executed. Func mix of sweet & savory.

The food, well the food keeps true to it's Filipino origins. The heat is there, but it's controlled. Ot adds to the dishes.

Octopus with peanut butter was very nice. The humble cabbage gets a major upgrade. As the lest expensive item on the menu when we visited, it packed a real punch.

Will be back!

Phenomenal food & ambience!! I am still dreaming about the palabok & duck adobo. One of my new favourite Filipino restaurants, I can't wait to eat here again next time I'm in Montreal!

If you think you've had great Filipino food, wait till you try this spot in the heart of downtown Montreal. Next level Filipino food. The squid kare kare & the ensaymada was just out of this world. Worth every penny & the owner was so nice to share about the origin & story of the restaurant.

As someone who's been to this restaurant over 5+ times, I can tell you each experience has been better than the other. The kindest & most welcoming staff I've experienced hands down. The owner, Rey, makes sure that every client is tended to & satisfied with their overall experience. Initially, I had never considered Filipino cuisine since there aren't too many spots in Montreal. The aesthetic of the restaurant is what initially reeled me in, but the staff, service & food is what got me to come back time after time. Heads up for those who have never tried Filipino cuisine, most dishes are on the sweeter side & mildly spicy! (If you don't like the spice, tell them beforehand so they can modify some of their sauces for you, they're super accommodating!). If it's your first time, I highly recommend their tasting menu to be able to discover the different items on the menu! If not, the octopus (pugita kare kare), shrimp bisque & smoked mackarel (kinilaw) have been my go to-s! The drinks are always tasty & aesthetically pleasing. Each dish is always thoroughly explained & they all have their own unique backstory. One thing I really appreciate, they change the cutlery & plates after every service! You can tell that they really care about their customers. They always keep an open mind & want feedback from their clients as they change their menu items from time to time as the season changes! I 100% recommend JunJun & I will keep coming back! Thank you guys for such a great time!! :)

This venue is elevating the fine dining Filipino restaurant to an incredible culinary experience ❤?❤? The decor is gorgeous on the inside & the host is super nice & friendly 😇😇 We started with mocktails & wine & the moved onto Tinapay - incredible delicious bread with the best ube butter ever ❤?❤? Trust me, it's the best salted bread you've ever eaten 🎉🎉The host was super kind to explain the history behind each dish we ordered & it was a delight listening to him 😇😇 We then moved onto the main dish - Bisque Palabok for me & Short Ribs Pares for my partner & my goodness, each bite was beyond exquisite & made with so much attention to taste & detail that we didn't want the savory bites to end ❤?❤? Highly recommend the homemade pasta & particularly with the bisque ❤?❤? For dessert we had this incredible bread soaked in maple topped with cheddar & truly a gourmet's delight ❤?❤? Although we ordered from à la carte menu, we cannot wait to come back & try the Tasting Menu 😇😇 Highly recommend this 11/10 restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy a night out with a date, family, & friends as the host, food & service are fantastic 🎉🎉

An absolute hidden gem in Montreal!! From the food, to the drinks, to the vibe… everything was impeccable, especially the service/hospitality.

If you're looking for elevated filipino food, this place will certainly hit the spot. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Coming from a metropolitan & diverse place like the Washington D.C. Metro, we have high standards for'modern takes on Filipino food.' JunJun's did not disappoint! We had personalized service from the owner himself who explained the background & preparation of each of our 5-course tasting menu. I had the cocktail with pandan flavor & my 20-something son had the deconstructed champorado for dessert. We ended the meal feeling full & satisfied. Must visit if you're in Montreal!
