Top sushi for quality & freshness. Definitely get a variety sashimi. The miso soup has such deep & delicious flavours. They also offer a wide variety of rolls. The one thing I wish this restaurant had was sushi made at & served at the bar, like true omakase style.
Excellent sushi place. They have a small, but meaningful menu. The restaurant is very lively & inviting. We had dinner on a Wed, starting at open, & by 7 pm, all the tables were full. Three primary things on the menu: - "omakase" (in quotes because it is table-side, not traditional, bar-side, one-bite at a time). Includes 4 hot dishes, & 15 nigiri, maki, sashimi, - only the 15 raw-fish option, - a-la-carte. We opted for the 15 raw-fish option "omakase" with a couple of add-ons. The candied salmon trout was amazing. Sushi were fresh & tasty, albeit no premium pieces (CAD 75 for 15 pieces is quite generous, & hard to get premium pieces), Service was fantastic. Recommend.
Ok food at best but incredibly slow service, like frustrating slow.
The food here is excellent. The omakase got us to taste a lot of different dishes, I recommend it. The service was also great, & we got great Sake suggestions throughout the night.
The sushi was exceptional as were the service & ambience. Best sushi in the city bar none !
Went in on a Friday evening, & the main issue was the service. Our waiter forgot a part of our order (miso soup), & as the first sushi (fried) plate came in, we asked about the soup. The waiter came by & accused us of not ordering it, which was of poor taste. We were also disappointed that the restaurant served us their sushi rolls before serving us our sashimi orders. At 8pm on a Friday, they were out of ingredients for martinis. Just overall disappointing, & not a sushi experience I would repeat.
As a group of seven, we ordered the omakase menu. The owner, Jun san, made us feel welcome from the very beginning. From the appetizers to the main sushi & desserts, everything was a delightful surprise. My companions repeatedly said that each item was the best Japanese food they had ever eaten. We had a great time here with thier food & service & were so happy with our choice. As I knew from before, he is the best chef & & definitely want to come again!
A very lovely sushi restaurant, where I would have to recommend at least doing the moriawase option. I did not try the omakase option, & maybe regret not doing so in hindsight. If deciding a la carte, do try the scallop gunkan & if possible the japanese mackerel (it was a unique offering during our visit). The establishment is pretty but small & relatively modest. Almost too small as you can hear a loud table quite easily. You may be taken aback by the simplicity of it all, including the disposable chopsticks for your use. Hiding behind the first impressions however are a warm towel to clean your hands, unique off-menu options, a knowledgeable & thoughtful server, & an amuse bouche that was a substantially sized gunkan sushi in our case. Be ready to pay upwards of $100 per person to leave satisfied, but also be ready to receive over-average sushi sizes. Each piece of sushi is on average 5 dollars with regards to the moriawase, but each is sized reasonably. I enjoyed the Jun Gin cocktail, sumashi soup appetizer, & the white chocolate/yuzu/fennel dessert. The latter was very unique, helped cut the fishiness left over on my plate, & frankly made my night. I hope to return here!
I did take out once during the pandemic, the quality of fish & sushi were all top tier in Montreal
Amazing sushi, great service & great ambiance! I strongly recommend the Funny Maki 👌
One of my favourite sushi places in Montreal. They could change the menu a bit more but at least it's great everytime you go. I've been several times & recommend!
Sushi quality is very good. Place is nice. Service needs work (too many people). Little noisy.
Had the Omakase. Sashimi truly melts in your mouth. Delicious & wonderful service. It was expensive but at least you get quality 🍣
