Cons: based on comparably priced sushi restaurants in Montreal & North America in general, this is average at best. The sushi quality, cut & presentation needs to be revised. Don't mean to go on & on, but to give an example, the sushi rice is too cooked & mushy. Once this happens it's pretty much game over :-(
Finally, the decor is outdated & lacks atmosphere.
Basically, based on its great reputation we had tried Jun-i 6-7 years ago & weren't overly impressed. Given its continued success & good reviews we decided to give it a second chance & unfortunately it was the same mixed result.
We came for a girls' date night, the ambience & decor were amazing. We both went for the Omakase menu, the quality of the fish is one of the best we've had in Montreal, even Canada, period. My friend & I have enjoyed sushi in Japan, & the quality of the fish at Jun I is top. Sincere compliments to the chef.

Ayant habité 24 ans au Japon, je peux dire que Jun-i est LE meilleur restaurant de sushis à Montréal. Le service y est toujours impeccable & fort sympathique.
The only thing more outstanding than the stunning tasting menu was the mind blowing service. Our server at the bar was Alan (so personable), but we were attended to by several staffers. The young chap running our food was well versed in the description of each dish. The host, if I may call him that, seemed to be in every corner of the dining room, & no detail escaped his gaze. Even followed us to our cab with an umbrella. The team system is alive & well at this establishment & good Lord, how I've missed it! Kudos to Jonathan for assembling (& keeping) such an amazing team.
