We had an incredible experience at Jun I. The food was absolutely amazing, every dish was fresh, beautifully presented, & full of flavor. You can really tell the quality is top-notch. The staff was warm, friendly, & attentive without being overbearing. Everything from start to finish was on point. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an exceptional sushi experience in Montreal!

Nous avons testé le menu dégustation qui nous a fait découvert des nouveaux poissons que nous n'aurions autrement jamais goûté de nous mêmes. La serveuse était très efficace & sympathique & a rendu notre expérience agréable. Dommage qu'il n'y a pas d'oursin ce soir là, nous étions curieux de goûté.

Although a bit expensive, the portions & the quality of the food makes up for the price. Their omakase comes with 3 appetisers, 15 pieces of sushi & a dessert for around 120$. The pieces of sushi were quite big & the cut of fishes were quite generous. I especially liked their Funny Maki because there was a great contrast in the temperature which made it so unique & delicious. I was surprised because I usually don't like fried sushi that much. As for the appetisers, I feel like the first two dishes were a bit too sour which overwhelmed the flavours of the ingredients but their octopus appetiser had a great balance of sweetness & saltiness which made it so wonderful. The quality of the ingredients is amazing, each slices were really fresh & I especially enioyed the fresh scallop sushi which had a great seafood sweetness to it. The service was superb. The waiters & waitresses were all extremely patient & professional, taking the time to explain each dish while they were serving it to the table. Even though the place was quite fancy with the minimalistic interior decors, I feel like the semi casual atmosphere fits the place extremely well & it was pretty easy to talk at our table until later at night when the restaurant was more crowded, I felt like we had to shout a bit to be heard.

La nourriture, un sans faute. Le service un peu long à démarrer. 2 tables qui sont arrivées après nous ont été servies avant nous. Une fois que le service a commencé tout c'est bien passé jusqu'au moment de la facture. Le serveur a lui même appuyé la fontion'custom' sur le terminal pour le pourboire. Ça me répugne, je suis un professionel de la restauration, je sais'tipper' à la hauteur du service.
Dommage, une si belle table à montréal gâchée par le serveur qui veut absolument faire 5-6$ de plus...

Went to Jun I with high expectations. Overall, it was a good experience, though not outstanding considering the premium pricing.
The sushi quality is excellent, with fresh, tasty, & fatty cuts of fish-definitely among the better sushi spots in Montreal. My personal highlight was the curry sushi, which stood out as particularly delicious.
However, service was friendly but slow & somewhat disorganized. Our group of six ended up staying for almost three hours, partly due to long wait times between courses. Some dishes arrived unevenly, leaving some of us without food for extended periods.
Desserts were enjoyable, but nothing exceptional.
One notable issue was the soy sauce, which our entire group found overly salty & concentrated. It detracted somewhat from the sushi's delicate flavors.
Despite these points, Jun I is still a solid choice for a high-end sushi dinner with friends, just adjust your expectations accordingly.

The food was excellent-no complaints there. However, the service left a lot to be desired. We waited over an hour for our meals & ended up spending nearly four hours at the restaurant. For a group of six, the timing was off-some of us received our food while others were still waiting. It definitely affected the overall experience. That said, the restaurant had a great vibe, & the food was truly worth the wait.

I personally found the Kani Age Épicé a little too salty & didn't need the extra sauce. The uni (sea urchin) was a little too overpowered by the rice but it was still fresh overall. The dancing unagi roll was superb as well.
However, the following two were the stars of this night for me. We ordered hamachi sashimi. This was as good as it can get for the city amongst all the other sushi options we have. 😊 Sitting along side the Hamachi was the Maguro Taru-Taru which we ordered as an appetizer. We collectively agreed that it was our favourite dish of the night!

De l'entrée jusqu'au dessert, c'est un régal, je n'ai encore jamais mangé d'aussi bons plats japonais. L'art de l'umami est maîtrisé dans chaque plat & même dans leur cocktail. Ce restaurant est du niveau d'un très grand gastro. Bravo Chef Jun I & votre équipe ce fut un moment inoubliable.

The fish is fresh & good quality, but it's really about their unique rolls. They also do traditional roll combos as hand rolls.
