Depuis plus de 30 ans, Le Jardin Nelson est l'endroit à ne pas manquer lors d'un passage dans le Vieux-Montréal. Ce restaurant a été nommé ainsi en l'honneur du Dr Wolfred Nelson, patriote de la rébellion de 1837, et neuvième maire de Montréal. L'immense terrasse extérieure pouvant accueillir jusqu'à 500 personnes se situe en plein cœur d'une vaste cour de style jardin méditerranéen. La multitude de fleurs et d'arbustes florissants, méticuleusement entretenus, ajoute une touche de vivacité et de dynamisme à l'endroit.
Jardin Nelson offre une ambiance chaleureuse et bucolique au coeur du Vieux Montréal, avec une cour intérieure verdoyante, une terrasse ensoleillée et des musiciens qui créent une atmosphere conviviale autour de repas ou de verre. Le cadre et la musique live donnent souvent le sentiment d une escapade française, particulièrement en soirée lorsque les lumières et le climat restent agréables. Les plats séduisent par leur fraîcheur et leur carte variée, allant de fruits de mer et plats raffinés à des recettes locales et des desserts généreux, et les portions peuvent être généreuses. It's a very nice restaurant. Truly such a beautiful vibe, great live music. & the food is great.
we came during end of September & the weather is beautiful. We sat at the patio side since there was a huge line to the garden & we have a plane to catch.
But once the food came, a hoard of wasps came. They enjoyed the food before I even got to my plate. There were multiple wasps that would round all the tables. I got the maple glazed baby back ribs, which were delicious (from the few bites that I got) but it really attracted the wasps.
The waitress saw I was very uncomfortable with the wasps touching my food, so she brought a plate of homemade repellent with lemon, lavender, cinnamon & lemongrass. It helped a bit, but they soon came back after I got a few more bites in.
I had to give up on my food. I touched majority of the seafood on my tostadas & ate 1/4 ribs.
But the wasps definitely just landed & made my lunch theirs.
Other guests at nearby tables were also having the same issue & were using napkins to cover their food as much as possible.
So just be prepared for the pests when you come, & maybe don't order the baby back ribs.
The crepe seemed fine though. The wasps weren't as attracted to it
Jardin Nelson was buzzing with energy on a weeknight, & we were fortunate enough to snag a table in the beautiful garden, where we enjoyed live jazz music alongside our meal.
We started with the baby ribs glazed with Jack Daniel's & maple syrup, & they were absolutely delicious--fall-off-the-bone tender! A must-try for anyone. For our entrees, we opted for the pâté chinois au canard, which is akin to shepherd's pie but filled with succulent shredded duck, corn, & creamy mashed potatoes. It was simply delightful. The lasagna au gratin was also impressive, featuring layers of eggplant, tomato sauce, spinach, & peppers baked to perfection.
Really nice experience at Jardin Nelson. The service was impeccable! We ordered 2 appetizers: Breaded & baked calamary & Brie with dried tomatoes & basil. Then ordered Pizza Charcutière & Du marché. All was amazing! The drinks were very good also. Had lychee martini (amazing) & a glass of red wine.
The atmosphere is superb, there is a live band playing & the ambiance is really nice as the seating area is outside in a huge garden. They have lots of heaters so dont worry if the weather is cold, you wont feel cold once seated.
Other things to note is that they do not accept groups of more than 6, which is perfectly fine to keep the noise level normal with the band playing.
Overall experience is a 10/10
The restaurant is surrounded by historical buildings, built in a garden & patio setting. It also has a tiny stage with live jazz performance. It is made for sunny as well as rainy days. It is a perfect place to enjoy the Montreal old port experience. The menu is diverse.
Jardin Nelson in Montreal is an absolute gem! I had the canard du confit crêpe, & it was simply divine. The duck was tender & flavorful, perfectly complemented by the delicate & crispy crêpe. The dish was beautifully balanced, with the rich duck filling blending harmoniously with the other ingredients. The ambiance of the restaurant added to the experience-sitting in the charming garden courtyard with live jazz music in the background made for a memorable meal. The service was friendly & attentive, enhancing the overall dining experience. If you're in Montreal & looking for a unique & delicious meal in a beautiful setting, Jardin Nelson is a must-visit. I highly recommend it!
Great place in Old Montreal. The food was excellent & the drinks were perfect! Especially on a warm summer evening. The lemonade really hit the spot! The crepes were delicious, in particular the smoked meat crepe. Combining two of my favourite Montreal foods in one! The restaurant's decor & ambiance is something special. You can either sit out on the front patio, or in the back in the outdoor garden. Both great, this time we sat in the garden. It's so nice, there are tables on different levels, there are huge umbrellas & awnings to cover from the sun, & there is amazing live jazz music. It was such a nice place to spend the evening. Service was very good too. Our server, Alexandre, was awesome! Looking forward to our next visit there!

Arrived around 5 on a weeknight & were seated in the garden with no wait. Food was solid. Crepes were heartier than what you might find in a traditional crepe joint. We were satisfied with our choices of smoked meat & seafood crepes. Our server's shift ended in the middle of the meal, so we were there a little longer than expected. Bonus--the delay extended our stay into the live jazz! So we ordered the maple creme brulee & some dessert coffee.
Absolutely visit Jardin Nelson for their beautiful garden & nightly jazz! We stopped by on our first night in Montreal & the atmosphere made a lovely first impression. However, the food is sub-par & overpriced & the seating is not the comfiest. But despite that I still recommend checking it out for the vibes.
A magical evening in Old Montreal at Jardin Nelson. The outdoor garden in absolutely stunning with so many beautiful flowers & plants. The jazz performed while dining was so enjoyable. The food was amazing ... terrific presentation & sublime flavour. &, the menu options are plentiful. The service is extraordinary ... it is obvious that the team is well trained & very efficient. A special thanks to our server, Milan - her welcoming smile & cheerful attitude made our experience at Jardin Nelson memorable.

First of all: Beautiful place! We sat in the garden in front of the stage. The music was beautiful & it harmonized with the place. The server was the so attentive & so helpful. We loved having him! We all had a crepe, seafood crepe, smoked meat crepe & a vegetarian one. ALL were perfect! We had a lovely time & will definitely come back again! 💜
Jardin Nelson will always have a line of people waiting to get in during the summer months, but I can tell you the wait is worth it! This is a lovely restaurant set in a beautiful garden away from the craziness of Montreal's Old Town streets. It's literally a hidden oasis! Once you're given a menu, you'll find there is a plethora of options - they have a very impressive selection of crêpes (which I absolutely would recommend getting), excellent salads, very good pizzas, & that's really just scratching the surface! They have so many different items on the menu, it's crazy! Try a variety of different things, & don't be afraid to ask the waiters/waitresses what they would recommend. That's what we did, & it helped a lot! Service was very good, food came out in a reasonable manner, & despite it being in a very touristy part of Montreal, prices were not exorbitant. All in all, a very impressive restaurant we will always return to whenever we are visiting the city!

The highlight of our trip to Montréal. Their beautiful setting makes this one of the most memorable restaurants I've ever been to. The large trees in this hidden garden are magical. Live jazz playing? Amazing vibes. Our server was knowledgeable, kind, & lively. The place gets busy so I'd say most tables are pretty close together. The food portions were on the bigger side. My Lapin Crepe was generously filled so I had half the next day for breakfast! The Maple Pudding was mostly just maple syrup soup but others in my group had more pudding, not sure what happened there. My table was also happy with their menu meal choices.
