We recently visited this newly opened Turkish restaurant & had a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious & very high quality. We ordered the mixed kebab, & the meat was very tender & flavorful. The chicken was perfectly cooked as well.
After our meal, we had baklava & Turkish tea, which were both amazing & the perfect way to finish the meal.
We will definitely be coming back & highly recommend this place to everyone!

Best turkish restaurant in montreal, I will drive 30+ min in the snow to eat here. Delicious food, very generous portions, good for dine-in or take-out, even for hosting big groups. Good for families, date nights or friend groups.
I'm rabid for Turkish food, & have tried several Turkish restaurants in my lifetime. This one makes my top 3 of all time. Expertly seasoned & cooked meats put to good use by the kitchen staff. My durum wrap was so delicious & very filling. The service was good too. The interior is very elegantly put together, a cut above most other Turkish restaurants. Unfortunately I live far from here so it's likely my only visit but if I lived closer I would be a regular.
Insanely good food, generous quantities, nice staff & clean restaurant. Avoid going during rush hours on weekend if you mind kids noises. But overall, highly recommended. Best turkish food in the city.
Gunes is the best among all turkish restaurants in montreal the reason is they are very generous when it comes to the portions & quality.

Recommended by a friend who lives within walking distance we tried this spot a Friday night. I have eaten in other Turkish restaurants in Montreal & had a certain expectation which I had to alter as soon as I entered the restaurant. The room is large with high ceilings & well laid out although tables are a tad too close to each other for my taste. The place was busy & we were seated near the kitchen area since it was busy. Within minutes though I was surprised as our waitress asked if we wanted to move to a nicer table.. I read some reviews about the wait staff..& all I can say is they are adorable polite, smiling (hard to do if you in a busy restaurant setting), We were served by 4 different persons & all were helpful & attentive considering the amount of customers. For the food I was impressed they bake their own bread in an open oven, We had a variety of dishes including a cheese pide, some chicken sandwiches which arrived well done as requested, lentil soup, salads, hummus & feta cigars. Two of us who ordered the sandwiches were surprised by the weight of each sandwich & how tasty they were. Both of us continued eating despite the fact we were full midway through. Teh Fries which I had not ordered are spectacular ( i like salt). Our pide guest also ate through it all & despite complaining about the size managed to eat all of it along with some cigars & a rice pudding that looked like it could feed 3 persons. Our soup guru was also impressed with the taste of the soup. One of group is a little skeptical about foreign food in general..but he actually was the first to say he wanted to go back. The service is perfect for this type of restaurant, its humming & busy so do not expect someone to dote on you, there are no busboys roles so relax & have a pleasant tea. We did sit around a while not knowing we had to go to the cash register for our bill..but no biggie & again I have rarely been in restaurants where everyone was so nice, smiling & helpful.

I am not giving a zero star just because of the bread & the fries. Otherwise, the food is awful. The chief does not have any idea of Turkish cuisine. The meat is hard to chew! There is nothing called shawarma in Turkey! It is doner! So obviously not a Turkish restaurant... the spice they used was also wired. Btw, the washroom was so dirty.
I enjoyed our dinner here when were visiting Montreal, it's a traditional Turkish cuisine, my favorite was the chicken & Lamb Tikka...the rest was average but I would go again if I was in Montreal..
What an amazing Turkish experience! Food tastes exactly the same as if you're dining in at a restaurant in Istanbul. Came to dine in here again after a year but still had the same great experience & the same taste. Would highly recommend the iskender kebab & Adana kebab along with their kunafe & tea which is just too good. Definitely worth 5stars!
